They of course seem far off now, but if your ambition is to get back into top 4, you wouldn't sell to a rival when you can send Kane abroad instead. You're treating them like West Ham, when in 2-3 seasons if Spurs make all the right moves, could be back in top 4.

Di Maria between 30 and 35 played in PSG and Juventus. Ibrahimovic at 30 went to PSG, at 35 to Man United, then after one season in LA, still managed to go to AC Milan and retire at 41.

After one okay/good season? I think if you see things objectively and not from a hype/shiny new toy perspective, half of Hojlund's hype is him being Scandanavian like Haaland is. He scored 9 league goals last season and you're going to take him over a world class striker that would 100% get 25+ EPL goals per season for United for the next several seasons. It's a massive, unnecessary gamble when the finished product is there that can still play for 5+ seasons at the top level.

hes done nothing to show he's even close to Haaland's level. Half this hype is him also being Scandanavian as if every Scandi striker is now going to be as good as Haaland. Levy knows he can’t replace Kane; it’s as simple as that. By keeping Kane (previously) he could easily sell the spurs project to potential managers: Look at our training facilities, ‘You get to work with one of best strikers in the league’, look at our new stadium, we’re in a European competition… After all, how else do you think he got the likes of Mourinho and Conte to take the job!? By keeping Kane he knows he’s got a better chance of qualifying for the champions league and getting champions league revenue, (or another European competition) and maybe challenging for a trophy. Also, Kane didn’t cost them anything. So even if he leaves on a free, they haven’t made a loss on him. Levy isn’t letting him go. Maybe in January once 19+ games have been played but not in this window.
