Anhydrous butter is butter with water and the non-fat dairy solids are removed. Indians call it ghee, also known as clarified butter. Its a common preservation technique that can help butter last up to a year.
Can't be that good as to my knowledge, the very good ones which are "fresh" (also comes in packaged) expires within weeks. That's how I know I am getting the real deal! As those comes directly from the bakery (smells just like it came out of oven) and tastes delicious. And yes, mostly with real pineapple fillings. To my knowledge, to some degree the good ones especially packaging and sold in the store, it will have some winter mellon filling.I always look at the expiration date. If it expires within weeks, you know it's good, fresh , very soft and smells good and delicious. My sister shipped me the Chia Te brand, also purchased from Costco. It was delicious with an expiration date of a month.i highly recommend the Chia Te. Will try this one just to see if it's edible, lol. I am a fan of these 鳳梨酥 . Around the Chinese new year, I would asked my friend to ship me a box from the bake shop. These is one in Taiwan, very famous. The line starts early in the morning and long lines down the street just to buy their fresh pineapple cakes "鳳梨酥"。
Got it from Costco a month ago. Shared with friends, nobody liked it, too dry and crumbly. Disappointed. Cheaper ones tasted better and less expensive (a fraction price of this brand).
