The 35-foot long “Home On The Range” Mural on Placentia Avenue depicts various chapters in the history of Costa Mesa. Lovingly painted in 2005 by local artist Peggy Gardner, in recent years the mural fell greatly in need of restoration due to weather and fading. Wishing to save the historic mural the City of Costa Mesa conducted a search for restoration artists and ultimately selected Peggy’s daughter Becky Feltman, who is also a local artist, to help restore the mural to its former glory. Working from Peggy’s original drawings and with the help of local volunteers (many of whom actually knew Peggy) the mural has once again been brought back to life in loving tribute to Peggy and all those indigenous peoples and pioneers who have contributed to our CostaMazing history.
