Ah, interesting. But as a Gnostic, I would regard these defense systems as ... not ... edifying. The counterparting classical Gnostic system (although very awkward) would be archonization: if a described act is obviously bad according to your inner moral, such as the case where Aphrodite and Ares are caught in the act by Hephaestus, and you would be a hypothetical Pagan classic Gnostic (not a Hermeticist, since they're not classic Gnostics), it would be described as due to the actions of a false Aphrodite, a false Ares and a false Hephaestus, all archons, children of the Demiurge, whom ignorant so-and-so Pagans confuse for being the real Olympians. Just an example: I don't know of any Pagans actually reasoning that way.
