Corruption or Crimson, Which is Better?

You know you've achieved perfectly balanced gameplay when the players are split down the middle on which infectious biome is better yet they still love both.

i wish we had more mirrored exclusive biomes like this, imagine if there was a tundra alternative to golem and you could only have one

Forget the election, this is the REAL debate.

For people that doesn't know yet. You can buy the other world evils seeds from the dryad while she is in a graveyard biome in hardmode. With a little work creating artificial biomes you can easily get almost all loot in a single world.

I have 1000 hours on terraria and i have to say the crimson being mostly a nice flat plain with no annoying pits is my main reason for picking it all the time

I personally prefer crimson for the following reasons: -the ichor debuff is rather useful in early hardmode -Brain is more fun for me -it’s easier to navigate early on (like you said) I don’t want to fall to my death 2,763 times

I feel like roles could also make a difference here, specifically melee and ranger. Corruption seems to have more stuff related to ranger while crimson is more related to melee

I think I prefer the Crimson, but having to deal with spiders (arachniphobia lol) and losing access to Wrath potions is a hard sell, even in exchange for Ichor. Still, you can always just hop to a disposable secondary world with the other evil biome no matter which one your main world has.

For me it's always been like: Corruption has the less annoying enemies, Crimson has the cooler gear, Crimson has the money farming boss, Corruption has an easier boss, but also Crimson has a lot of red and that is a favorite color of mine lol This said, I typically gen a corruption world anyways when doing a new character.

This decision is so damn hard. The highlight for corruption is the wrath potion for me, while for crimson it's ichor. Both are absolutely amazing in combat.

The crimson feels alive. It feels like something is watching you.

Crimson is so much better. I appreciate it's lore so much as this living, infesting thing that just wants to assimilate your world as it has done to so many others. Also the music is so good, it basically sounds like the biome is "waking up" to your presence as it tries to kill you and ultimately assimilate you into its being. It's aggressive, throwing everything at you like something out of Berserk's Eclipse, which makes it all the more frightening to you when it quickly erodes the world in Hardmode. It feels like you're running from it even more, given the danger it brings to you. Add onto the fact it feels like an alien presence, unnatural to your world, and you got yourself a good threat to deal with in the back your mind as you search the world for resources. All in all I think Crimson is so much more effective in its role as an Evil Biome.

Crimson. And yes, vampire knives are the deciding factor since I can never remember to get health potions and it’s easy in boss fights to go on the defensive and dodge while healing.

Both biomes are awesome and cool, however its a bit hard for me to decide what biome i should choose next whenever starting upp an new world, but then i came upp the idea of choosing a different biome after playing in the other biome in my other world, which was pretty good choice for me.

I like to play with two worlds, one where I do most of the stuff in, and a secondary one for the alternate evil biome and other things I'd like to do there.

Crimson music: Dark and scary Corruption music: beep boop

I prefer corruption because I had terraria 1.2 on my phone when I was like 8 and the face monster sounds traumatized me

I'll never understand why alot of people don't just make 2 worlds to reap the benefits of both on one character

The first time i played with my friends it was in a corruption world. I cant tell you how scary it was to just go around the map and suddenly see a flying worm with 7 eyes followed by 5 more of them. I like the crimson but corruption is my favorite.

Why choose, then you can have both! Drunk world, or seeds from dryad in graveyard.

Also let's give props to the Terraria team for making an alternative to the Corruption that is almost exactly as much liked.

I would also point out that the corrupt mimic drops the clinger staff and the crimson mimic drops the fetid baghnakhs, which are both very good weapons, but for a different class.

Just be thankful the creature in the background of the Crimson ain't alive anymore because it seems as if it's 10x as big as Moon Lord is.

People always talk about the evil biomes’ color pallets but I never hear about how they expand in Hardmode. The corruption’s cursed flames turns its relatively monochrome color scheme to a purple and lime, which works well for its overall diseased, infected theme, while the crimson’s ichor expands upon its red, gory theme with a fitting yellow

Corruption Why: Because I have a pet purple worm on a string, and he likes to roleplay as Eater of Worlds.

As a melee, I need ichor. If I stack Ichor with the sharpened buff, I will have 32 armor penetration, which is absolutely broken.

I know certain seeds contain the two infections, but if you want to use crimson any time you want just use the graveyard, since when the dryad is in the graveyard she will give you the opposite infection seeds.

I choose both, since it's possible to obtain corruption or crimson seeds if you have their respective counterpart world, that way you can have both ichor and cursed flames, which personally is the biggest difference to me. Using both is so much fun..

