Norinco surplus has not been corrosive since the late sixties. I shot 750 bullets from factory 71, production year 1996, and about 550 rounds from factory 61, production year 2002. Cleaned the AK about 2 times in the stretch of a year and a half and there was ZERO corrosion. Rounds not super accurate, but I wont miss a human at 200 - 250 meters. Shot it with Norinco Type56S, and to date it have never botched a cycle. The 750 1996 bullets was lacquer coated and the rest copper washed.

Question so what if you use a coat of grease on the bolt and carrier i wonder if those parts would rust or not 🤔

@@vincentsilva5663 you know I’m not really sure but imo I think it would only help to protect it more, I made this video a few years ago and just wanted to see what would happen. I still have this ak and still shoot it regularly just not as much as I did when I made this video. 🤙

Saw a guy post on FB the other day he had 2k rounds of corrosive and 3k rounds of good nato sealed primer stuff. Said he was going to shoot the good stuff and save the cheap stuff for later incase of shtf. I said bro that’s some dumb shit you got that backwards. I said the primers are sealed for a reason that shit is meant to be stored and stay good for a long time. Also what if you don’t have any time or water to clean the gun with in a shtf situation …, now your gun has rusted to shit cause you wanna goto war with the cheapest possible ammo lol.

🤦‍♂️ no way dude lmao …. It just goes to show you how much people really know when it comes to what they save …. You couldn’t have worded it better , it just ensures that you can store the ammunition for60 to 100 years or whatever . It doesn’t mean that it’s necessarily great for your rifle , but it’s also not bad for it either as long as you maintain it !!! People just buy it because it’s cheaper not realizing that you get shitty moa out of it , it could damage the rifle and ive even heard of some cases to where they are overcharged and Grenada it goes !! A little bit of research for folks will go a long ways 🤣 … but I also get it because I used to be “that guy” , I think some folks are just so stubborn in their ways and they refuse any foreign idea that their grandpappy told them . We’ve evolved from corrosives primers (Americans) at least because of so many reasons .

What ammo was it. I had a AK 74. In my younger less wise days. When a spam can of 1080 5.45 rounds was 180 dollars. The barrel was corroded. Everything else was fine. Barrel was not chrome lined. I didnt clean it as i should of for corrosive ammo. Watet to dilute the salts then clean and lube as normal

It was an old case of that dead ops shit that I had from a year ago I had two cases of it I think I got it for like 240 or something like that . Either way it’s repackaged vyampel shit , on the rifle I have before it went for warranty I let the corrosion go and I got some pitting on the piston and the front of the bolt carrier …. But I had it in the weather and it sat with the salts on it for a month or two the first time . I have a mosin and I shot so much corrosive shit out of it and the cleaned it so good and it’s still all rusted and pitted up 🤣 I do shoot it every now and then I just have to clean it very well before firing it .
