Serves: 4
INGREDIENTS:
50g course ground coffee
1 litre cold water
INSTRUCTIONS:
Add the coffee grounds to a muslin over a large jar or jug.
Pour over the cold water & stir or squidge to ensure all the grounds are well saturated.
Leave in the fridge overnight (at least 8 hours, max 24 hours)
Remove the muslin bag and store the cold brew coffee in a thermos of bottle and serve on ice.
The CONCENTRATED Recipe
200g coarse ground coffee

I know! Can you believe it?! The bay was full of them - I had no idea if the cameras was picking them up or not, if I’d have realised I’d have set the tripod up. Ah well, it was magical seeing them 😊 And thanks Damon, really enjoying making these longer vids.

What glorious views and weather, Jane! I just made cold brew coffee last week when my automatic coffee maker decided to stop working for me. I made the concentrated version at night and then in the morning added water and heated in my microwave so I could have my hot morning brew. Oh, and the recipe I used has you just stir the coffee grounds in to the water, set overnight, then strain through cheesecloth in the morning. I really like cold brew as it has almost a chocolate aroma and is sooo smooth! Thanks for sharing your recipe and your gorgeous adventure!

Oh interesting Sandra, how did the cold brew taste once hot? Was it still as smooth? Think I’m going to have to try it 😁
@sandram5664

Yes, still very smooth. I think I enjoy it more than heat brewed coffee. I just now remembered I had bought a French press to use with cold brewing...I need to dig that out and start using it!

I could have sworn that was the hotel from an Agatha Christie book! Looks fab, especially if you get the weather. Not too sure about cold pressed coffee though.. 😅

Nice! Have you thought about doing some Ridge Monkey recipes? I've managed to make a pizza in mine (OK, it was more of a cheese and tomato toastie but I'm counting it a s a pizza...).

They’re actually pretty compact so don’t take up too much space and they are quite versatile. They’re also popular with fishermen (“bank side cuisine”) so a whole new potential audience awaits...😁

Great video! Will be trying the cold brew technique. I assume it doesn't taste like coffee that's been left to go cold? Have you tried cowboy coffee?
@hedgecomber
@hedgecomber 5 лет назад
Hey Neale, no it’s a softer, more delicate flavour than hot coffee gone cold. I love it, so refreshing! Yes, we’ve done cowboy coffee a few times over the campfire, I’ll have to share that one soon too 😉

Cowboy coffee is the only way I've found to drink it with no sugar. Absolutely love it

@@nealeford1964 Oh that's interesting Neale, how do you make yours? We always boiled the coffee in the water, and it was so easy to burn. Please tell me your secret!

@@hedgecomber Cup of cold water in a pot, dump your preferred coffee in. Bring it to the boil and let it boil for 3 minutes, a good rolling boil. Take it off the heat and let it settle. Dump in a quarter to half a cup of cold water and let it stand for a minute. Pour it into a cup and then into your mouth. It's just the old fashioned way of making coffee, and for me it's far superior to making it in a press or whatever. Doesn't give me indigestion and no bitterness. Probably not for everyone, but I like old school ways🙂

Oh interesting that it is easier for you to tolerate Neale, it’s been an age since I made it on the fire, will definitely be giving it a go soon 👍
