Excellent video, gave me a great head start. a good tip as well is to put an M8 stud about 30-40mm long in the bottom bolt thread before fitting the new starter. it will line up the starter and the 2 bolt holes also taking the weight of the starter, making it a lot easier to get the top (braille) bolt in. After tightening the top bolt half way take the stud out and replace with the earth bolt.

Cheers mate. My car's not starting and I came to the conclusion that the starter motor is fucked. Figured that since I'm stuck at home, I might aswell fix it myself rather than take it to a garage. Since it'll give me something to do while I'm glued to my house given this coronacrap is going about. Appreciate the video.
Thanks, I did it on my son's car today and only had the ramps available. But it worked. So the reverse assembly was a lot worse. I hope I don't have to do this again for a long time.
nice one tom I was under the corsa yesterday fitting a crank shaft sensor I looked at the starer motor position and concluded it would be a pig to remove
@@TomsDriveway Well I'm back because my starter motor has started sticking after starting (just a second or 2) sounds like the solenoid Is not pulling it back quick enough. Just ordered a new one to come this week. So back to get a refresher course! Just wary of the bolts snapping...
Funnily enough mine started sticking and completely failed. I just fitted a new one this morning since the other one was second hand from my dad. Thanks for visiting!
@@TomsDriveway Done mine today, I have no skin on my right forearm and left hand! Got all the bolts out no problem, putting the new one in....grrr the double bolt would just not go in. Got the rear bolt in about 10 seconds. Starts totally different now, I was getting an ECU error on startup with the old one, ok up to now! Did notice my old starter rattled when you shook it...not good! Anyway, good tips like the paper in the socket for the rear bolt was a lifesaver. Cheers man.
Yeah my old starter rattled too actually like a piece is broke inside or something. Funnily enough I found the double bolt the easiest and the top a nightmare. Electric ratchet saved my hands luckily. Nice one anyways
Hi,good video,bit of advice , next time, remove the O2 sensor, remove the V belt and the tensioner, and remove the alternator and you’ll have full access to the starter motor ,you can even undue the 2 13mm bolts from outside the car if you have enough extension bars. It’s a roughly one and a half hour job.
What size engine do you have? I honestly dont know how you got the bolt out thats against the engine. spent 20 minutes+ trying to get the socket onto it blind before I had to give up! I heard some people have to remove the alternator to try get to it
I changed the starter motor thanks to your vid car has same problem not starting just wont turn over any ideas I can hear the relays when turning the key

Have you checked for oil leaks first? If so could be worth stem seals, head gasket etc... you cant skip songs over aux. Its literally just audio input...
