Just wanted to point out a few differences between the RT and the RS in case they were missed. AMD is more picky when it comes to memory. Therefore while the RS is only optimised for Intel, The RT though optimised for AMD works better with Intel than the RS. RT is the only model that has a CAS 16 option on 3600mhz modules. RT also has more LEDs than the RS, 10 instead of 6 I think. Therefore, AMD or Intel, RT is the better choice if the slightly higher price is no issue.
Thank you for your findings! I have pinned your comment to help other viewers. Were you able to find an article or information about the LED difference?
@@AprilMayRain I replied to your comment with links from the manufacturer's website confirming the number of LEDs. Don't know what happened to it 😕. For RT, it mentions 10 zone lighting" and for RS it says "6 addressable RGB LEDs".
@@AprilMayRain Here, just copied from the product pages. RS DYNAMIC RGB LIGHTING Illuminate your system with dynamic RGB lighting from six individually addressable RGB LEDs, encased in a panoramic light pipe that offers unobstructed viewing from virtually every angle. RT BRILLIANT TEN-ZONE LIGHTING Illuminate your system with dynamic ten-zone RGB lighting with individually addressable LEDs, encased in a panoramic light pipe that offers unobstructed viewing from virtually every angle.
@@aam77 Corsair totally updated their product descriptions since I made this video. Which it good! Glad you shared this here and hope this helps other viewers!
Thank you so much for this! I just got the RGB RT for my Ryzen build and I was so confused as to why I never really saw much people use it in their builds, it was always the RGB Pro SL
Dude you're a lifesaver. I was getting annoyed at how confusing these various corsair RAMs are. Unique approach, relevant and comprehensive comparisons. Solved my problem! Subscribed!
1:26 Oh my god the RGB sync tip is so useful! One of the most dreadful thing for me is how to control the RGB, what all software to use when you're using different brands. Actually would love a video on that - how to sync your case fans, separate fans, graphics card, ram - what all cables, controllers, and software you'll need.
Hi MultiSciGeek! I have a few videos trying different lighting softwares but nothing that goes through all components to one software. That video would be super fun to make tho and I think the best way for me to make it interesting would be to take a friends or a used PC with all different RGB components and get them all to work with one software for them lol
Super informative video! I’ve been doing so much research on PC building lately and have been refining my plans for my eventual first build (as soon as RTX 3000 series prices get to MSRP, LOL). I’m becoming more and more of a fan of RGB PC components, and you did a great job explaining these RGB RAM sticks in particular. I’m probably gonna go with the SL just because I think it looks the best. 😂 Thanks for the content!
This is like a year late, but one important difference to note is that the RS memory only has 6 LEDs per stick, whereas the RT has 10. The SL should also have 10, though the number isn't specified on Corsair's website. Great video though, super informative!
It's never too late!! Corsair updated there website like right after I posted this video specifying their LEDs! When looking at both it was hard for me to notice but I bet it's noticeable once you start individually adjusting the colors instead of me seeing the default rainbow side by side. I pinned your comment so hope that helps other viewers! Thanks for looking out just a dude!😎
DUDEEEE I REMEMBER I WATCHED YOU A LONG TIME AGO AND I USED TO COMMENT TOO. I even joined your clash of clans and clash royale clans. I just wanted to see how you were doing and I’m glad to see that you’re doing well. I was in middle school when I first watched you and now I’m 19 so it’s been so long.
Yooooo! That literally felt like FOREVER ago haha such good times!!!! I miss the clash content and I bet I can find you in the comments on those videos😊 Hope life is great, you're staying positive, and doing what you love everyday! Really great to have you still watching after all these years!😎✌🏻
It's finally here! This is one of my most viewer requested videos ever! I face off Corsair's newest DDR4 memory kits in performance, physical design and RGB. Hope you enjoy!🍿
Just a quick note from reading online articles, the RT (AMD Optimized) apparently has 10 LEDs on the top while the RS only has 6. From the video though it really seems like there is no difference.
You absolutely rock April May Rain!! I just built my first PC & been struggling for the past couple days trying to figure out the differences and what to get especially since I’m so indecisive and you’ve saved me time, energy, and given me the answers that I need!! Thank you so much!!
