Lol raven was simply adorable and so charming. She was perfect for this role. I loved michelle in full house too but olivia was definitely more sassy and charming. :)
I love scenes like this! Trying to explain things to kids..hardest task in the world! Kids have the most bizarre thought process, you never know what they'll say!
As a teen I loved how he talked to kids and I said to myself that's the kind of father I'm gonna be. I never had kids of my own but I had plenty of nieces and nephews and that's exactly how I spoke with them like Bill and Raven in this scene they're adults now and we have great friendships between us and they always count on me for a good laugh. Thanks Mr Cosby.
I felt the same way....always wanted my dad to be like his character in the show....and i wanted to marry someone with that character too. So sad to know how he really was though. :/
Yes he always did a great job with his kids, grandkids, and all of their friends during the episodes. That is one thing that I always admired about him.
not really...saying santa can "change color" is a pretty lazy lie...if it were me i would have told the child that he was white,but it never mattered to him what he was,that he loved and cared for all children,so his ethnicity should not matter to children either. (but if im to be real honest,if i have children im not going to lie to children about the existence of Santa.)
When I was five, I didn't have any sense to ask a question like that... I didn't care actually. Back in 1979... mom took me to Macy's to see Santa. My Santa was African American, I'm Caucasian, didn't think anything of it. My whole life, that is what the real Santa looks like to me... so kind and with a beautiful smile... that's all kids care about. Wish grown ups were the same.
Yes, same. All I could think of with this skit was the adult who wrote it. Watching this show in the 80s as a pre-teen in Australia, the family was just "American." And I wanted to marry Theo, haha.

what truth? that mythical figures generally adapt the ethnicity of the people who created them (I'm of the school of thought Santa is derived from Odin, norse god. He's old, has a white beard, lives in a snowy place and has an All-Seeing eye, what better to see what all the kids are up to and making a list and check it twice) I highly doubt anyone would complain that the Hindu gods adopt their humans forms to come down to earth and don't choose to look like black Africans or native Americans
I remember watching this episode when I was around 11 or 12. It might've been the only time race was discussed on the show. Honestly I think it was the first time I ever heard the term Caucasian used, and I was a white kid going to schools where I was the minority. It wasn't a common classification. The term African-American is misleading because not every black person is American and not every African is black.
the term Asian is then useless as South Asians and East Asians are very different and a huge part of Russia is located in Asia people are aware the term is misleading, but on the flip side people generalize Like he said Japanese.....Japanese is just a nationality. Yes, when peole hear Japanese they think someone of east asian descent or hear India and think someone of South Asian descent, but those same generalizations apply less and less to western diverse countries. Like only a little while longer when "white" wont even be the first race that pops into your mind when you think America or British or Canadian.
Myself, I am part Black and refuse to accept African American and me in the same sentence, because myself and generations before me were born here. If I am anything American, I am Native American ( Apache on one side, Cherokee on another side ).

He was real and actually gave presents to kids in a hospital because he was very wealthy. Regardless of what kind of monster he was with women, one of the best selling points of this show was his rapport with little children. There are so many eps of this show with just him and kids, the dynamic he has with them where he was able to talk to them on their level, but not speak in baby-talk or anything like that.
There is nothing wrong with your child having their innocence. My mother teaches my brothers and I about Jesus Christ and how st nick was an actual man but not the magical man society has made him out to be. But at the same time she lets my lil brothers have there imagination. He be asking Santa and sending letters to Santa but he goes and asks my mom for all the gifts. So he knows but my mother also lets her kids be kids and doesn’t crush their innocence. God gave children innocent and fearless spirits for a reason and to break that I feel is messed up. That’s probably why the world is going to crap today. Nobody knows how to genuinely love each other and show a lil humor and imagination. Smh
Me neither. I'm black but when I saw caucasians I thought i was covered in dirt and i couldn't understand why I couldn't get it off. I used bleach and other chemicals to get my skin clean of what I thought was dirt. I only ended up burning my eyes and skin. Young children misinterpret things and it is parents responsibility to educate their children. I didn't realize that the long term use of those chemicals on my skin caused damage until years later. Unfortunately I didn't tell my parents what I was doing either.
@katie Gonzalez I know but she was mentally disabled and did the best she could back then. I wish someone could have helped educate her. It's a miracle my sisters and I are still alive. Fortunately we have the internet now to help us learn about things to be better parents for our children. Btw I wasn't offended. I'm glad I remembered my experience and took precautions for my children so they would be safe. I bought every childproof item the store sold. Lol

This girl, sheesh. That is the type of talent and precociousness that cannot be taught. Every stage parent out there is screaming at their poor kid to act like this but you can't force this talent -- she's just special. It's funny how they switched off comments on the clip where Cosby said he is a doctor he is women's doctor,he helps deliver the babies there was a statement he made on the clip thats got him into the trouble he's into now.
