My dad has it, had it for over 2 weeks now. He’s 70, in the icu for nearly 2 weeks now and I remember before he went in he was complaining of weird dreams and feeling confused. He also did have a very bad fever which has now gone. Other than that he has very severe breathing difficulties and is on high flow oxygen therapy of around 60-70% which is high I’m assuming? He also has severe tiredness and fatigue and did have a lack of appetite but that has come back now. Due to the oxygen he now has a very dry and sore mouth and throat and has oral thrust because of that to. Think that is most of what he has wrong with him. Hoping he pulls through, thanks for the work you do.
I have it since Saturday. Came on as the worst headache ever . I actually felt like I wanted to rip my brain out . I’ve have fevers 5 days straight I wake up completely soaking wet and my linen drenched. I don’t have the cough but my body is aches were horrible and weight loss . I’m a nurse pretty sure I got it at hospital
I have been staying home as much as possible but after you telling us that coronavirus could cause neurological damage, I don’t want to leave the house at all anymore
🤣🤣 sorry but that was funny couldn't help but to laugh ... Please dont tell me I'm being insensitive . I have coronavirus and I'm getting better very slowly each day
Don’t blame you. I thought I was a little over the top about it and now I have the virus. It’s the worst experience so do yourself a favour, fear it. It’s that bad.
I suffered from Covid-19. And I would NEVER wish that on anyone. SUPER SEVERE headaches, SUPER SEVERE body aches (especially in my bones), high fever, severe diarrhea, double pneumonia, chills, fatigue, loss of smell, loss of taste, equilibrium was severely off ( had to have assistance walking or use wheelchair and my speech was SEVERELY distorted (my speech would come and go). The hospitals, doctors, nurses, therapists were all confused and didn't know what to do. So they prescribed me anxiety medicine. Thank God, I'm healed‼️
@@magnoliapeach9377 I will be sure to be more grateful and not so angry 😠 and irritated with others after reading 📖 your post since I don’t wish COVID-19 on my worst enemy. I’m going to write ✍️ a gratitude list now.
I wish someone would answer my question and stop beating around the bush! Can having covid cause meningitis or something mimics it? Can it cause sinus infection? I have a severe headache/neck pain off & on for a 1.5 weeks until I woke up with fever head/neck/spine pain I was sent to ER from urgent care with 102 fever thought to have meningitis or like infection as my fever kept progressing. By the time I was in ER temp over 103 & low spine hurt severely doc thought I had meningitis or discitis so given broad spectrum iv antibiotics & steroid shot it took my high fever and severe pain away completely knocked it out. But I end up positive for Covid and 8 abnormal blood labs. It wasn’t until I was swabbed for covid that 2 days later I end up w/ a swollen nose, sinus infection symptoms, facial pain, return headaches, fatigue, weakness, mild cough w/mucous and now right sided neck pain. Tested 4 days later still positive for covid but doctors say my symptoms aren’t typical for covid??!! HELP! And feedback? Appreciated.
I already have neurological damage and so hearing about this evil virus causing problems that can affect the brain in the whole neurology is really scaring me
I have a spinal cord injury with permanent nerve damage. I am also fitted with a Nevro spinal cord stimulator/modulator. I take many prescriptions including pregabalin and high dose oxycodone. I had symptoms of covid 19 a few weeks ago. Dry cough, sore throat, temperature etc. After 4 or 5 days I completely lost my sense of taste and smell and had a terrible headache around my sinuses. Fits perfectly with your research. Would be happy to talk with you if you wish. Thanks.
@@Brainbook I feel really dizzy it's been since February 24th of 2022 but it's getting better my strengths coming back but I don't know about the dizziness
I had covid - in intensive care for 63 days, 40 of those days in coma - this was in mid 2020. I had a mini-stroke, kidney damage, had to go on the ventilator 3 times, but I survived!! I was out of work for 6 months. My wife had covid and sailed through in no time! I normally do not get the flu, rarely get a cold, but Covid almost killed me! I now am
Your content is excelent , excelent ! I feel extremely proud to see another clincian to share scientific knowledge with public and junior doctors and researchers, thank you ! What you do is important, globally and I hope your team is aware of that.
