A quick video tour of some of the highlights of the Lizard Peninsula. There are plenty more but these spots are within easy striking distance of each other.
Starting with the most southerly point in mainland Britain, the Lizard, this film takes in the lighthouse and Housel Bay.
Next stop is the east coast and the fishing village of Cadgwith where thatched roofs line the valley and the beach is the harbour.
From here we fly around some of the most dramatic coastline in Cornwall. Weird and wonderful volcanic sea stacks and turquoise water make Kynance Cove one of the most visited spots on the Lizard Peninsula.
To finish off I went down to the only harbour on the Lizard's west coast, Mullion Cove. Filming was a bit difficult as there were a bunch of (frankly un-picturesque) workmen in fluorescent orange work gear fixing the south pier - so shooting was limited. In addition the wind had picked up so I didn't do any aerial filming which I'd planned.
Good news is I shall be returning when the weather is perfect...

We have a place on Pelee Island in Lake Erie. We have a shoal out front of our place and it is called Lizard Point. It is interesting but not surprising....Take a quick tour on Google earth of Southern Ontario and you will find hundreds of towns, villages and counties named after their English counterparts

Thanks Paul. Love the Lizard too. Bit busier than it used to be but still plenty of special places and always spectacular.

He was apparently suspected of being Jack the ripper, by some, which has largely been disproved, but he did have a very keen interest in the crimes.

Around 25 years ago, rather than walk the track back up i decided to scramble up the cliff. I was around 10ft below the railing by the path above where my friends were waiting. the sea was angrily crashing on the rocks around 120ft below (i guess). The rock became loose and dirty and i was clinging onto the slab for dear life. My friends were already back at the fence and our car was parked very close because we we naughty and drove much further down the track than the car park (parking). I shouted at my friends to get the rope but it was too late, my hold gave way and i started to gain speed as i slid down the slab knowing that there was a huge drop below me as i had traversed across to the slab from the side. after sliding around 20ft my fingers were shredded and i had a fraction of a second until the free fall. I looked below me and saw one large boulder around 25 feet below beneath that was nothing except nasty rocks and sea, probably another 50ft at least. I pushed away from the slab, rotated my body 180 degrees and wound down the windows as i aimed for the almost flat boulder. All i knew was that it was a huge drop to land so i braced myself and decided to absorb as much of the shock as possible with my knees and legs (luckily i had very strong legs) I had never parachuted before but i was aware of the parachute roll as a landing for big drops. All of this went through my mind in a fraction of a second, adrenaline was kicking in hard. I achieved a perfect landing considering the situation, my fingers elbows and knees wee injured but mainly my fingers, all of my clothes were somewhat damaged. But i knew that i hadn't sustained any more serious injuries. So knowing that my friends must have been super worried i got up looked up above me at the now small crowd that had gathered at the railing. I put my thumbs up to show that i was sort of okay and everyone except for my friends walked off. LOL Anyway, i couldn't use my hands to climb back over so i had to do my best to scramble back around, at one point there was a pretty big crack to jump over, the drop was only around 10ft so i just jumped it because it was nothing compared to the 25ft free fall with takeoff speed from a 25ft slab slide. After this we all got back into the car and one of my friends passed me the biggest joint you have ever seen. I don;t know if it was because he packed it so full with tobacco or if it was just the shock, probably a combination of the two but i had to get them to stop the car so i could throw up. After that i felt much better and even though i could not drive for a few days we continued the adventure with my friends driving until i felt i was able to. I wore gloves for a few weeks to protect my hands and was happy with my new set of fingerprints once my hands had finally recovered. This was not my only near death experience but i'll save the other stories for another day. Beware the cliffs I've actually known quite a few people who have fallen off of various cliffs.

Yes, many younger people take nature for granted. Many times well-able bodies have found their demise in places like the Grand Canyon - they ignore the 'Warning signs' and think they will be an exception of some sort. Hope your story saves.

Lots of beautiful drone shots. Could you offer any advice on how I can get permission to fly in this area as its so close to the RAF base and mostly national trust land. Who are the best contacts to help?
