Man Utd manager Erik Ten Hag is the favourite to be sacked by Christmas. Mark Goldbridge says he hopes it doesn't happen. Do you agree? Get the latest football news on That's Football. B
I'm a liverpool fan but putting that aside, I think ETH is facing the sack for several reasons: - Still no obvious style of play - Number of Losses way to high - Has had significant investment over the last few years - Been beaten badly by your biggest rivals - Makes suspect selection choices (Rashford playing 90 minutes) - Makes suspect substitutions even the fans dont understand - Defends himself to the point of arrogance in post match interviews. - Finished bottom of the Champs league table. Is living on 2 cup wins
There is a style of play. That's just a dumb comment. If you think there's no style of play that means every single game they do something completely different to previous games. Just because it's not tiki taka football doesn't mean there's no style of play. It's just not working, that's the problem.
He didn’t spend the 600m it was the incompetent structure who overpaid by tens of millions on players but I do agree that the style of play needs to come out and his favouritism is annoying
This has been the DNA since the Ollie days. You leave one person to handle the entire midfield, there is a huge gap and no connect. Contrast that with City, Liverpool, and Arsenal- all have better midfield structures.
@@digitalaccessibilityacademy you have made a good point, I just don’t think grouping them with Southampton (no disrespect) is sensible. The current Manchester United blow warm (not hot!) and cold.
@@digitalaccessibilityacademy I would like to believe that my brother, but after what I saw against brighton and liverpool im not sure anymore. The fulham game gave me a glimmer of hope that has since waned.
20k fans walking out of old trafford at min 60 and the boos for subs and manger as he walks off the pitch I was there, there's no recovering from that.
Mark has been so deep into Ten Hag in he will never admit he needs to go to look like a hypocrite. So he sneaks in headlines like this to start a movement against him.
Ever wondered why Mark is always so positive about Ten Hag? It’s cos Erik’s agency (SEG) get Mark to spin positive PR in exchange for exclusive news & interviews.
@@PredatorFUTClips Nah he knows ETH sucks but he is tired of seeing Man United sacking a manager every 2years.. so he is just backing an Average manager in hopes that he will rebuild like Klopp which won't happen because ETH sucks.
how much has Chelsea spent for 3 seasons without anything? whenever is man united you all invite unnecessary pressure, just 3 games and we haven’t even played badly and this speculations wow , well you all can bring in your Dad and let him win the league
He knows that ETH is the best manager United can attract at this point. Mark my words, the next manager will be worse. Meaning the next manager will not finish better than 8th.
He's like Southgate in a way. No clear style of play, no tactics, no idea. Instead, just throws a bunch of players on the pitch in the hope they'll do something
@@thor4164 he expects the dm to beat 3 defenders and get the ball upfield, where he put 6 players and told them not to help out in midfield, what a clever idea
Ten hag has even said he doesnt coach the players and allows players to play in the moment and on the whim..aka freestyle football..that's why we see united turn up some games and score good goals and then next few games lose and can't score..because no system or repetitive creative plays...I have ears and eyes I can see this...shame alot fans still think a certain player coming back or coming in changes how we play lol..
That will ruin Marks Christmas but he'll eventually realise that Ten Hag is not upto the job. Is that the Crystal Palace who thrashed United 4.0 last season?
No style of play after 3 years, spent 600m+ on 20+ players and has a -3 goal difference overall. At this point if you are cheering for him to stay, you're more of a Ten Hag fan than a Utd fan.
What do you see in his tactics that warrant keeping him? Constantly overrun in midfield due to how the team is set up despite personnel changes. Fullbacks pushing up too early leaving massive gaps when the ball is turned over. I feel sorry for Casemeiro and Mainoo. Awful transfer decisions - Anthony, Onana etc. Alientating and falling out with players. ETH out of his depth, embarrassing quotes in the media. Being shown up by other managers.
Oliver Glasner managed to completely transform a crystal palace team without any of his own players into a team winning 6 of the last 7. Ten Hag has had 3 years and £600 million of his own players and they suck
Jose was a far better manager..... had way less support..... and still delivered the europa league. Here is the real question -> what merit does Ten Hag have to keep this role?
I’m glad for what Ten Hag has done with two trophies but honestly he’s a cup manager more than a league manager at least in the PL. What gets me is the inability to play your best players who are in form. I thought he was supposed to be a modern coach but it seems like long ball counter attack stuff which isn’t what he is
People have to understand that sacking a manger is not as big of a deal now that we have a good structure. If the GLAZERS were still in charge I would be worried but with INEOS I’m really not bothered.
Ineos are glazsers their the only reason that Qatar aren’t here and we were sticking with has beens like Rashford and Bruno instead of buying players like Barella and Xavi Simmons that suit our style of play that ten Haag wants to play, Ugarte can’t break down tight defences with passes as soon as he wins it back he’ll have to win it back again Bruno can’t keep possession of the ball it’s not his style of play and Rashford I don’t even know what he is or why he’s near a premier league pitch
Ten Hag OUT. It’s year 3. There is no identity. There is nothing. Won 2 trophies by getting to the finals on accident and then parking the bus against City. I don’t want that.
No. My expectation when Ineos made the mistake of keeping him was that he would be at best a "bridging manager" until Ineos got the man they really want... ETH would get us back into the champions league then we'd get a manger to take us to competing for titles. But even that looks beyond him.
