Well, honestly, I'm a little disappointed by this one, but let's take a look and see what's in there. Heavily Modified Precon: www.moxfield.com/decks/M8RHzG... #commander #edh #magicthegathering #mtg #phyrexia
This is the content that we need. Informative, succinct, and most importantly your content is the Vibe. Truly the chillest MtG channel on RU-vid. Excellent job as always.
The "pillowfort" cards are likely there because people will target you if you play poison counters. I'd probably keep ghostly prison and maybe norn's decree, but that's about it.
I'm almost compltetly new to magic, just started arena this week. I can understand how not all the effects working towards the same goal would be suboptimal for competitive play, but I think this sounds really fun and not oppressing for when I introduce others to the game.
For me the only but reallyyyyy annoying part of this deck is that, as you pointed out, there are soooo many cards in the mainset which just should be in the precon, those cards could have made this precon super round! I think it’s just greedy af Hasbro again…
The deck has an interesting concept but as you point out, it needs some upgrades from the main set. Cards like Necrogen Rotpriest or Skrelv's Hive are a good example of cards. Regarding Hasbro being greedy, I feel that's a bit off since no matter what they do we'll just call them greedy mainly because they lost the public's trust
If you want to build a commander, the question is: Do I just buy the Commander and build my own? Or is there enough value/cards that I want to justify buying the precon? At least, those are the things that I consider.
Well, as a maindeck strategy it's not as good in practice. It can definitely work, but there is a reason that there are no tier-1 CEDH infect decks. However, I've used one off infect cards like Triumph of the Hordes and Grafted Exoskeleton to take players out. I mean, feel free to debate it, I can be wrong, just ask my ex-girlfriend.
I was thinking the same. I've never had an infection deck mainly because I thought it would make me archenemy from the gate. Infect makes it so you only have to do a quarter damage in commander to win, that's crazy powerful, especially with proliferation.
Triumph is a checky quick win card. Infects biggest problem is consistency. There not enough good creature to fill cedh list where even optimal creature list stuggle to keep up with combo decks. However, mutuating an infect creature, tainted striking, blightsteel, Ezuri pump, etc. When somebody dies to an infect creature its usually a single turn event. Hopefully toxic makes it a more fair mechanic.
