I’m not going to beat around the bush - Boeing is in trouble. After nearly a decade of sustained growth, the company is suddenly facing a crisis on multiple fronts. And it raises a sobering question: Is Boeing - who was just recently the crown jewel of the US economy - about to go bankrupt? Let me explain.

the plane is unable to fly to the edge of its wings envelope because the instability of the non-lift producing nacelles being extended way the hell out there. The only thing to do is PRECENT the airplane from flying slow and at high AOA........OR add powered lift to the horizontal stabilizer via an internally blown elevator.Which won't happen on the Max

I'm from Spain, but I moved to Germany in January in order to commence my my training to become cabin crew. I finished my training towards the end of February and started flying in March. You have no idea how much I love my job, I really do enjoy every single minute of it. It's specially rewarding after all the places where I've worked previously, trust me when I say I've worked my ass off to get where I am. But now I am in quarantine, after leaving my country, family and friends behind, hoping for this to end ASAP so I can start flying again and recover some of the hard earned money that I have spent already. And hoping that this crisis doesn't worsen enough for me and my colleagues to end up losing our jobs as I have seen to happen in so many other companies.

Boeing civil aviation is taking a financial beating right now. Their military and NASA contracts are very lucrative, so Boeing will be fine in the long term.
@1chish
@1chish 4 года назад
What military contracts? * The KC-46 is a boondoggle mess, $ Bns over budget, not achieved IOC and years late. * The F-15 production line is basically ended with the USAF only possibly ordering 8 x F-15X types this year. It last bought an F-15 ten years ago and F-35 Senators will have something to say. * The F-18 / EA-18 line has basically run out of orders as the Navy is restoring stored aircraft from Davis Monahan. * The C-17 production line closed years ago And the civilian side? * 737MAX is a financial disaster and was the cash cow that fed Boeing shareholders * 787 loses $20 million on every aircraft sold (to recoup R & D costs) * 777X is 2 years late and has issues with both GE engines and rear fuselage * 747 production is winding down to a close this year. Even the new 'Air Force One' aircraft are stored ex Russian purchases.
@ChrisBarrow-617
@ChrisBarrow-617 4 года назад
@1chish and don't forget that the KC-46 is on a fixed priced contract, therefore Boeing will not recoop any of the costs on that programme.
@1chish
@1chish 4 года назад
@@ChrisBarrow-617 Well its over $3 Bn and counting that just sinks Boeing even further. Just like the huge overruns on the 787 are losing Boeing $ Mns on every sale. The Air Force agreed to accept aircraft but withholds 20% of the price as they (put simply) do not work as ordered. Thus adding to Boeing's cash problems. I guess some USAF big chiefs and Senators needed a photo opportunity. However reality was defined by Chief of Staff Gen. David Goldfein over just one of the faults - the Remote Visual System that currently that has a dangerous blind spot when monitoring the boom during refueling: “We are targeting the ’23/’24 timeframe to have a fix in place,” People on the Senate Armed Service Committee like Sen. Jeanne Shaheen were less than impressed: “That’s significant - three or four years until we get to capability!” The real tragedy is that the USAF were not allowed by the politicians to order the A330 MRTT they actually wanted and which is more capable than the KC-46.

I feel like once the max gets back in the air again, it will have a very strong safety and reliability record for the future decades because while troubleshooting the mcas problems, they discovered a load of other problems that wouldn't have been identified if it weren't for the mcas. Excellent and clear explanation, thank you. Now, in September 2020, an update would be valuable. Also, it would be valuable to discuss the competitive status of each Boeing product line with the Airbus competing line. Your financial assessment overall was good, but a product line competitve comparison would take this further. I suggest that two other issues will make a difference: If the US government bails out Boeing, the EU will be very pressed to provide equivalent support to Airbus, or to impose trade sanctions. And over the long term, say in 1 to 5 decades, global climate change may shift the whole commercial airline industry from growing to stable or even shrinking as the global ecology challenges the global economy and reducing our carbon footprint moves even further beyond essential than it already is.

So I don’t blame Boeing for going after bombardier, I would have, bombardier was being shady as hell when selling their C-Series. Simply put, Boeing put a huge tarif on Bombardier stuff, because of Shady business being done by Bombardier, and the anti-Boeing gang threw a hissy fit over the tarif

I used to work for Everett Boeing and about as high up as I could go under my grade level. I stepped down as lead complaining about management not doing their part in backing my decision which lead to my 2nd level manager getting fired after putting in 41 yrs. She retaliated on me and got the whole company to seek her revenge on me. I couldn't use the rest room management stood and watched my every move. And after 1.5 yrs they finally got me out but I was on FMLA and doctors permission so I was wrongfully terminated in the help from the union who received income from boeing so you have a lie of being union and the money deduction union fees just go back to the company. I was shit on by 32,000 workers over the fact that a bitch got fired not for my actions but she costed boeing 34 million dollars. Looking for a lawsuits against both Boeing and union. Honestly, I think it's time to find a replacement for B737, which is based a lot on B707 design... I mean, it was a good strategy until some point but right now, Boeing should definitely think about another narrow-body plane, which could take over the B737. Personally I think they could redesign the B757 into something shorter and more modern and there they go, but it's only my opinion. Idk how expensive it could be or even if it would be possible but seeing that they were able to adapt the B707 desing to 2 other planes (B727 and B737), they would be able to do such a thing. :) The time will show... :) When it comes to me, I'm struggling to get to the airport again, but hopefully they'd need me! :D :) I'd love to welcome passengers on board of the planes again! Love my job and that won't change

Right. The former CEO deliberately sabotaged the success of the 737 Max and the reputation of Boeing only to rush the 737 Max out the door and in the air in response to the Airbus' new (at the time) A320 Neo. Boeing went downhill when they merged with Mcdonell Douglas. Probably one of the worst mergers of all time.

Yes! It should totally go belly up! There s/b 3 separate firms come out of this. A) the military arm. B) a commercial planes part w/o 737 max. C) the 737 max s/b reengineered - rip the wings off, put on new wings where the engines are 'correct' for the new wings. Mang'mt s/b in Seattle w/ 1) 40% of board from Union workers, 2) 40% of board from engineering, 3) 20% of board from front office. After 737Max is good it would rolled back into the commercial planes part.

In December I got a call that I was accepted into a major airline it was the happiest moment in my life. Between Jan-Mar, I trained to fly the A320 and got based in NY. In Mar I moved to NY and by then I had used up my savings account these 3 months to make it this far. I flew the A320 and A321 for about a week. Then everything shut down due to the virus at my airline when I was 38min away from completing the 25hrs I needed to finish my training. I decided to fly home to Charlotte instead of being in NYC for this pandemic. Now I'm laying on the floor of my room on Day 8 of quarantine thinking about how my life was a waste. Thinking about the years it takes to go through an interview process at an airline and the fact I may have to go through that again. This sucks. At least I have the memories of the best week in my life. The week my dream finally came true.
