According to one of the dev blogs, the concept for High Roller Phase 3 is that they _wrote the song first_ and then were like "okay, now we need to make a battle that fits this vibe". And they nailed it.
@@spidey5558For context, he's a guy who claimed that "Nintendo made battle mechanics based on his sound studio's sound effects", albeit baseless claims.
Just wanna say this is some legitimately great turn-based battle music. It's not just a good fight theme, but one that actively adds to the stress you experience selecting moves (which is a very good thing for game design). The beat drop at 2:19 crescendoing into a chilled out relaxed section before the loop, giving you a bit of a release to reflect on your last turn, real good stuff. Reminds me of Rivers In The Desert.
Borderline insanity. You know your in for some shit when it upfront says "Not Canon" The major player and the duck shuffler fuse into the high roller. Which starts the game show. At this point Gags are controlled via pips/points on the gameshow and they have us answer questions via attacking specific cogs. Correct answers damage high roller or benefit us. After that phase he enters his second phase where he attacks us directly. Defeating that activates his third phase, where his white tuxedo turns black and he creates 4 clones that protect him and dance in unison with him. Each clone has its own debuff but toons are now buffed to 999 laff during the phase. Bring down the clones but don't finish him fast enough and he'll create 4 more of different colors and debuffs. Finally beating that we get the rewards. It's super tough but since toons power is overridden anyway its all skill.
This song makes doing the one cycle strat and stalling for pips WAY less boring. The guitar solo, the guitar blasting straight into the calming portion GOD ITS SO GOOD
@@panca2500 The devs must have cause if you listen to some of the themes closely it sounds like some of the them were inspired (by accident or not) by that game. Not to mention High Roller’s Phase 3 literally starts with him doing a R2 bit
Some spoilers for the high roller fight: Due to how long it took to finish the third phase taking the slow but less risky route, also noting that I may have to do this fight at least 10 times for all of the rewards, this song is definitely going to be burned into my skull soon.
Never would have imagined that Toontown would come this far back when I started playing as a kid in '03 but I am so glad it did favorite parts 0:53, 1:51, 2:20
i have so many thoughts on this song. it made a 50 minute trio third phase (friend's internet died) a lot more bearable, the way the guitar blasts near the end adds a level of intensity to it that i cannot get over, especially with the immediate return to calm, its absolutely magnificent.
„It’s just a silly game about cartoon animals, don’t go crazy with the soundtrack.“ Duke Trickyflip and Main: Genuinely though, I find this song awesome because it uses the same guitar sample as Pokémon Colosseum, AND IT CAME OUT IN 2023. There’s just something about old video game soundtracks that I feared would get lost over time as technology progressed and composers were no longer restricted by the hardware of old consoles, but this song captures that essence perfectly, which is a good sign since ToonTown: Corporate Clash is a reimagining of the original ToonTown. If this game’s Composers can manage to perfectly capture the feeling of the time period in which the original ToonTown was published in, that is a sign of quality. Great work!
That's what a lot of these manager boss tracks do to me. There's a certain rhythm to em that make it so satisfying to listen to, especially when it's timed with everyone's attack patterns.
🎰 I just started playing Corporate Clash 3 days ago after playing Rewritten since 2022. This boss fight completely scattered my processing power. Why is this music so Godly, why is the final phase so anime-like in a TOONTOWN game, what the hell is a pips, why do I have to pick dice 🎲 Thankfully, kind toons helped me during my confusion and we won after what felt like two hours I love the smooth animations and personalities of these cogs like for the Duck Shuffler, it's surreal. Corporate Clash is straight up an Alternate Reality within the Toontown Multiverse, that's my head canon.
this video having almost 75k views is kind of insane. i wouldnt doubt that it has this many views from rewatching the video (i listen to this song at least a few times every week, and i think thats probably putting it lightly) and its just like ... so cool to see that?? im so happy that this game has the recognition it deserves after so long
Trust me! This will work! One more roll... Bargain time! Bargain time! Try again... Toons of the World, Spend Wisely! Don't you jutht love the THRILL of it?! I CAN'T STOP!!! HELP!!! AHHHH!!!!
