Really great video for folks about to leave and move to WA. Personally put this in my finance tracker, detail by detail, for peace in mind before I move. Honestly, everywhere is expensive but recognizing that personally we don't always need or want as much as we think. That is not to speak for those struggling to attain basic necessities for survival. Just some thought if you're a regular person discouraged by expenses.

You can get a hamburger at Dick's for about $2.50 or more depending on what you want them to put on it. Mustard and ketchup are about ten cents more. A hamburger with Lettuce, tomato and condiments likely will run about $3, but you can certainly spend more. Fries are expensive, beverages aren't cheap. Still Dicks is a lot less than McDonalds.

As far as parking goes in Seattle it is Best to use public transit when visiting. Now yes if you are living in Seattle and need to travel say a mile or more. Or if you have to be at some place at a certain time and know you won't make it on time when using public transit then yes have and use a car. But if you can afford to use a taxi or Uber or Lyft. Do that.

Don't forget the cost of your soul, as it slowly gets chipped away at everyday as you walk past the miserable and mal-addicted homeless, until it gradually just becomes white noise and you stop noticing....

Yes. Just budget. Live in your means. My wife and I lived in WA for 5 years making 85-90 super comfortable and saving 5k a month

Where did the money come from when people said "screw it, just make it all go up all of the time ! " At some point in the next ten years people will be standing around dazed going " I don't understand, no go up ????"

What is going to happen when people are 67 years old & it is impossible for the younger generations to pay all the old people s social security monthly payments? Are they any old people in Seattle ?

@LivinginSeattleWashington

It depends on your lifestyle, but generally speaking, I think you could do just fine on that. Studio/1BR apartments start at about $1500/mo, depending on the amenities the building has.

7:00 Another reason why groceries are expensive in Seattle may be that shoplifting is de facto legal in Seattle. Laws are not enforced, and store employees are typically under stand down orders to not interfere with shoplifting. I've seen stealing right in front of me. The young man apologized when he saw me noticing him. Stores are bleeding out a lot of money in inventory.
@LivinginSeattleWashington
@LivinginSeattleWashington Год назад
I never thought of that, but that could add to the higher prices. At the City Target downtown you see it all the time. I've seen a guy with things stuffed in his sweatpants and sweatshirt walk straight out of the store.

That’s normal in Seattle for years
@BasementBerean

@@Ppoorespect888 I remember first hearing of this from Safeway people around 2018. But that doesn't make it normal or sustainable indefinitely.
