80% North_Atlantic with the k13 filter is brutal, not even isolated people like Basques or Sardinians get that much of one category, I think it´s around 50% West_Med with them. That´s very rare for European people to have that much of one single category.
@-andreiDNA
@-andreiDNA Год назад
I think this is because this was one of the people whose DNA was used in the creation of the "North Atlantic" reference population in k13. I've tried making my own admixture calculators with people's DNA files from opensnp and I noticed that when I run the people whose DNA I used in creation of the calculator through said calculator, they get a crazy result.
@user-wd8de9tg3p
@user-wd8de9tg3p Год назад
@@-andreiDNA So you are saying that for the reference groups, they chose individuals with extremly one sided "regions" in them, like let´s say for someone from Western Russia they searched an individual with 80% Baltic? I don´t know if I understood you right, but I think the K13 filter works extremly well. I´m from the Eastern part of Sicily and the calculator got it right on point, even though standard Eastern Sicilian would be a fair mix of different regions. As far as I see people from Cornwell lived for a significant time span very isolated, for a K13 result like that. The other possibility is that this certain individual is just an extreme outlayer inside of a more balanced reference group.

Did not Cornwall have famous tin mines in ancient times. That might account for some of trace genetic lineages. Mining began in the early Bronze Age, approximately 2150 BC for Tin and copper and it was shipped all of the way to Mediterranean ports and inland to various civilizations for to make bronze.

DNA companies use modern populations so what people are today so whatever makes up those populations from the past. Also people now conflate Irish, Scottish & Welsh with ancient Celtic dna from the Continent. They aren't the same. All English people still have ancient Briton dna and not just Anglo-Saxon.

Britons and Gaels were never like Continental Celts because they mostly descend from Bronze Age populations that are more closer to Dutch and Scandinavians. This is because all those Bronze Age populations are similar i.e. Corded Ware and Bell Beaker. Also English today still have a reasonable amount of Briton ancestry as well as Anglo-Saxon. They also have a good amount of French type ancestry. So using terms like Germanic and Celtic is not strictly accurate when looking at dna. What exactly is Celtic dna for example and are Scandinavians the same as Austrians?
