Boeing’s twin-engine 787 ‘Dreamliner’ family has taken the widebody world by storm over the last decade. Having recently celebrated 10 years since its first delivery, more than 1,000 examples of this next-generation aircraft family have now been produced. These modern twinjets are spread across three variants, but could Boeing introduce another?

@@mmm0404 in a previous comment, you kept mentioning the A359.....The Landing gears on the A359 are more outwards towards the wings. The wheels also are spread further apart which distributes the loads evenly. It isn't about the A350 being being heavier and has 4 wheeled boogies. The A350s landing gears are heavier and can hold more weight because the Aircraft itself is bigger and heavier. The wheels of the 787 are now at its critical point. If Boeing wants to extend range/payload a new set of Landing gears will have to be designed for future variants.
@mmm0404
@mmm0404 2 года назад
@@mh12-47 who said the the landing gear on the 787 was at a critical point ? Where do you get this info bro The the 787-9 is close to 15 tons lighter than the a350-900 ,the 787-10 is close to 7 tons lighter despite carrying more payload than the 359. The 787ERs will seat at around 265 tons ( MTOW) compared to 283 tons permitted by the a350-900.. In other words the 787Hgw's will have carry 20 tons less weight than the a350-900 at maximum payload. So why the need for a new landing gear? Some expert analysis based on confirmations from Boeing stated that a 265 ton 787-10 would have the similar surface loading as the 777-9/ 300ER. Landing gear specifications are mostly limited by Surface loading, there is no such thing as critical point . As long as the maximum surface loading of a particular runnway is not exceeded the landing gear is good to go and therefore there no need for a new one ... According to calculations from some some experts familiar with the matter the existing Landing gear will be adequate and there will be no need for a new one. If experts say there is no need for a new landing gear and then a random person on RU-vid says it does. Who should I believe?🤣🤣🤣

My vote is to go shorter, a 787-7?? The 737-10 is a dinosaur design, and twin isles is much more pax appealing on both short and long haul.

Seeing how the 787-9 is the most popular version, maybe a 787-9ER will work. Trends in the narrow body points to long range, low capacity. This could also be the case for the wide bodies as well - longer range to connect thinner ultra long range routes. The A340-500 may prove this theory wrong, but maybe the -500 was ahead of its time...

The 787-9 is already long legged. I don’t see any reason to further enhance the range of the 787-9. A 787-9ER would be less efficient due to added weight

I think the concept of 787ER (-9 and -10) or 787-10LR is not a bad idea to be offered to other airlines which neither afford to order the 777X nor need the huge capacities the 777X offered.

787-10 is almost at maximum pavement loading, so any increase of gross weight, such as extra fuel capacity or a further stretch, will require new landing gear design. 787-10 has not sold as well as 787-9, indicating airlines see fewer markets that can fill the extra seats. Few if any airline would buy a 787 smaller than the -8-it would carry 30% more passengers than an A321, but has double the empty structural weight.

The a350 has a similar capacity as the 787-10 yet the a350-900 has sold close to 900 jets. The 787-10 ist popular because of its shorter range . An -10ER could be worth it . Look how the 777-300ER outsold the 777-300 a couple times over .

The B787-10 'extended range' makes alot of sense but Boeing needs to some thing in the 150-260 seat single aisle market to replace the B737 and B757, The B787-8 was suppose to replace the B767-300/400. Air New Zealand's new B787-10's will be have an extra fuel tank to extend their range.

@Hydraulic-em6uz

It all depends on the availability of funds Boeing has at its disposal. Boeing as yet to publicise on a viable competitor to the A321-XLR, the ongoing 787 manufacturing problems in SC, and the 777x have so far lost orders due to ongoing pushback fueling anger with Emirates (the largest customer of the type). Not to mention the recent recovery of the Max fiasco. That said, more than the 787, I would think a 797 could be more lucrative route due to the high demand in in single isle - extra range flight more than an expensive short 787 version.
@sergiolaurencio7534
@sergiolaurencio7534 2 года назад
the 777x is coming next year and the 787, well least hope they resolve the problem, but a 787-3 or a 797 should be the 2 thinking on my opinion.

I think Boeing could do both a further stretch with increased range and also 2 smaller variants too. A 787-11(Aka the Super 11 or ER) and also a 787-2 and 787-3 which would directly replace the 757 series.
@mmm0404
@mmm0404 2 года назад
Shrinked aircrafts have never really been popular with airlines. Might still be overweight or too heavy to replace the 757 .. Boeing will build the 797 eventually don't worry. We are only going to get a stretch , when the 787 gets re engined , maybe with the ULTRAFAN. That's when Boeing can stretch all varients of the 787 . The 787-10X stretch could have almost the same seating capacity as the 777-300ER

I believe the 787-10ER will sell very well! Would love to see a shorter fuselage version, will die in less than 10 years. Just like the B767-200 and A380. Too risky, too expensive. Knowing how Boeing works, they might bring a newer version of the B737.
@theplanespotter2849

This would be a great concept however the 787 is Boeings version of the A330, making it too much of a push. Especially with range in the factor too. Since the A350-1000 is of similar length to and range to the 777-9 it would make more sense to even just extend the range on that. Also shrinking the 787 again is cool but shortens both capacity and range making it too expensive for what it is. Plus it will be easier to fill say 2 737 max 8s that are more frequent. Both ideas are really cool but the logistics around it aren’t exactly gonna do well

If one of the triple sevens fills that Niche Boeing does not need to spend money developing another Dreamliner Boeing can figure out what kind of plane they need to develop although they should have been on the 79-73 years ago and it would be flying by now probably. The only thing I would suggest to Boeing is they need to get the triple 7X certified to carry passengers believe it's well over a year behind schedule now. It's pathetic. They developed and produced the 747 in approximately 29 months. I realize they've had trouble with the big engine but it's been well over three years. Is this any way to run an airline paraphrasing is this any way to run an aviation company. I know covid has wreaked havoc on the aviation Market and the 737 Max debacle has hurt Boeing but that was their own fault. Airbus has had to work in the same conditions is Boeing and Airbus seems to be thriving. Get it together Boeing.

Hmmm a new aircraft? Well to make a new aircraft there has to be a survey done and a potential market... do a survey then come back to ask that question... boeing has the 777 & variants 787&variants 737 and variants shelved the 747 ... but never made a new 757 version or a new trijet... but I'd have a survey done first as airbus has flooded the markets with stiff competition... maybe a supersonic hypersonic or an amphibious or a 757 variant but as I say survey first
