Overall, both of these memory kits in either white or black are excellent choices for either upgrading or building your first PC. With iCue4 you will not be disappointed by the stunning RGB colors. ⚠ Spoilers: The results shocked me and wasn't expecting the older "standard" version to perform the way it did. Running the whole test again, I got the same results! Make sure to check your RAM kit timings carefully before purchasing. These differences aren't so extreme but with larger kits it will add up! I want to test a 32gb version of both in a Ryzen system and see what I find out so make sure to subscribe! Happy to answer all your questions✌🏻
Came from your SL vs RT vs RS video, and this further solidified my decision to go for the SL rather than the Pro; the RGB on the SL straight up looks better and it’s cheaper! Thanks again for the content, man. 😎
Finally! A very good video comparing the two RAM sticks. I’m pretty sure there isn’t any English video about the two RAM sticks. Thanks for the info! It helped a lot.
So glad this helped you Adam! If there are any more comparison videos that need to be on RU-vid in English that will help you let me know! I always want to provide value to a viewer and subscriber when they need it✌🏻
no it varies product to product. 18-22-22-42 is what this chip's XMP setting is set to by default. Usually 16-20-20-38 is for 3200mhz 2x16gb or 16-18-18-36 for 3200mhz 2x8gb. Go to 3:20 in the video. It shows the set timings on the back of the sticks. That was a 8x8gb set which had tested latency 18-19-19-39, the more sticks gives you better latency such as quad channel over dual channel. It can vary between Platinum, Pro and SL as well as configurations but usually 3600mhz sets are all similar usually 18-22-22-42.
Very well made video! I thought it had more views and likes, but i can def say its real good and you are making great content. Keep going with what you are doing and you will sucseeed!
You are the best Alokin! Your comment made my day✌🏻 I just posted this like a week ago so it's still young😋 Thanks for taking the time to watch a video from a smaller creator and giving it/them a chance. Hope your stick around the channel your energy is awesomely beautiful🤍
Hi! Great videos about RAM! I want to build a computer without a video card for the first time, I think about 5600G. Do you think it would be a good combination of this processor and Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro (CL16-19-19-36 // 3600MHz)?
Hi! So glad that you found the video helpful! The performance you'll get with 5600G and the Vengeance kit will be awesome. The ram is clocked slightly higher but it's good to have for future proofing. I have been seeing the SL have better prices but will have to see especially with holiday deals. Let me know what you decide and I'm here for anymore questions during your build!
bro this is my problem now and i’m looking for the answer 😩 i got the old vengeance rgb pro that’s 2x8gb and now i want to upgrade to 32 gb but i just can’t find someone got the old model in my country. so i was questioning can i pair it with the sl model ? i really need the answer 😩

Why would you? Sell all your ram and get a set of new ones. Keep your ram sticks all the same.
I've come here 2 bloody years after it was posted, cause I just picked up a 32gb kit of the sl at Best Buy. Normally for cheap upgrades, I don't look up differences too much, but I had to here, because there's now almost a $100 price difference between these two kits at BB. Blew my mind.
in just a min i found it "SL" stands for Show Log or Seismic Lines and also what is mean of the seismic lines here's ( “shock” waves from an event that travel through the earth and reflect off of subsurface structures in the same manner as sound echos and water waves and ripples ). maybe which means the ram work on the low performance if needed
TY this video saved us from changing our Vengeance Pro for those SL with a friend of mine! Very helpfull! PD: If you have enough space, go for the NOT SL version for the faster clocks! better performance on the same MHz!
well i got 2x16 3600 cl18 pro in black and i wanted to switch to white, since i saw ur video i was having major doubts cause of the performance difference and only SL is available in white. im probably going for it, i hope its not noticable, right?
What I would do is run some benchmarks like I did in this video with your current black kit. Then order the white kit and after the swap, run the same tests and compare results. It should be very unnoticeable if you get a similar kit like this one -> amzn.to/3skXawW Hope that helps and let me know what you decide!
