Cost to Build a Barndominium - Episode 2 - Turnkey vs Shell Costs 

I was thinking the same 😢 I have land in Campbell Texas and from what I see barndos are pretty much luxury houses now.

These guys are definitely on the high side.

Regarding pricing vs stick and brick, the interior design and finish out pricing will be the same regardless of what type of build you go with, most that build a metal home are looking for larger open spaces, porches and shops/garages than are in a traditional home. It becomes difficult to compare an apples to apples comparison because the footprint normally is much different. Thanks for watching.

@@1845Barndo most houses in my area of North Carolina are 160-175 per square foot for stick built custom homes 3 bed 2 bath and a garage for like 200-250k. You guys are like "we are trying to get the cost down 185 per square foot"

185 a ft is full build, from dirt to keys, including septic, utilities and premium finishes ie custom cabinets, quartz countertops. You can of course do it less expensive if you do it all yourself, but not sure how 45-80 is realistic. Thanks for watching

The hill country is a super hot market right now, that pricing doesn't surprise me with the amount of demand that is there.

​@1845Barndo yeah it's crazy, we're gonna build a tiny home instead for now, then hopefully the cost of materials will come down? Or we can build our barndominium slowly and pay as we go.

We have been building metal homes for 25 plus years, turnkey for about 16. The definition, if there is such a thing, has changed for sure for "barndo". We are a custom builder, if the customer wants a just shop and small living quarters and huge shop we would do that as well.