@@Mila-Nova very very scary for me .... I already have neurological problems ....myoclonus , plus I still have some memory loss issues from back when I got off of Lexapro . And I was originally put on Lexapro by a neurologist because I was having problems from when I had brain damage and post-concussion syndrome from a car accident ! I have worked so hard to heal my brain . Hearing about the kidney damage and the liver damage has also scared the crap out of me because when I was 4 years old I had a severe case of scarlet fever and that left me with hyperactive kidneys . I would not want any more kidney problems and consider myself blessed that it is not worse as scarlet fever can really mess a person up and I do have all the inflammation from that ... often waking up with swollen hands and feet , and still sometimes have days of lethargy . When I was in college I had hepatitis viral B so hearing that corvid 19 also can mess up the liver ? No thanks .... wow this is a really Insidious evil virus that can really f up a person for life .
I had sroke like symptoms back in march 2020. But hospital didn't test me for covid, so i dont know was it covid or not. So since march i have neurological problems. I have irregular heart beats, sometimes skipped heart beats, 20 years ago I've been diagnosed with myotonic dystrophy but had no symptoms. Since march i have few symptoms. I belive i triggered all of it with one tablet of ibuprofen 500mg. 30 min after having that tablet i had stroke like symptoms.
Going on 5 weeks now with Covid19 and have had the no smell no taste sensation. Also, experience major migraine headaches and I have been living with hiv/aids for over 20+ years, and have a suppressed immune system that really concerns me. The information was quite valuable, and I'm still learning new things every day as I seem to have different symptoms that come and go. Don't know when I will be able to test negative again, but so far I after the first positive result, I retested, and my tests results were positive for the second time. So this is so scary for me to go through this process, and actually my entire family was diagnosed with Covid19. My Mother, 2 Sisters, and a nephew plus myself. Looking forward to hear more about this Covid19 Virus.
Thank you for the information you put in this video...my 12 yr old came down with covid the end of March..she had a mild case but lost her sense of smell completely and said nothing tasted right...although she's recovered physically she still has neurological symptoms including brain fog, memory loss, and problems focusing especially in school. For about a week her right arm shook everytime she experienced anxiety but that has subsided thank God. 😔 I think the public needs to shine more light on this subject..there are alot of people struggling with the neurological affects from covid
I've been dizzy, numbness in my face, noises sound louder, can't taste hot sauce but can taste other things, vertigo when showering, feeling loopy like I'm drugged, nose sinus cavities are tingling and my nose is dry. Smelling coffee sends me on a sneezing attack which I'm use to drinking coffee on the daily. Had a low grade fever for 2 days with legs feeling very stiff, I forgot what year it is, clearing my throat a lot, got out of breath from vacuuming my tiny living room
My friend James had this horrible cough and so many symptoms. He got tested for the flu and that came back negative. I had a bad time too losing my sense of smell toward the ends of my illness but, not being able to sleep or breathe well for about three weeks. I feel fine now and his breathing is better too but I am worried about him since his face fell at some point when his cough was bad and he cannot keep his left eye open anymore. He is going to the doctor tomorrow. He and I both had lots of eye irritation as well and I thought his eye problem was pink eye but his eye looks fine. He has never been diagnosed with Bell's Palsy. I am also worried about how tired he is. He is 51 years of age.
After being tested positive last month, I have experienced dizziness most of the time I was thinking this is one of the post covid effect. And also lately I've been having phantom smells which I have never had before.
I haven't contacted the virus, but I have been affected. I got separated from my family and home town. I've been stuck in Ottawa for a few weeks now. Some of my family has contracted corona as well.
I had a az shot on the 6th of August three days later I was hit with a virtgo I've never experienced anything like it before iv had Ent specialists. Neurological specialists had a MRI been on all sorts of drugs nothing helped. Symtoms include dizziness, brain fog headaches for the first two months I could only walk with the aid of a cane, idont have any problems sleeping, if I remain still watch TV I feel relatively ok, I'm trying to stay active I have a tread mill and by holding on to the hand rails I can walk at a slow speed but do feel dizzy its now13th January I've stopped all medication, I've try all the maneuvers that doc recommend ie Emley, no effect I'm trying so hard to not get deprest. Just hope time will heal and I can get back to the gym and back onto the golf course
My son has meningitis right now and we assume it’s from his corona virus because all others have been ruled out. I’d love to hear what you think about it.
