This is basically a big middle finger to a lot of supercars, like the Mclaren P1, McLaren 720S , Ferrari ̶R̶o̶m̶a̶, ̶Ferrari f40, Ford gt just to name a few, (edited leave me alone I can choose whatever cars I want thank you very much.)
Ferrari Roma isn't a competition for this thing. It's more like the 296 and SF90XX are. The rest u listed are most definitely competition for this tho.
I'm a HUGE Corvette fan, but hypercars are measured in around 1500 hp and up nowadays. And don't knock hybrid tech. The electric motors basically can replace turbos for instant acceleration before the engine takes over. Then the motors fill in the torque band while the engine keeps pulling. It's the future and it works better than turbos and superchargers because there's no lag or mechanical friction drag off the engine. The motors are independent of the ICE and can torque fill and even torque steer if set up for that.
@@swordmonkey6635 Yup that’s information most automotive enthusiasts already know. There are pros and cons to every powertrain type: naturally aspirated, forced induction (superchargers / turbos), hybrid, full electric, AWD vs RWD, etc. I wonder if other OEMs will adopt Porsche’s 911 hybrid method - where it doesn’t add an electric motor to a drive axle.
laferrari , porsche 918 , mclaren P1 It's also faster than the current holy trinity. Lambo revuelto, ferrari SF90 , mclaren 750s yet Europeans say it can't compete.
The Ferrari SF90 and Lamborghini Revuelto have hybrid components to help get them to their 1,000 horsepower. In contrast, we have Chevy pumping out 1,064 horsepower from a 5.5L twin-turbocharged V8 with no hybridization whatsoever, which is impressive in itself.
is it suck? yes, but having a corvette that's still outputting 1064hp? still cool and the camaro unfortunately has reached what a perfect muscle car formula it is, which it may be hard to swallow but sometimes they had to.
@@Sub-Zero-392 compare this interiors with other super cars in the market now No crazy big TV on the dash Just a simple interior If u don’t like it me I love it
I am wondering how the next gen Corvette design will look like!!!!! I know that there is still the ZORA to come but I am sure GM designers are working on design sketches for the future of Corvette
The normal new Corvette is a car I do not like the look of in pictures, but in real life it looks amazing. This looks sexy in pictures, and love that they skipped making it a hybrid engine. Would love one
As the above stated, all wheel drive, all season/weather driving, grand sport replacement. Also probably proof of concept for future iterations or generation of the Corvette, battery/hybrids are coming and you gotta start somewhere
I still dont understand why people are calling it "finally" a supercar. Supercars are 500-700hp range. This is Hypercar territory. Thr Corvette has been Supercar equivalent for at least a decade
@@lyricofwise6894 then the Bugatti type 57 SC Atlantic would be a hypercar. It's Performance. Always been Performance. How many "Supercars" can perform better around a track? This car is as fast if not faster than a GT3
1000hp was special a decade ago. Not really so now. Exclusivity, price point, performance is where Hypercars differentiate themselves. And the performance bar keeps moving. A hyper car now has to push above 1400 to even be considered as one
🤦 every Corvette soul is burning at the altar of Mopar for eternity. This new off brand Ferrari will join them after the Demon is finished with the C8zr1.
I would have loved if they kept the round lights in the back but just updated and modern as a tip of the hat to the past. I can’t stand the back headlights, im used to them now… but, it would have been awesome.
Corvette is the worlds best sports car, each of its 8 generations have been fantastic. Now a super car that out does super cars twice the price. Stunning looks and performance plus reliability and maintenance that isn’t a rip off, unlike Porsche, Ferrari, lambo, McLaren etc.
It was originally actually going to be supercharged with 850hp, but they realised they had overengineered the cooling system so they basically said, why not add more power
A ETS twin turbo built STOCK engine C8 has done the quarter mile in 8.64 seconds @ 170 MPH. Wonder just how fast this ZR1 will be? This time is faster than a Lucid Sapphire and comes very close to the Nevera which costs $2.4 million!
Luckily, you don't have to worry about not having an open-air experience in the coupe because, for a while now, the coupe versions of Corvettes are targa-tops. So you're not missing out on anything regarding a convertible experience.
@@leomux2004 the Demon wasn't made to corner, bozo. The Dodge Viper is for Corning. The Dodge Demons are straight line American Muscle Cars and nobody performs better in quarter mile racing than those two cars
@@Sub-Zero-392 Let's wait until a C8 ZR1 goes into a drag strip, but now, at least in paper, the C8 ZR1 has everything to beat a heavier, older car. I mean, the C8 has that power with regular gasoline and no preparation, while the Demon 170 needs E85 and a special preparation kit to achive such speed.
They are built for different things and the demon can only launch on a prepped surface. Zr1 can do it all it will be able to beat a revuelto in a drag race and beat the gt3 rs on track
I’ve driven multiple versions of the C8 and it’s no doubt a very fun car. That said, even in person, I can’t stand the design of this thing and it just looks worse now. I hope they do a redesign in a year or two, there is very little design cohesion between the front, sides and back and the graphics are so busy. The rear looks flat and like it was slapped on a generic super car shape, taillights and headlights both sit too high, it’s just a mess. My grandfather has one and he loves how it looks, so I know it’s subjective, it’s just not for me - if I’m buying a supercar, I want it to be beautiful, not gaudy and busy. Lamborghini is at least known for a little more brutality in their designs, but that’s part of their identity - the C8 looks like it has multiple personalities and it drops the overall desirability of the car to me.
Primer grey isn't an appropriate color for a Corvette or a super car. You need to go with a color that pops. Or at least a color that is interesting - like a blue or a green.
Since you’re expert in cars design i have small question 🙋🏻♂️: why C8 does not look fancy enough like the McLaren, Ferrari and Lamborghini? I thought any car with mid engine gonna look fancy but C8 in general it doesn’t look like that specially ZR1 the competitors who are in the same price range they look waaaay fancier they look like 200k$ car
These hp are nothing special. With 5.5L it’s a top number but there’s better engines out there from factory with gas pump. SF-90 V8 is still the most spectacular engine out there
First time I'd consider a Vette maybe over a true exotic! The interior design is a big negative and the RWD is a big negative as well with a car with that much power! Dealers will be asking over $280K for it though!!!
Anyone and everyone can and has their own definition of the word "supercar",.because I'm sure its some superfluous term invested by car magazine writers to sell their magazines. Some people really really need to feel a sense of "prestige" in the crap they buy less their fragile egos be bruised LoL,. Corvette has never been some "muscle car" like those famous high horsepower brutes derived from work-a-day sedans in the mid nineteen sixties. Its more a true two seat sports car designed to sort of compete with the Europeans. Im super glad the 8th gen finally used Zora's idea and put the engine behind the deiver,.like he wanted to back in the 2nd generation.
Not a proper 'supercar' name. A 'corvette' is a small (naval) warship. It is traditionally the smallest class of vessel considered to be a proper (or "rated") warship.
I'll be honest, I never liked the C8's looks, and I think the ZR1 is the worst looking trim. It has the same issue that the C7 ZR1 has where it looks inflated and puffy like it was stung by bees. It looks fussy and messy even more than the regular car already did. I think the Z06 is the best looking C8, but the C6 and C7 generations were much better looking.