Hi, thanks for the super fasy reply and advice! :) the kit you linked is the exact kit im planning on getting, and the black kit i have is not installed yet - so sadly i cant test it and switch between the two. any other advice you can give me? im really confused as to what should i do ): @@AprilMayRain
Thanks for the information! I'm currently building my computer and I saw the pro variant is 10 dollars cheaper the the sl pro and I didn't know of the sl variant was better or not. Thanks!
I got a question, can these be mixed? I currently have 2 Vengeance RGB Pro C16 3200MHz sticks in my pc, and for christmas i was surprised with 2 Vengeance RGB Pro SL C18 3600MHz sticks. I know you can mix certain RAM and the speeds will just be matched but this wouldn’t work well right?
You should definitely try it out! I don't think it should be your long term solution but seeing if you have performance gains with some bench test would be a good place to start👍🏻 Let me know what you do!
Thanks for the great video! The problem I am facing right now is that I can actually get PRO at a cheaper price than SL, I am also planning to get TUF GT301 (ATX) case so I feel the ram height won't be too much of a problem (I hope?). However, this is my first time building a PC so I'm not too sure. Which on would you recommend in this case?
I would try and go for the SL. In the long term it will be a better solution for you. If the PRO is like wayyy cheaper, then it might be worth it. They both will look great with the TUF GT301 though.
Hmm, I don't understand why you'd praise the SL for being 1 degree cooler than the standard PRO... RAM heat-sinks are mostly there for show these days, the size difference in them won't really make a difference in their cooling capacity, at least not a noticeable one. The main reason for the difference of 1 degree you're seeing is that the PRO is running at 18-19-19-39, as compared to the SL's 18-22-22-42. That slight difference is enough to cause that 1 degree difference, which is also the reason why it scored better in tests. I'd even wager that if you Overclocked that SL kit to hit 18-19-19-39, it most probably could do it, but it would then run at, or even a degree hotter than the PRO. So really, the only two reasons to get the SL over the PRO are: looks, and the shorter height, which makes it fit in more cases and with more coolers. Otherwise, you'd be better off with the slightly faster and cheaper PRO.
Very insightful comment Scott. As I said, the tests weren't controlled so if the ambient temperatures changed or the first test I ran before the system temperatures increase altered the results of the next test then that's a factor. And yes, speed and price should take priority in the decision. I don't know if Corsair will still produce Pros in a year or 2 from now so I still recommend SL for the future-proof aspect and the newer more efficient PCB design.
is there a big difference in FPS by going with tehe PRO or SL? If so, how much of a difference? I have Corsair LPX RAM but I want some RGB RAM and I am undecided to pick between the SL or PRO. Thank you very much!
I wouldn’t take a “vs” benchmark to heart for this. Every ram kit is going to have differences even if they are the same kit. Both preformed well and probably wouldn’t be distinguishable in day to day tasks.
I agree there are sooo many factors when comparing and with minimal unnoticeable performance differences you could go either way and it's still a suitable choice.
It is compatible but I wouldn't purchase the Pro SL just to replace your Pro kit. If you are going for a 16gb to 32gb upgrade, then I would purchase a 32gb SL kit on its own. The Pro kit that you have you would not use with the SL kit so selling it or giving it away would be an option.
@@AprilMayRain I see I see. I do have the option to buy an identical Pro kit here, I just saw that the Pro SL was cheaper. I'll stick with another set of Pros. Thank you for the info!
I have the vengeance pro and just bought the pro so thinking they were the same thing. My computer keeps blue screening now that I have both installed. Are they not compatible? Am I doing something wrong? I’m so confused
This could be something more serious Jack... Try replacing your original pro with the pro you just bought and let me know if that works. DM me on Insta with pics if you are still having problems with blue sceen👍
My vengeance rgb pro SL. Most of the time isn’t showing up in ICUE when it does it does not let me control the rgb is there a fix or did I get a bad batch
I had some similar problems. What I would do is swap your ram around, update bios on your motherboard, make sure you are using iCue4, and then try! Let me know if that works!