I'm mioptic and suffer anosmia post severe head injury .Covid is the very last thing I need .. Thank You so much for sharing your amazing knowledge I have indured many of the surgeries you have discussed
very interested in neurological herniation of the brain with the viral structure of corona-virus with comparatives with malaria viral herniation of the brain symptoms of blood brain barrier symptoms watching enjoyed listening video presentation
Hey man! I just binge watched a couple of your videos, I'm so amazed by the work you do and would like to pursue this specialty after my studies! How do you deal with all the responsibility and stay so calm? My biggest fear is that I will make a mistake once during my career..
I am a "breakthrough" case ( had 2 Pfizer vaccinations & previously tested NEG for virus ) Recently I had a sudden onset of severe spinning and was seen at the E.R. After several tests that showed no real concern I was tested for Covid and there it was. I was positive. This severe dizziness is my only symptom and very scary. I am 71 and work in a high risk environment ( grocery store ). Now I am isolated and am waiting for a follow up doctor visit. Thank you for your video. Patti
An interesting video overall, so cheers to you. One thing I haven't liked too much is the background music. It's way too emotional and maybe a little over the top for an informative video.
I found this video by searching for the reason I was feeling tingling and numbness 1 week after my release from isolation. Also havnt been able to taste or smell for almost 2 weeks. Very interesting thank you.
2months already I have a delayed response in smell and different taste When I got Covid my nose is paralyzed inhaling as if nothing enters on my nose and triggers my difficulty of breathing. My Anosmia lasted for 18days but since then my sense of smell is still not functioning well. I feel disoriented can't finished simple task it would take time and I anxiety
I really don't feel that the scary music was appropriate or professional, plus you didn't add sources for any of what you said (even though I know of at least a few references of what you said, but not everyone does).
First symptoms day after Christmas. Slight fever and achy for a day or two which went away. Then hit with acute dizziness, headaches and nausea. Could barely get to bathroom due to dizziness and couldn't keep down anything -- water, food, nausea medication. Ended up in hospital to get rehydrated. So many sick people there. Don't get this disease. I felt fortunate I didn't have respiratory problems. I didn't lose smell, but several times a day I smell a phantom smell of musty, moldy rotten food. Three weeks out and the dizziness has improved but still bad. I can't drive myself anywhere or turn quickly. I have to stay focused on whatever is directly in front of me. Had my first visit with a neurologist today. We'll see . . . . .
@@numerosgriegos YES. It took about two months for the symptoms to dissipate entirely. After about three weeks I was on an upward trajectory with no "backsliding" symptoms. Interestingly, I had a return of some of the symptoms for a brief few hours after my second vaccination shot (Pfizer). Apparently dizziness, nausea and headaches are just how I do Covid. My neurologist saw a lot of patients with similar symptoms, but my regular doctor and the hospital doctors seemed to think my symptoms were unusual.
I'd be very interested to read your opinion of developments since you made this video over two years ago. In particular: "We may finally know how covid-19 reaches the brain: the corona virus could stimulate the growth of tiny tubes between nose and brain cells that it then moves through" New Scientist, 30 July 2022, p 23. This is a conjecture based on in vitro studies in which "Upon entering the model nose cells, the virus stimulated them to grow tunneling nanotubes, forming links with model brain cells. The virus then used these tunnels to shuttle between the cell types". So the virus doesn't seem to "jump" the blood brain barrier after all by damaging the cells lining the very narrow blood vessels there, but gets its own vessels built. The article also says "Previous studies suggest the ACE2 receptor the virus uses to enter cells is barely detectable in the brain". This apparently contradicts your remark that "these receptors seem to be widespread throughout the brain". Nevertheless it's still interesting that you add "with particular focus where neurons are involved with heart and lung function". Could the virus use the brain to get control of lung function as a means of ensuring massive proliferation in the lungs, and from there infecting other organisms?
Hi, I'm a junior doctor from Sweden, hoping to become a neurosurgeon in the near future after my internship. Do you have any recommendations for books/online materials to prepare for neuroanatomy/basics of neurosurgery so that I'm well prepared when I start? :) Thank you and great content as always!
Thank you! this was the perfect info. I was looking for. So, my question here is, if it keeps affecting the area of the brain responsible for breathing, how could it be treated? Which medication?
