Unrelated to the flat-brim nu-fag gahbbitch. It’s NYC/NJ style. We did this shit before the toolbags. It’s coming from bikers and street people. Not so much the brim but definitely the bandanas.
Not even a minute in and he shouts out Hellwitch! I already know I'll love this interview! Hellwitch deserves so much more credit! I'd love to see J Dawg interview Pat Ranieri
J-Dawgs out for blood right out the gate. Basically berates dude in a death metal band for not liking death metal. Lol. Then he shoehorns Mortician into every question. Fantastic stuff.
These interviews just keep getting better! It’s so entertaining to hear these musicians opinions on other music, it’s more or less that you know what they’re talking about instead of being some rando, it’s more authentic and genuine imo.
Great comment by Danny: 24:08 - 25:40. 1980s were competitive too. That's why many different metal genres evolved. Now days unoriginal bands copy old bands then call themselves OSDM.
Cant wait for their new album. Seen them last year with Mike Heller on drums, of the hundreds ive seen, Malignancy was one of the best live bands ive ever heard.
The dude who "doesn't even like Death Metal" had the most surprising choice for favorite DM album. FINALLY someone didn't say " Seven Churches" or " Alters of Madness". That being said, I find Human Remains unlistenable. Great interview Dawg!!
Bruh Ronnie from Yonkers has got to be one of the best guitarists on the planet. My jaw dropped and hit the floor when I saw Malignancy open for Defeated Sanity.
@@dinkins335 I never got to see them in the early 90's for I was living in Europe and they weren't touring much there. I don't care much about anything they have released after Bobby left the band. SOIA usually rips live !
I loved it when Danny said singers need to write actual lyrics and not just guttural patterns. I agree. I feel that they're just cheating through the songs, just making guttural sounds and not saying actual words under the growling too.
Idk man, bands like Peeling Flesh, Kraanium, etc. The lyrics are probably about some retarded horror film metal shit. It's more of an instrument to me. If I care enough I'll look up the lyrics. This is coming from a drummer.
@@justinhorval8491 Loved the interview Dawg, Danny Nelson seems cool as can be and big thanks for the call out at 9:43, so I'm a "doink" LOL it's cool man, I've been called worse. Just wondering if you've received the package yet? I sent a certain demo you'd been wanting, (Carrion Lord) plus some other cool shit. I have access to certain channels where I can get virtually any demo that exists. If you can't find something you want drop me DM and I'll look into it brah.
@@philanselmosboxers lol You're commenting on a 11 day old post, how very current and topical...... I'll be more direct. Certain channels = SoulSeek (a person to person sharing platform)
Gotta agree with Dan on Reek I can listen to it but some of those other Dawg recommendations Pharmacist, Repulsion etc are way better.. Symphonies on for me as far as Carcass goes General Surgery and County Medical Examiners are GREAT - We need a Hells pressing of all those General Surgery albums🙏🏻🙏🏻
Blasphemy is pretty good, but I prefer the first Mike Saez album Infernal Storm , None of their albums are quite as good as Onward To Golgotha. Still one of the best Death Metal albums ever recorded. I like every Incantation album though
It's bands like this that made me stop listening to black metal altogether and seek out the weirdest, most creative death/grind. 20 years later and nothing has changed 😎
Thanks to the older devils I checked em out !! They should tour or open with more younger bands at this point….. sometimes the opener can be better than the newer stuff
It’s funny cause these guys hate numetal or coal chamber but I love bands like malignancy and deicide and I also love korn and coal chamber. It’s Always good to keep a open mind but to each it’s own cheers
NWOSDM & It's Not "Core" It Wil Never Be The 90's But We've Gotta Move Forward For The Next Gen. We Just Hope They Carry On With Solid The Integrity Guys 🤘😜
@@distributorovkvlt-points5481you'll always be a newjack hustla to me, bro-towny. .No legit head is slurpin n burpin on piles of modern death metal dooodoo.
@@Leave_The_Hall_69 Spirit of Death Metal = One Sharp Cookie 1. You don't know what you're talking about. 2. I've done got's Metal from all era's. 3. My glorious " Top 10 Metal Albums of All Time" list is dominated by the 80's and 90's - the soul exception being: Nile's epic "Vile Nilotic Rites" What else you got? You know it makes for a hilarious read when internet trolls come up with their own "facts" and assessments.
Malignancy rulez. Original super brutal death metal. Got to smoke down with ron years ago and he told me then that he doesn't really listen to alot of death metal pretty much all classic rock i was shocked. But hes a absolutely fantastic guitarist who plays stuff no one else could think of. Hey man we like what we like, and were inspired by what were inspired by. \m/
Personally, I could give a fuck less when bands are highly influenced by or even straight up mimic other bands sound if they do a good job of it. I'm all for originality and the metal world could certainly use more of it but not wanting to support another band because they mimic another band's sound is ridiculous to me. A lot of times, a band will either change their sound (Carcass), or aren't currently coming out with new albums (Mortician) and having other bands to listen to that sound similar to them is a great thing. I can't think of a single case when the "imitator" got more popular than the original, although I imagine it's happened before, but I don't think that's ever the point.
It's 2023. It's not hard at all to download and blow up cover art on photoshop. Is there some legal reason why they can only use an old cd copy like in the dark ages???
@@Austin-iv2gl up until death rituals they're all great american death metal records to me. Undead and unborn were great too. Crypt is a 10 for me. Now torment and nightmare are my least favorite but I'm not knocking them. All in all a great US Death metal band. And to tell you the truth I prefer their discography better than Cannibal's latest works.(meaning after Galley of suicide)
Gotta disagree with Justin about Deicide. Their first 3 albums are absolute death metal gold and must haves. Serpents of the light is decent although not as good as the first 3 (The guitar tone on that album sounds weak in comparison to the first 3 albums). After that everything is either mediocre or dogshit. Saying Deicide hasn't released a bad album is like saying Grave hasn't released a bad album and that everything Grave has ever done is death metal Greatness.
Hats got to go, but Spidey? Spidey kicks fuckin ass, just Hollywood gayed up the character with last couple movies having a 12 year old soy boy playing the man
