Hey Shawn, I’ve got 3 Wagoneers myself but I’ve got an 85 that has some of the cleanest, rust free floors, rockers, and frame that I’ve seen. There is a small hole behind each rear wheel but a patch panel will take care of that easily. Original engine/tranny/paint but paint is faded and needs new woodgrain but is a beautiful, solid builder. If you or anyone else is interested, let me know. Come take a look next time your in NC, I’ll hold it for ya. It runs & drives and doesn’t have a squeak in it. Regardless tho brother, I’m glad to see someone out there showing the Wagoneer some love. I’ve had an idea for awhile on the Wagoneer that I’d love to see done and a SEMA Wagoneer with it would be incredible. Someone needs to take the backseat out and install two buckets that will match the front seats and do a full length custom console down the center with a kickass stereo. An interior like that on a bagged Wagoneer that will put the rockers on the asphalt with a Hemi swap under the hood would be the baddest truck/SUV at SEMA! Damn, I’d love to see that!! PS: the NPK nova needs to stay black Shawn! The car would look incredible in white but both the NPK car & the OG car need to stay black please. They are iconic cars to the racing world and need to keep their original look please. But it’s ultimately your decision and I’ll respect that no matter what color they are but just voicing my opinion! Take care and be safe out there guys! I’m proud of all of ya!!
Be badass to be able to spend a day hanging out with Shawn and the crew. Those guys are just down to earth as hell and can tell are genuinely good dudes!
My Grandfather had one that I remember from when he first bought it from the local Jeep dealership. My uncle used it once he had passed away until the plates expire. My nephew has it now. He restored it a few years ago and he put a LS3 with a 4l80e and transfer case.
My Dad used to get a newer Wagoneer every couple of years as his company car. The owner of his company would buy a brand new one for his chauffer to drive him to his mountain chalet and my Dad would get his old one. The first one that I remember was light green in color.
Hell yeah! I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t jealous but I also know how much work you guys have put in and still put in to do everything you do. Thanks for the content!
Back in 06 my buddy flipped a 1980's wagoneer on like 33's. New years day all hung over after partying. We made it probably 100 yards from his house. Hit the limerock roads fishtailing and ended up flipping it in the ditch. We were able to push it over and it immediately caught fire and burned the woods in a 1/4 acre lot. I'll never forget it. Every time I see a wagoneer I just remember pinballing in the back seat blowing out glass with my elbows.
This is what you gotta do so take notes everyone. Racing isn't gonna last forever and Shawn is showing everyone what he can do for his car building shop.
You figured out the rear license plate. It swings out so the plate is visible from the rear when the tailgate is down when hauling something in the back of the wagon. The predecessor to the Wagoneer, the Willys Wagons have a similar design.
I love y'alls project lot. I just wish I was y'alls age and do it over. I let my friends talk me into selling my 73 Nova so his mom had something reliable to drive. My project lot had 13 Novas and a 63 Ford Fairlane. I was rich and didn't know it. Love y'alls videos and thanks for taking us along.
Only watched a few videos but remember you from street outlaws, literally a legend. You know the grind. Some folks just have a rough day in an office and take out their aggression on people who actually work and grind for a living and it's easy when all they do is sit behind a phone or a computer and add on the pounds. Sweat equity into a project pays off in the end and it's healthy on the body. Damn, I made this post full of positivity. Wayward on the awesome posts ahead, I have subscribed and look forward to what's to come
U don't see them wagoneers very often anymore. My dad got one for my mom when we were kids. It was white with the wood panel down the middle. Same big giant winch. Talk about a time capsule. I'd like to have one myself. Them things r tanks. But in my neck of the woods in the cascades it would have to be lifted. Either way I'm looking forward to this build. 👌💪🇺🇸
Shawn, I have a good set of hood hinges for that Wagoneer if you need to put another set on so you don’t bend the hood. There are good grills out there if you want to replace that one some day. I’ve got one in the shop but it’s for a latter model. Most parts were the same from 63 till 91 but the grills, lights, tail lights, side moldings, dash did change about every 5 years but all body panels, glass, etc are the same from 63 to 91. I’ve got a Jeep salvage yard close to me that has 30-40 older Wagoneer’s like this one if you need something specific. Chances are I can get it for ya from that yard
5:35 Sometimes when a vehicle has been sitting for a few days and it starts making a weird smell when it gets hot, there’s a good chance a critter has moved into the engine compartment and built a piss nest or a food pantry somewhere that’s getting hot from the engine. Or a critter moved in there to die and that’s what you smell. The worst is when some animal is sleeping around the accessory drive of the engine and when you start it up they get caught in the fan belt, that’s a horrible way to go
Doesn't matter if you already own something, especially a classic or antique car.. we never stop looking. I've owned the cars i've always wanted and never stop looking for another one. Whether it's a roller, parts car, complete car.. whatever.. can always do something with it. I feel like if it's a Chevelle, Camaro, Nova.. I'd like to buy everyone that's for sale out there. You've got more than enough room now to store all the vehicles, buy them all!