Not going to lie, this video is just about scary enough for everyone to stay at home and self isolate, I'm unaffected as I write this however a lot of people in my area are not isolating, if need be can I share this video with my friends ?
I really would like to get in on the convo, I feel so alone with whatever is happening to me. This has been going on since March. I first started noticing weight loss out nowhere. I just figured I needed to do a better job with eating more. Then a couple weeks later, wicked esophagus pains and it always felt like something was stuck in my throat. Now I have horrible gi issues. Mainly diahrea. I know I know, yuck. My newest thing now is my entire body just shakes to the core. Can't even walk down steps with trembling. It's pretty bad. I'm terrified. I've been to urgent care, and the er twice now. Adrenal tests and a full blood count all came back with perfect results. I haven't been tested for covid yet but Monday morning I am scheduled to get swabbed first thing in the morning. I'm not eating, killing myself with stress, and just down. I've seen similar comments here, so I just felt the urge to reach out and see if anyone else has had what I am dealing with. Healthy 36 year old man here, then this struck me. Any replies would be great 😊 Stay safe friends
My dear know exactly I suffer with my nerves and at first cos a mental breakdown is similar no energy trembling ect that I was just low but yes had diahrea ect brain fog absolutely zonked re energy and my panic attacks got so bad I live alone and I was terrified I would die have a panic episode its awful you are not alone but I am 5 weeks in and slowly feeling bit stronger now xx
I’m extremely sick and tired of the stupid coronavirus plague. It makes me senselessly and ridiculously angry 😡 and I need to be careful I don’t end up 🆙 losing my freedoms due to getting so frustrated. I’m tired of people wearing facemasks even if it for a good cause. I need to stay away from the public for a few days
I loved this video! However, I have a quick question. You stated that forms of the virus can cause degeneration of the myelin sheath that is integrated into the anatomy of neurons. Therefore, can this cause symptoms similar to that of multiple sclerosis?
The night after my husband got his first Phyzer vax, I woke up in the middle of that night with chills, joint pain, headache. Next day fatigue and shoulder pain. That was about six weeks ago. I still have joint pain. He lost a tooth and I got a pulsing tooth.
Hey..didn't know where else to ask...I know someone who has severe OCD and I promised them to ask around on RU-vid. This person got tested for COVID19 through the nose and one of her obsessive thoughts is, that they might have a chip in their brain now, which one day might be activated and make them do stuff they don't want to do. So the question is: is it physically possible to put a microscopically small chip through the nose into someone's brain, specifically to a place that would make sense to "control" someone's behaviour? And would it even be possible to control someone's mind, from a scientific point of view??? I know this sounds strange and weird but that's just how these obsessive thoughts work I guess. Hope you see this and maybe give me an answer so I can maybe reassure this person with OCD that there's nothing to worry about. Thanks a lot and keep up the good work 👍
Interesting and very informative. I lost my vision due to optic neuritis. Then my body burnt from the inside, it hurt to be touched, and I couldn't walk. I then tested positive for Covid. I feel like it's all related. They put me on high dosages of steroids for 3 days and tested my with blood work and MRIs for MS, Lupas, and every other autoimmune disease. All my blood work and imaging were normal.
Great Covid19 information! My brother, James contracted Covid19 and suffered constipation/impacted bowels that caused vomiting "Aspiration Pneumonia" in the nursing home 12/08/2020. Now still in hospital and doctors are giving up on him. On Jan. 8, 2021 I visited him and he wouldn't talk and seemed spaced-out. They can't connect G-Tube because he vomits so they want to put him on Hospise. Why did nursing home do this to him?
4:00 According to Protein Atlas website there are almost none ACE2 receptors on the respiratory system, so all that about SARS-CoV-2 being expressed in the lungs is just wrong.
I am battling with a strange headache at night and early mornings, (day 10-15 of COVID). From base of neck to crown, burning sensation. I find that if I drink a cup of bullet coffee the headache goes away, do you have a theory around my experience. I’m feeling a little panicky about the headaches as they hit me at night and they cause nightmares. The coffee keeps me from sleeping but bullet coffee helps with pain management, it would be helpful if there was some advice around this.
I am suffering from virus.it’s my 15th day since I tested positive. When I’m talking my head is paining.I even can bear loud sound.can’t watch tv.can’t sleep at night because of the headache.no taste of food.No smell.other than this symptoms No fever,No cough,No cold. How long it will take to recover?????