You can't do that on the right either. All I see is those players running into walls constantly or being out muscled. Garnacho was non existent against Liverpool There's no quality on either side as both wingers more times than not want to come inside and shoot Anthony is the worst offender with little contributions
@@ZeonEons garnacho scored in the community field while trashford was missing sitters , garnacho crossed to zirkzee against Fulham that led to the winner , garnacho made an impact against Brighton that would have been the winning goal the lad make things happen , his better of the left where trashford plays
@@ZeonEons garnacho is better player on the left and amad is a better player on the right , what's rashford best postion ???? Never put rashford and garnacho in the same sentence respect garnacho
@@jeffjudo4836 I get it but there's still very little quality on the wings. It's flashes but most of the game is running into walls. I'm not saying not to drop rashford but you have fallen into the trap that if we made this simple change we'd be doing all this and that. Well last season when rashford was dropped for four games utd were still awful and gave an unwanted historical victory to Bournemouth at old Trafford. 3-0 I do agree ten hag needs to drop rashford. He's clearly not enjoying the way utd are playing
Man City fan here, loving the Ten Bobb comedy show, don't worry Mark, he will be replaced by Gareth Southgate at Christmas, and the comedy show continues!!!
Goldbridge masterclass. Second session: We haven't spent enough and given him enough player. Third session: We invested so much on him. We can't sack him now.
I don't know what anyone else could do. The mid-field is ancient and there are no attackers. Not even strikers missing with Rasmus injured but even the wingers are lackluster recently.
hey Mark, 20k left after an hour of OT, ETH was booed when he switched and now only fans of other teams are calling for "back eth". Doesn't that give you something to think about?
The problem with Ten Hag is that he is Ten Hag. He honestly believes that two trophies makes his team second best in the country. He said it. His ego far out distances his talent.
United's recruitment is just unforgivable. They've backed Ten Hag to overpay massively on countless players who don't perform. 80M on Hojlund, 70M on Casemiro, and 100M on ANTONY. Think of the caliber of players they could've signed if they spent that 250M with an ounce of intelligence.
We knew what we were getting into when we waited weeks to sign players.. INEOS gambled with 3 games for saving few Millions & instead of taking equal credibility, lets put it all on the manager .. AGAIN !!
@@ChadLouisNewton yes, i know Yoro is for the future but we really should have for priority positions rather than going for what we would start after 3 years .. That Money could have easily got us Ugarte as that was the most impt position for the moment
@@anant0-0 The problem was that Ineos banked (quite literally) on Casemiro leaving and it backfired when none of the Saudi clubs wanted him, that's part of reason McTominay has gone to Napoli (he also wanted to go himself) to make up the difference.
@@ChadLouisNewton Ugarte stats are baffling me. He is worse than Casemiro when it comes to turnovers in possession (2nd highest in Ligue 1) xD. He is one of the worst players in that regard, so don't hope for massive improvement here. In UCL his stats are even worse... (he find himself in top 1% when it comes to turnovers).
When are we going to start saying the truth, man utd has spent 600 million on ETH players he want and we still try to blame we not looking like a coached side on the players. Unai emery came in the middle of the season and spent no money but villa looked like a well coached side .ETH rely on player ability, he can't coach
There's parallels to 2018-19 so far. Won the opening match by a single goal, lost the second by a single goal and lost the third match 3-0 at home to the side who finished 3rd the previous season. 👀
My question is who comes in and does better? "He's had 600m spent" - We've not had a decent midfield in 5+years (dont track back, and dont create for the forward player) -18 months of LB issues (Liverpool played right into this) There are some things like his player choice/subs that dont sit right with me, but lots of previous managers have done the same. Who's to say the next manager will do what you want? The problems will still be there, Ineos may be heading in the right direction, but it will take a while
A pretty good barometer of a manager’s capability and potential is how rival fans react to his name. As a Chelsea fan, i want Ten Hag to be given a new deal so United are less likely to pose a threat to our top 4 hopes. No style of play, player falling outs, disorganized team long may that continue with Ten Hag at the wheel :)
I am so fed up with this motion on sacking eth we need the ship to be stable and build on this instead of going through another rebuild and back to square one with players that another manager won’t use
no we want ten hag for many more years he is good for other premier league teams He needs minimum 5 more years common rival fans like this and make it viral we need ten hag for many more years
Mark I'm genuinely not going to banter etc but trust me ETH is not the top manager UTD need. Good achievement beating City in the fa cup final but City were likely knackered after partying after winning the Premier league. It became a one off. The league table doesn't lie. The shocking champions league group finish was unforgivable.
Wouldn't surprise me if we get a season without any sackings, only two I'd say might to would be Howe if Newcastle slips, and thats not because I think its the right decision but Newcastle are expecting progress, and maybe Cooper at Leicester when they hit the panic button.
You can lose games but what is more concerning is his press conference. If you have a Manager that does not acknowledge that there are massive issues to sort out and does not want to accept that he made mistakes too, than its easier to get the sack.
I think the problem with football today is that we can never get enough pf football related content, which means each and every match there will be content involved before and after the match. This is why we get peopel doing crazy predictions about the whole season based on one match. If this was not the case, nobody would be talking about sacking a manager fpr losing two games, especially when both teams he lost to are unbeaten in three.
I honestly feel like if United keep sacking managers United won’t learn 3 games in and people want him to go just got in Ugarte in and he won’t be able to use him
It's not three games in. It's three seasons on. Sacking managers is part of the success. I can't see how people can't grasp this. If Liverpool didn't sack the previous manager before klopp & before him they would never had a klopp