Hello, I have a z490 and I'm thinking of switching to a z690. Can you tell me which is better to buy RT or RS? The budget is not limited. I myself tend to RT more. And is there a difference between 2x16gb and 4x8gb?
Hey Ploudy! The RT is a good choice but if budget isn't a problem, DDR5 is what I would look into for your z690 (ddr5 will not work on your z490). For the kit configuration (like 2x16), the first number (2) is how many sticks and the second number (16) is the gb capacity. If you plan on upgrading to 64gb in the future, I would go with the 2x16. You can add another kit to go to 64gb where the 4x8 you will have no more available slots in a standard 4 DIMM slotted motherboard. He's a link to Corsair Vengeance DDR5 that I recommend. I plan on making DDR5 content soon so stay tuned! Let me know if you have any more questions! Stay awesome Ploudy! amzn.to/3R0Th6A
@@AprilMayRain Thanks for the answer) I wanted to buy Z690 on ddr4 version. and I thought to buy it along with this RAM. I don't know if it's worth overpaying for ddr5. Is there a big difference between ddr4 and ddr5?
Before switching to AMD I was running i7-9700k, Z390 with Corsair RGB RT Ram and ran with no issues. I’m just as confused as you, not sure what they said the RBG RT isn’t COMPATIBLE with Intel instead of saying OPTIMIZED. Their wording must’ve been off. 13:05
Yeah I don’t understand that about the RT either. Even in their specs it shows it is Intel compatible. It’s definitely AMD focused but I don’t get why they say it’s not compatible when they also say it is but not optimized lol
It's very confusing!! Corsair changes their marketing a lot so they might clear this up in the near future. It's strange to me that the AMD optimized option would be more expensive compared to Intels. Like all Intel compatible products have been know to have higher prices so why not make the optimized intel kit more expensive over the AMD lol
@@AprilMayRain honestly it’s all just marketing bullshit. Get a b-die ram and it will do anything you want. Those profiles are pretty much all the same. Yeah it makes things easier for some people but it’s really not that hard to do better optimization than those profiles unless they are a terrible bin
I have older Corsair Ven RGB Ram 3000Mhz 2x8GB (16GB) I have Z390 Gigabtye Aorus Pro Motherboard with Intel 7-8700K with RTX 2080 I want to do soft upgrade to 32GB Ram. What would reccomend for my specs? Thanks
One thing that you may want to do in the future is to include the "SPD" tab from CPU-Z which will show if the ram is "single rank" or "dual rank". Dual rank ram will perform better in gaming than single rank ram as far as fps goes, assuming that the timings and speed are the same. Overall a great video, thanks for the content..
You said you used an intel system to test the RT but there is a AMD test bench described at 11:38. Is that test bench not being used with the RT? Thank you for the video as well, very professional!
Thank you so much for watching and thank you so much for the compliment! The 2 PC were both going to be used if I had any issues running the RT with the intel or the RS with the AMD. The results I got when comparing the 3 kits on AMD with one of the tests were almost exactly the same compared to the Intel (in percentages). I could have then compared Intel to AMD but seemed redundant with already a long video. You are right tho, I should have compared both systems with all tests or at leased mentioned it more. I know I have a slide at the end that kind of compares Intel to AMD but should have covered it more in the beginning of the video for clarification. I will be starting on some comparisons with DDR5 this summer so happy I saw your comments to refresh what I should be including! Thanks again and let me know if you have any more questions!
I have a Meshify 2 case and I have the vengeance pro memory in them. I am thinking about doing my very first custom loop next year with my 5600x. Only thing is that the clearance from my vengeance pro will likely interfere with the rad. So I am interested in the sl or rt 7mm can make a difference it seems. .
