We went to Costa Maya this past summer, and explored the Chacchoben Ruins. Our local tour guide stopped at the little pineapple village, and that was the best pineapple we have ever eaten. If you are ever in Costa Maya by pass the port and find a local tour guide.
What a lovely way to spend your port day! This is right up my street and I am going to do this tour when I am there next year. I don't need to travel thousands of mile to spend a day at a shopping centre/theme park that is Costa Maya; half-an-hour walking around is quite enough. This is far more informative and authentic. Great stuff!

Hi there. I somehow stumbled across your video! This looked liked so much fun I canceled my other excursion and booked this one! I got ahold of Tino at the company and he actually CALLED me back! He was so friendly and fun to talk to and even gave me some pointers about Cozumel our next stop. I can’t wait to go. This will be our first cruise ever and this excursion looked perfect for us. We will be in Costa Maya Dec 1st. I’ll let you all know how it goes. In the meantime if you have a tips on a nice relaxing beach club in Cozumel let me know. This adventure looked amazing! My husband & I have been to the ruins here before but never Bacalar. We’ll be coming in on a cruise next year for my 50th & will have a group of 10. It is such an incredible adventure! The drive from the ship to the lagoon is a little over an hour, but on the way there we stopped at the temple too so it was broken up into smaller pieces.

Hi! Yes, there were bathrooms at the lagoon where the boat docks, so we were able to use them to change before getting on the boat. We could have used them after too, but there were also bathrooms at the restaurant we went to after the boat ride (just a few minutes from where the boat docks) so we were able to change there without taking up extra time since we were waiting for our food 🌮

Hey! Thanks so much Keith! Our ship did have a really long time at port, we were there for 9 hours, but the company shaped the excursion to our ship's schedule. We spent the full 6 hours on the excursion, but I think it is worth reaching out to them. We had quite a long time relaxing in the lagoon, and eating at the taco spot I bet they could shave it down a little to make sure you made it back to your ship with plenty of time.

We used stock footage for the excursion since we weren’t able to bring drones on the cruise, and for the drone shots of the ship we filmed them from shore in Miami when the next cruise on our ship left port.
@letsmadventure awesome! I'm gonna be honest I'm a little nervous that we didn't book via the cruise ship. It sounds like the company and guides were very professional. Did you guys have any problems finding your guide initially?
I definitely understand. I was nervous too, it was our first time booking without the cruise ship, but they definitely did a great job of making sure everything ran smoothly and on time! They gave us great instructions on how to find our guide, so it was really easy!
Our ship was in the port for 9 hours, but the excursion company worked with our ship's schedule. We were on the excursion for 6 hours, with lots of extra time to relax in the lagoon and enjoy the ruins, so I think even with a ship there for a much shorter time, this would probably be able to make it work!
Their listing says 7 hours, but I think because of how small our group was (literally just us haha) it was closer to 5.5 hours. When we went, they were really accommodating and worked with our cruise schedule.

@@SoursNoodle yes! Virgin is the best with their relatively long excursion times. When we went we had lots of time to get coffee and explore port after the tour.
Omg you should! We had such a great time! We did bring cash to tip the guides, we had pesos left over from our trip to Mexico City last year, but there are so many exchange spots there, I'm sure they would be happy with USD too! Have fun!!!
Compared to other ruins in Mexico I've visited, there was very little walking here. There were people of all ages doing it, from small children to elderly, the most difficult part I can think of is some steep stairs that we took up part of the ruins.
@@letsmadventure hi! I noticed carnival offers a 110% refund if a customer finds an excursion less than the one they offer. Also they guarantee not being left behind. What made y’all desire to book through a separate outside excursion service vs through the cruise?
@@kendreya7399 Hi! We've wanted to visit Bacalar Lagoon for a few years now, and our cruise line didn't offer any excursions that went out on the lagoon in a motorboat to see the cenotes. They only had tubing and kayaking trips that didn't explore the full lagoon. We knew that was the #1 thing on our list to do in Costa Maya, so we decided to branch out and try a different company and found SO many good reviews on this one (and no stories of people missing their boat, we looked into that hard too haha). It ended up being amazing, because we had the tour all to ourselves and had the chance to really talk to the local guides! I definitely understand wanting the guarantee of booking through a cruise line too though. I've been on several cruises with my family and this is the first time we booked separately for that reason.