I don’t fully recommend it but your PC would run okay if you’re keeping your workloads light. You can game and stuff but I wouldn’t recommend heavy video editing, simulations, or AI intensive workloads👍🏻 so it depends what your main use of your PC is. If you’re monitoring hospital patient’s heartbeats or landing planes on an air field then please don’t mix both🙏🏻
@@AprilMayRain my primary reasoning is because I have corsair vengeance pro rgb kit at 18-22-22-42 3600 MHz and vengeance pro sl kit at the same timing and frequency
@@GlassParasite It's really rare to find 2 different kits with the same timings so you are lucky! In this case, you are most likely to run your configuration issue free! BUT I would still not make this a long term solution :) You just have the highest odds of not having any problems 👍🏻
@@AprilMayRain I really appreciate the help, im running them both right now and they're working wonders, I'm only using do different kits at the moment because it's all that was in stock until my order comes in for a new case. Thanks alot for the advice c:
Can I use the SL and the Non SL together in 1 system? I got my build made 6 months ago with 16gb (8 x 2) sticks of non SL and now I want to upgrade it to 32gb (8 x 4) but unable to find the non SL.
i wouldve also tested this using an amd system to show both results for both type of pc builds. but all in all i got the answers i came for, much appreciated👌🏻
Hola a todos! Buenas noches! Me podría ayudar? Y por último... Qué diferencia hay entre está versión de Corsair Dominator Platinum vs Vengeance Pro? Cuál es mejor? Me podrían ayudar? Se los agradecería muchísimo. Soy de Argentina. Saludos
Yes, you are able to use a 32gb kit and in fact, I 100% recommend it. If you're gaming in 2021, 8gb won't get you far lol I would recommend the SL if you want to go Cosair
My question is, would U suggest the Vengeance rgb pro sl over the trident z neo? In my opinion the corsair sticks look cleaner to me and they are about $5 less expensive than the trident z neo on newegg rn, but i’m nervous that the timings are gonna be worse on the corsair even though they are listed as the same for both.
I get this question a lot Martian and it's a great question. For my recommendation, if you have ANY Corsair products or going for a "cleaner" looking build, then go with Vengence. Even with timings and costs, the difference is slight enough to choose based off of style, RGB control, and future upgrades. Hope that helps man!
@@AprilMayRain Thanks for the help. In the end I decided to get the vengeance and I don’t regret it. I love when things are symmetrical, so if I got the trident z neo I probably would’ve been bugged by the flipped design on each side and how it makes the rgb on top look zig-zagged. I’m perfectly fine with losing a tiny bit of performance and gaining the cleaner look.
I have 64GB of RAM because I use it for video editing, gaming, software development, and local AI/ML tasks, which require a lot of memory for optimal performance. The PC is on the intel x299 platform which is server-grade and has 8 DIMM slots.
How much of an impact will the differences be when gaming? Will I get huge fps drops or are the differences not significant while gaming? Planning on getting the SL
Awesome! do you advice that I'm going to add 2 more rgb pro 3200 to make it 32gb, and I'm mainly using it more to video editing. I'm planing to upgrade to 3600 will it be worth it? Thanks
Don’t know if anyone paid attention to when he showed the latency # or not. But that explains why his older sets is faster cause they were lower to begin with. His older model is 18-19-19-39 where as the newer one (SL model) is 18-22-22-42. Here’s the time stamp to see for your self 3:22
This is great clarification because Corsair only will state the first CL number with the product. This is a great example showing how sensitive latency is to performance.
You say theres a big difference in cpu z but is there a big difference in gaming fps? and is it better or worse than g skill trident z rgb (3200mhz 32gb (2x16) c16)
i have the same ram, but my uncore frequency is 898.2 mhz in cpu0z, where yours says 4000..... anybody care to explain? and i getting less performance ?
I don't think that's worth the upgrade Richard. If you have 4 sticks of 8gb dominator and were going to 2 sticks of 16gb vengeance I still don't think that's worth it due to the RGB looking better on the 4 stick kits. BUT you can always purchase through amazon, try the vengeance out and if you love the look in your PC with the performance, sell your dominator. If not, return to amazon 100% free no harm done!