Hi, could you help me with this? So I'm building an Ryzen set up and wanted some white looking rams and found out that the SL model has a variant that is almost completely white while the RT (which is suposed to be optimized for Ryzen) does not, it just has a white triangle shape in it, but the frencuencies and all other aspects are the same. Would it be really worth it to buy the SL (due to its completely white design) eventhough is not optimized for Ryzen? or does it really make a difference to have Ram optimezed for your cpu? As in the RT version. Thanks and keep up the good job.
i mean it works hella fine even if it does not have optimisations for a certain cpu. Look at those optimisations like a buff, but, yeah, it works fine without any drop of fps compared to the other one. The real difference is the cpu frequence. At least get a 3000+
Hey Okabe! In your situation, the white SL would be the way to go. You would get more benefit out of a beautiful white designed kit of ram in your PC than a non-all-white kit even with the small bump of performance. You could go with the RT but I feel like if you're vibing with a white look which I don't think the RT will satisfy. Amazon is also awesome so you could order both and return the kit you want. Hope that helps Okabe and feel free to ask anymore questions!
12:00 Correction. RGB configuration is NOT the same in RT and RS. RS has only 6 individually addressable LEDs where the RT has 10 individually addressable LEDs. So the RT's RGB animation flow is way smoother than the RS. Corsair Vengeance RGB RT FTW 😋
Yes! When I made this video, Corsair did not have any RGB information posted but now they do. I have pinned your comment Ravindu so hope it helps other viewers😊😊
RT version can be considered for intel use ?specially for lga1700 ddr4 it has more frequencies variances . since ddr5 bit high when it comes with pricing .
Great Video! Im currently looking for 2x16gb DDR4 3600mhz cl16 ram to upgrade my pc and noticed the huge price difference between de RGB RT, RGB Pro SL and the Trident Z rgb. While the RGB RT only costs 130€ the Trident Z costs 180€ and the RGB Pro SL from Corsair more than 200€! I honestly dont understand why the Price Differenc is so huge. Do you have an idea? And could you recommend any other RGB Ram besides the Corsair and Trident Z ones?
Thanks for watching Granat! Yeah the market has been up and down recently for RAM prices. You can't go wrong with either of them but that RT price isn't bad! It was the most expensive option in the US when I made this video. Other RGB RAMs that I have tried I didn't like the software to control it. I has been awhile so maybe that has changed.
I’m replacing my current 2x8gb 3200 cl16-18-18-36 Corsair with the 2x16gb 3600 cl16-20-20-38 RT kit, will this be generally the same latency or are the higher timings on the RT kit going to be noticeably worse? I’m using a z690 mag tomahawk and i5-12600k btw thanks
Hi! Your new 2x16gb 3600 cl16-20-20-38 RT kit will be noticable better over your 2x8gb 3200 cl16-18-18-36. The jump from 16gb to 32gb will make any worry you have for timings and latency go away😊 If you we going from 2x8gb 3200 cl16-18-18-36 to 2x8gb cl16-20-20-38 then that's when the CAT and MHz becomes a noticeable factor. Your RT kit pairs great with your 12600k so you're golden 🙌🏻🙌🏻
I only have notification setup for you April and like one other channel. For some reason you seem like the most genuine RU-vidr on this platform. Really wish you would post more🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@AprilMayRain Thank you for your kind response. I have a Zenith II Extreme Alpha. The corsair dominator platinum 128 gb is compatible with this MB too, right? :D
Yes you can Kacper👍🏻 The 12600k is compatible with DDR4 and DDR5 kits. All 3 of the models I tested will work for your system. Hope that helps and let me know if you run into any issues and we can assist!
@@AprilMayRain Hello, the RAM came and it worked without a problem, but you can't run XMP on the RT version, so I decided to change the RAM memory to Kingston Fury Renegade. If someone has bought RT version memory and has an intel processor, do not worry that it will not work, but bypassing XMP.
Hi, could you help me with this? I looking for a KIT RAM (2x32 GB) for 5900x/x570i build. I mainly work video, animation and casual gamer. What option do you recomender? is a Corsair Vengeance RGB RT or GSkill TridentZ NEO the best options? some else? Thank u so much for reading
Hi!! I would go with the Corsair Vengeance RGB RT or SL if you have any other corsair products or plan on getting any. The GSkill is a great choice too if controlling your RGB isn't a priority. Corsair has better software to control RGB
Hello, I have a really quick question. So I'm only missing my RAM for my pc and I really need the RT CL16 but when I search it up it shows C16 only. Are both of these the same? And my processor is a Ryzen 5 5500
Hi Rairly! Yes they are both the same. Some companies/manufacturers will just use "C" for short. And all 3 of these RAMs are compatible with your Ryzen 5 5500! Hope that helps!