2 years ago it was pretty split, but now after the buffs to the brain of confusion, the bladetongue, the drippler crippler, if you are a melee player there is really only one option

My only reason for corruption being my favorite is how fun the music is! It also just feels so creative when they put the leitmotif in the underground theme and its almost like they wanted to trick you with the intro being the normal underground theme.

I just wanna quickly mention this but, you forgot the brain of confusion. That accessory CARRIED my entire melee master mode playthrough and I cannot list how many times that thing saved my life.

Worm scarf, corruption music, and that color pallette is dope. Eater of Worlds is fun, too. Buuuut, vampire knives.

Ya know, it's weird. Purple is my favorite color, I love eldritch creatures, and adore the theming of the corruption, but I vastly prefer the crimson. Something about its environment just feels better and scratches some sort of itch, same reason I love the Plague Flight from Flight Rising and the whole idea behind the Mystery Flesh Pit. Something about a fleshy landscape and venturing into the maw of the beast to face the source of the heinous creature infecting and spreading across the land is just so satisfying to me

what world evil i choose depends on the mods i play for some reason if its calamity its always crimson, anything else and its corruption

I also really like the fetid bagnakhs in crimson and prefer it because the eow and destroyer are very similar, whereas the brain is very different

what about brain of confusion? Instead of getting less damage, you can just skip damage sometimes, for example, it can safe you from dying to the boss and give you chance to get healed by the nurse

The crimson creates these cool caves with body like caverns that feel like they’re breathing. The enemies are scary, bloody and truly evil. The corruption creates these gigantic nasty pits that ruin the world & sometimes cross horizontally and the enemies are just various sizes and lengths of eye covered bugs. Hell, when I first discovered the crimson I didn’t even realize it was an alternate version of the corruption. I just thought it was a cool biome, in fact it was my favorite one.

Vampire Knives. Just love them, hence why I prefer crimson

Not sure if it's because I play on master mode most of the time. I like to play on crimson map (although I always choose random) because of the BoC accessory. Dodging one attack is so much more beneficial than damage reduction since the enemy hit so hard.

I like both equally, so choosing is pretty hard and even if i pick random i feel unsatisfied with whatever it chosr

You forgot the vilethorn, a sadly underappreciated mage weapon. I feel most mages on expert and master mode will agree that having this thing can be a godsend against most pre-hard mode enemies. One cast rapidly ticks out damage and can slow down most enemies to a near halt without pushing them around. Base 10 mana, 10 damage, up to 7 ticks of damage on all enemies it touches, a reach of 15 tiles, and block-piercing? Super helpful.

am i wierd for never using buffs for boss fights? i always forget to buff until after the boss is summoned, by which time it's too late to run back to base and get my potions. and the only potion i actually carry with me is health.

Well, personally, I just choose one or the other, and if I need something from the other biome I just create a new world. Pretty simple.

I prefer the crimson in my main world, but i always make a second world for corruption items

I like both but the vampire knives are much better imo, I dont really get them anymore but that's how I beat golem my first time so it just has a spot in my heart

I have seen 2 polls one of RU-vid and the other on Twitter where they we're both at 50/50.

Now with the recent buffs to the brain of confusion, its hard telling which boss expert drop is better I think I still gotta give it to the worm scarf

in general i would chose crimson because: 1. the brain of cuthulu drops the brain of confusion, which gives a 1/6 chance of dodging an attack ( roughly 17% dodge chance) which makes it extremely good vs the empress of light daytime fight 2. ichor 3. the armor set i feel benifits also rangers since it doesent just give melee speed, so i use it on both classes 4. if you are playing meelee you can get the flesh knuckleswich can be made into a hero shield or a berserkers glove ( tho hero shield is not very good because it will only increase your defence by 1 more from the paladins shield) Edit: the shield has been changed to give 10 defence,! 5. and because i like the way that u dont fall into holes when exploring the corruption, and the fact that theres not multiple ways to get inside the crimson! 6. i like the variety of enemies 7. i like a challenge i like both biomes but the crimson i feel has more pros than corruption

I like the corruption more cause I like the color palette, music, its also softer look on my eyes, and I’ve kinda grown with using a corruption biome because I thought that crimson was too scary and would try to get out as quick as possible lol.

I think the Crimson is Cthulhu's blood or the remains of a war that happen years and years ago because of all the giant bones in the background and I feel like the eye of cthulhu was from the Crimson because in the background there are giant eyes in the background as well.
