Playa Conchal!
This beautiful white sand and seashell beach is one of the best places to go snorkeling in Costa Rica! The clear blue waters will send both snorkelers and scuba divers into an underwater world full of colorful, fun, and fantastic fishes, and other amazing aquatic creatures such as crabs, urchins and starfish. Best of all, it's free! No expensive boat tour required to snorkel at Conchal beach. Snorkeling is one of the best things you can do in Costa Rica, and since I brough my own gear, it was completely free. Some beach vendors do offer snorkel rentals. The incredible beach itself is gorgeous enough to enjoy without snorkeling or scuba. Enjoy!
Things to keep in mind:
-No nearby parking. The closest parking lot is at Brasilito Beach, where unofficial parking attendants charge $4-10 to park.
-Getting there requires a fairly long walk along Brasilito beach, about 10-12 minutes, under the hot Costa Rican sun.
-I didn’t see any restrooms.
-Independent vendors are around to sell you overpriced drinks and food. I paid $4 for a 600ml bottle of Coke. Bring your food and drink!
-I paid $20 to rent two chairs and a canopy...well worth it!
-Wealthy tourists can opt to stay at the Westin or W Hotel, both of which are right on the beach, saving you a long walk.