Can’t lie when Covid started, I had a dream that a disease was spreading and killing anytime that it came in touch with. I survived cuz as I hid behind a rock. All in the dream tho.
They can depending on the level of damage and what structures are involved. Also depends on the age. The younger you are the better the chances of some recovery
Corona virus can lead to Parkinson or Alzheimer diseases in next 20-30 years. There will be a surge in such cases all over the world during 2040s and 2050s. Many of us would experience such neurodegenerations which are slow changes in brains but will become apparent many decades later.. This risk is real and has been observed in case of Spanish flu as well as other previous pandemics. Brains are effected slowly, so even if currently there are no apparent neurological symptoms, in years to come there will be a gradual cognitive decline..
I have been saying this from the beginning but yeah no one listened, I have arthritis and I use immunosurpressors before getting infected with covid my medicine was stopped for a few months which left my immunesystem being overpowering again, after I got infected with covid my ahrtritis diseappeared for 3 months even when the doctors checked my blood. It all came back tho and I still have problems smelling let's hope that our bodies will fix this shit soon.
In addition to frequent very bad headaches, I have increasingly worsening trembling feeling that is now creating some trouble with fine motor skills. Also I feel I am having trouble just getting a complete sentence out. Painful to move my neck. Dizziness. Nausea. Shortness of breath which is evident but not bad. Mainly feeling like I have to think about breathing. Chest X-ray clear. I have other COVID symptoms but no fever. I saw the doctor and they gave no test but diagnosed probable mild COVID. I can smell and taste. I do have chronic anxiety which can play a role in my perceptions of symptoms. Been feeling this way for about 3-4 weeks which came after a period of feeling a bit better for a couple weeks following a few weeks of feeling poorly with shortness of breath back in Feb. thoughts?
Diane , there is a mudra ( yoga using the hands) which very quickly gets rid of anxiety and fear and it really does work ; it is very simple yet powerful . There are several videos about it here on RU-vid . It is the mudra where you make a certain signal with your hands that looks like you are putting your hand up in the air as a sign of giving up . For the brain please look for things that heal the brain such as BRAHMI powder which has helped me a lot with my neurological issues . You can usually get it dirt cheap at Indian Grocers . Please also look into HARITAKI powder again that you can get in Indian Grocers .
I'm trying to figure out what is meant by sort trout .... were you saying something about sorting it out ? What kind of symptoms were you left with afterwards ? Are you saying sore throat and a bad headache ?
I’m so glad I stumbled on this video. I’m 58 days into this virus and I’m having some neurological symptoms. I have a ton of recently onset muscle spasms, pins an needle feelings in hands. I did experience complete loss of smell and taste as well. Is this gonna be long term?
Just sharing… I had covid19 about 2 weeks ago. It’s most probably Omicron. It was mild except for the migraine. I’m ok now but I still feel slight vertigo(like I’m swaying back and forth) I don’t feel it when I’m moving fast, driving, etc. I feel it when I’m sitting or standing still. Btw, I’m fully vaccinated + booster. I hope my mild vertigo goes away.
Day 8 of covid, I had terrible swelling and pain in my eyes and a bad headache. Many more symptoms but includes loss of smell and taste. Now I smell a horrible burning sensation. I'm also always dizzy/vertigo-like in my brain. Mainly on my right side. The loss of senses and dizziness makes me sick. I'm losing weight quickly. I fear is in my brain. When I first got sick I had severe nerve pain so down my spine (I was thinking I was getting shingles). Once that subsided I noticed the loss of taste and smell.
I have Brown C-ord Syndrome. Quick fast disk removal surg #1 recovery time 3 to 6 weaks, Surg # 2 later full C6 (cage) later years pass ,limbart C4 C5 dick compression serg #3 pins ... only 12 mm but painful. recover 8 months. I got Crona Virus and for some reason I also have sever siatica but it took my pain down major. Question: what might you think this has happend?
I just got out of hospital after testing positive for Covid, I had fever of over 40 and really bad pain in my head, like someone was hitting a nerve in my brain with a pick hammer, I have never felt anything like it, I had no cough but was short of breath, ended up developing sepsis and pneumonia