I see how you can see that! At a close distance, it kind of has that "frozen" effect but it's subtle. The triangles aren't like the Gskill Royals and I would call those a full frozen effect.
just received 2x 64 gb kits of RS 3600. didnt see any notification of amd or intel optimization in the ad i purchased it from newegg on. but it should work just fine with my 5950x system. ran corsair ram for the last 20 years or so and have only had issues on one kit awhile back that came mismatched from the factory but was fixed by corsair quickly
@@FLAMINeu iCue and the RGB lights in my RT work, no problems... but I could see it possibly not working with an incompatible or older motherboard. I have 4 sticks of 16GB for a total of 64GB and my mobo is a MSI Tomahawk Mag Z690 with an i7-12700K CPU.
@@AprilMayRain 3200 is OC speed not SPD, SPD speed is without the oc profile (Intel XMP or AMD EXPO) activated, if the RAM runs 3200 with Intel XMP activated, the SPD speed cant be 3200 too, it has to be lower, normally SPD should be 2133 or 2666 for DDR4
RT is my favorite in terms of looks, also the shop employee I ordered it from mentioned it has better RGB compared to the PRO, since he also has it himself. But one thing you shocked me with is that RT is optimized for amd, while I included 2x8GB 3600mhz RT CL16 for my intel i5 12600kf build. As far as I’ve read it should still work just fine, right?
@@dannyh1la sorry, it works just fine. Never had any problems with the ram, only problem is I still didn’t quite figure out how Corsair’s RGB software works. I had some other problems with my build, which kept me occupied until a few days ago, but nothing concerning the RAM. And btw, it looks dope
The model does not matter. Look at the speeds and timings. Higher MHz and lower timing makes it better These specific kits in the video are kinda bad for the money since they're CL 16 -20-20-38. U can get CL 16-18-18-36 kits from other brands for cheaper like the oLoy Blade RGB. lower timing = lower latency = more and consistent FPS
@@UnluckyDomino yes but I already bought corsair RT and I can only swap with PRO or RS... that would cost me 20 more dollars. I am using intel. RT is optimized for Ryzen. Right?
@@Tranquillz You made a good choice with the RT! Your intel PC should give you excellent results when it come to running the same benchmarks I did. If you are really concerned, hit me up on insta and send me a DM of your speeds/specs so I can compare👍🏻
@@AprilMayRain do you know if Corsair Vengeance LPX c16 3600hz do 4 dimms with the same performance without losing any hz or cl ?? some kits cant do it. I mean 4X8 ... doable or performance loss?
@@Tranquillz If there is a kit that comes in 4 than it will definitely work with no performance losse. If you buy 2 2x8 kits then it should also work with no performance losses. I would hit up the Corsair chat bot if you can from corsair's website. They have been good on answering those kind of questions but let me know!
AMR great informative video! thanks, by the way u were saying get the SL instead of the RGB PRO, i just watched your RGB PRO VS RGB PRO SL video and notice that there is quite significant differences between them in terms of performance. Any advice? I'm on a ROG Strix B660-A D4 motherboard and 12400F. Thanks in advance. Cheers mate.
Thanks for watching man! I would still be looking at the RGB pro SL for your B660 and 12400F. The SL is still newer and overall provides a better experience but either way you can't go wrong!
Very detailed, but tad bit too long, other than that, great video. What I get from this is that the performance differences are very minimal, so choose the one that's cheapest at the time or pick the one with the model that you like.
Hi Andy96! How so? If you are comparing on your own system, you have to make sure you are using the same version of cinebench and specify the muli/single benches when testing.
That's actually a good deal for you! Do you mind sharing what happened with your PC with the 32 gig RS kit? And I subbed, I want to see more RC content 🏎 🐺🙌🏻
