Great interview. I remember when George took over vocals in CC and I was all pissed and salty, swore I'd never buy their shit again. I was super pissed that Barnes was gone. Years down the road though, the new shit has really grown on me and Corpsegrinder is 100% genuine and an amazing vocalist. He changed my mind completely after a few records. He's been in the fucking band so long now, I could never imagine CC without him. Great personality this guy has.
Cool Cannibal concert story; was at Mayhem Fest where they were about to play over the stage next to Trivium. I started yelling "F*** Trivium!". Eventually the whole Cannibal crowd started chanting it. Trivium and their fans were not pleased.

@Paul Kreutz in my opinion, they have some of the best ryrhems, riffs the whole nine yards, especially that Dying Remains album is pretty much a neck breaker from start to finish.
George is technically the greatest death metal vocalist of all time. Great stage presence too. I remember seeing him live when I was 16. He demanded the whole audience to start moshing. Then he started barking out lyrics at breakneck speed, headbanging like crazy. I got knocked over onto the ground twice. Got back up and started singing along, air guitaring and air drumming. Was the most brutal concert I've ever been to.
they should re record songs from chris barns albums. i love the way george sounds so much better than chris. would be great to hear a studio recorded version of those songs
Kreator and Possessed are obviously great bands but I wouldn't bring them up when talking about death metal unless you wanted to know what bands were the first to either play or influence the genre. All the first crop of big name bands first three albums were classics and almost without exception their additional output after the third release totally fell off. Those bands include Deicide, Cannibal, Death, Morbid, Obituary, Carcass, and a few others as for the main bands of that era between 1988 and 1992 give or take a year or so. Then bands like Dying Fetus, Internal Bleeding, Deeds of Flesh, General Surgery and Skinless entered the foray. For death metal there was the initial phase with the rise of Cannibal and bands like Autopsy, Dismember, Grave, Unleashed and so on that was great followed by a renaissance right after the black metal craze died down where by 2000 labels like Bizarre Leprous Productions, Bones Brigade, and Sevared Records started putting out a steady stream of brutal death metal that pretty much to this day hasn't been topped. Bands like Jasad, Gorerotted, Exhumed, Dead Infection, Ghoul, Ahumado Granujo, Pigsty, and many more great bands. Nowadays it's a bunch of commie, skinny jean wearing, pink haired soy boys and stupid gore noise. I don't give a fudge what sex relationships anymore has as long as it's not with kids, i don't need to know what letter of the rainbow mafia anyone identifies with. Just shut up and play heavy music without the under water vocals and other bubbly nonsense. If you like black metal good for you, i don't like it but I'd rather hear it instead of gore noise. I like Gore, but I like Goregrind, cybergore grind and bands like Gorgasm, Lord Gore, Goretopsy, and Gorguts.
A healthy, physically fit metalhead is so incredibly rare. Most are pathetic and sad. Next show you go to, take note of what percentage of guys and girls have any physical dignity. It’s shockingly low. Props to the host, for real.

The thing i love about Cannibal Corpse is they are just regular guys who play brutal music; they congregate among the regular schmucks like me and never let fame get to their heads.