Currently thinking of switching to the SL. I actually have a really nice kit of 3600 CL16 Trident Z Royal Elite in there right now but it's a hassle not having the ram RGB controlled by ICUE. Might be worth the drop to 3200 CL16 just for the lighting simplicity. Also I think it looks better since the entire rest of the build is white Corsair
I think it would be worth it going to Corsair if you also went from 8 to 16gb or 16 to 32gb or 32 to 64gb. That would make your upgrade not only aesthetically look better but also function better.
Great video. I did buy the SL first as I didn't even see that the RGB Pro were only a few £ more. I inisially had some non RGB 3200Mhz @ 16 18 18 36 and wanted to upgrade my MB, ram and cooler - when I enabled XMP in my new motherboard I realised I was only getting like 18 20 20 40 or something like that with the SL, so I tweaked to 16 18 18 36 and ran memtest and no errors, so I've decided to pair with my old ones at those speeds for now and now have 32GB. I'm thinking of getting another pair - would you recommend getting another 2x 16GB SL models to match or should I consider returning the SL and buying 4x 16GB RGB Pro? I don't think I can hit 3600MHZ with modified timings with the SL. Thanks!
Yo thanks for watching! Great insights and XMP tweaking! This will depend on a few things. I will always recommend the SL's over the Pro's now that the Pro's are phasing out of production. It also depends on your daily PC activities that will depend if you quad or dual channel and the small boost of performance you will get. RGB also looks better with the 4x configuration. Can also see how much used Ram is going for on the used market to sell your old kit for good value. Hope that helps a bit and let me know if you have anymore questions Reckoner✌🏻
@@AprilMayRain Although the slower speeds was disappointing...I decided to go with 32GB since there are so few in white these days and I has a white case. Thx!
Sweet, thanks for the vid man. I'll be dropping these in my new build pretty soon (32gb). So far I have a corsair 4000d airflow (white), asus b450 strix gaming ii motherboard, corsair rm750 fully modular psu, 2 ssd's, and an asus strix gtx 980. Still need my ram, cpu (wanting a ryzen 5 5600x), and fans (leaning towards corsair fans lol). My gpu will be a bit underpowered for this system, but it's all I can muster up right now. Any recommendations?
Sounds like an awesome build Brayden! If you live in Colorado I could give you a 1060 I have laying around lol but that's actually not much better than your 980. If you get a Vengeance kit then get Corsair fans because they will look amazing with iCUE. The LL or QL.
@@AprilMayRain Thanks for the offer man but I live in Canada and I already got my 980. I plan on getting some rgb corsair fans, but for now I'm just running stock case fans. My temps are around 70 C at load.
Thank you a lot! My grandpa needs a new Windows 11 PC, and he wanted RGB RAM. So I looked up and couldn't decide between these two. I'll go for the normal one.
I'm building 2 separate pcs, one will go to family and one stays with me. I was thinking of what ram sticks I should keep. Since I have 4 of each. 4 pro and 4 pro sl. I guess I can hold onto the sl. I wanna see the overclock potential when I get it booted up.
@@AprilMayRain not entirely equal. The processors are a 5950x and the 5800X3D The mother boards, the 570 aorus elite, and Rog b-550-f Gpu's is a red devil 6950xt and 6900xt Not entirely close but the same ish. I was wondering about the ram, however I think I know what I'm going with. Thanks for your time in replying. You are awesome.
are people actually sitting and staring at their memory kits? being memorized while watching Cheech and Chong up in smoke? 😜lol, if yes. they need a vacation with NO internet. and seek a doctor immediately.
I wouldn't recommend it for a long-term solution 😬but yes you can! If you do, make sure you alternate the DIMMs so your slots should go SL, Pro, SL, Pro. NOT SL, SL, Pro, Pro. And I wouldn't stress out the Ram too much with that configuration so keep it below 80% utilization. Hope that helps!
That's a great question! The Dominator would be similar in performance as the vengeance so should show similar results compared to the SL. Corsair could be keeping the new SL architecture throughout their memory line so a Dominator SL could be releasing soon! If they release more SL's, I definitely will be doing another comparison.
