Just be careful putting the window without the holding it outward....if not you will have a good chance of the glass scraping on the metal part of the regulator. The fabric on the door panel is what keeps the glass aligned when it goes up and also keeps it from touching any metal parts.
How difficult is it to replace only the motor, and not the entire motor/regulator assembly ? The motors are fairly cheap, around $50......I have a 2000 vert, and the passenger window wont go down. Car only has 25K miles, so my regulator should be in decent shape.....just the motor is not working.
Great video! I replaced my drivers side in about an hour. Please keep in mind to use a small screw driver to release the door handle trim because it does not come off easy by pulling alone, you will break tabs if your not careful. also use a door panel and trim removal kit, this will make door panel removal a lot easier. and last but not least be careful removing window switchs! I say this because if you break or damage one it will cost you 350.00! I found it easier to remove panel and release the switch from the back side.
Scott, I was afraid you were going to say that, because if it was an easy task, I would have found "How To's" on it..... Thanks for your almost instant reply......
Scott, Compliments on the video and forum! My neighbor has a beautiful 2002 Corvette with an intermittent problem with the passenger side window. Are the regulators a common issue on these vehicles? After getting as much information as I could from the owner and initial checks, there's no consistency or common denominator as to when it acts up.
Great video. My 2002 Vett is driven very little (9700 miles in 10 yrs) and the driver's window stopped working. I watched your video and within an hour had the window working with a gentle tap on the motor. I can only imagine what this wold have cost had I taken it to the Chev dealer. Thanks for the instructions to remove the door panel.
Just wanted to say THANKS for your help. I paid the dealership $598.00 for this repair on the right side. I purchased the regulator on ebay for $65.00 and with your video, did the repair myself in about an hr.
I have just witnessed the most clear and easy to understand instructional video ever to be on RU-vid. Thank you so much for posting this and happy new year’s!!
Still most likely the window motor. Try tapping it with a hammer, that might get it to move. IF you are SURE it is not the switch (which is unlikely) you can cut the cables (NOT the electrical cables, the regulator wires) and the glass will easily come down. Scott