Shawn unique mind set, unlike anyone I have ever know, in my book your visionary is definitely innovative, Danny knowledge of anything mechanical is definitely unique as well. You inspire all who watch. Keep up the amazing work and filming.
Damn. Shawn’s got All the room To haul shit home now! Lol Glad to see Shawn and his family Getting into some space to grow. Place looks pretty damn cool. Growing up in the country and living (somewhat) in the country now, it’s damn sure harder and more frustrating to run down to Oreillys to grab a part. My drive is 45 min to an hour round trip. One down fall of not being in town
I've had eight wagoneers my first one was 1968 I'm telling you I was a firm believer that Jeep got a discount on all the sheet metal cuz it was pre-rested front window that roof rack these are all places that they rest
For your winch on the trailer, you need a snatch block and short chain to tie off to the rear of the trailer. It will keep your cable straight on the roller and pull further back so you don't have to pull up like that. If it doesn't pull the trailer a bit sideways. Self alignment I guess.
I said this the other day even people that say or wear built not bought you guys do alot in house and I consider you guys built not bought even people have to buy accessories that they didn't build they just installed it all your guys shit you do comes out nice and I give you guys props 187 customs shop makes 1 off badass cars
Phantom, Shawn, look at Cleeter's new Ford with a built TSP Coyote on a stock ecu with twins. 3psi on the break just rosts all 4 tires. The turbo 5.0's are just so much more responsive to boost than anything else.
I got a 90 454ss iv had since high school several years back I put cam heads and small blower on it a damn blast to drive hopefully you can find you one to add to the collection
Perfect timing... I know y'all are really busy with both of you moving, and setting up the new spots.. but man, we all need more 187 in our lives lol. Happy New year.. (never understood celebrating the calenders birthday)
Shag carpet, the back in the day version of lizard skin or dyna mat! It's not mine but I'd love to see it restored to original since the body and interior look fairly good or make it a modern day Wagoneer or Escalde type vehicle. Great find though!
I just want to see as much of ya’ll per rid! Ya’ll too cool fir school man and thoroughly enjoy every video just as much if not more than the show. Can’t wait for next one and could watch ya’ll everyday 100% 73’s Ryan 201 Louisiana
SHAWN!!!!!!!!! That GMC Denali is my dream truck! What do I have to do to own that! I have a 2003 Cadillac Escalade but that is the wife's vehicle and my 98 GMC Z71 is too far gone to get back on the road! I need something to haul my enclosed Carpenters work trailer!
I watched a old hunter safety course video in school back in the early '80s on VHS, a dude was parked on the side of the road to shoot a deer in a 72 Wagoneer and he got out to get a shotgun out the back and it was cranking the window down and it was squeaking and he was trying to be quiet to keep from spooking the deer so we stopped cranking the window down because it was making so much noise he reached an a grabbed his gun and started pulling it out and shot the windshield out those were the good old days when you had the gun rack in the back side glass of those wagoneers
The license plate folds out so you could drive with the tailgate down and with the plate folded out it was still legally visible to vehicles behind you.
I remember when u would see these jeeps on the road and back then I thought they were ugly. Know that I'm older I think their pretty cool rigs. Funny how time changes the opinion on stuff like this. Great video, Happy New Year . Thanks Guys
Love the video of you guys shootin the shit... great content. Hey Phantom, we need some coverage of the boys busting their asses moving all the shit from old shop, should be good entertainment. LOL
just I thought I could drive anything with a stick until I got put behind a 53 Chevy with a three and a tree and man that was weird I mean by this time I drove 18 speed big rigs but that damn Chevy with the three and a tree was a wild ride
I would much rather have that Denali lol! Hell Yeah! I learned how to drive on a 74 Ford 3 on the tree. Hated it then, but I would love to have that old truck back!
Did they start galvanising the bodies in the 80s? My Aussie assembled 81 is still mint with gal body and factory rustproofing, most early imports are bad for rust, I will follow that build when you get to it!
My first squarebodys was a 76 Chevy Blazer I'm just curious since you've done a lot of research I think I had the weirdest one that I know of because it was a 350 4-barrel four-wheel drive with three on the tree When I closed my first shop in 93 I had eight 73-87 Chevrolet trucks and Blazers on the lot. That is one vehicle I could put together in my sleep without a book .I'm not far from the freedom Factory here in Florida but let me tell you what those trucks rusted here too. One of my favorite you wouldn't believe is 74 I picked up rust-free 6 cylinder 8 ft bed No-Frills man power steering Manpower Brakes and O 60 air .But Ford had to ruin it for me because I bought a 2012 Super Duty two-door dually with a 6.7 turbo diesel and the rest is history. Thank you for doing what you do I've always wanted a race I was a member of the NHRA before I even had a DL way back when 12-second cars were really fast but I never sat at the tree .I live vicariously through you and I really appreciate it .
Got the hammer toe update! Thank you love the content. A restomod wagoneer sounds badass. Also was curious about the CJ5 in the background? Can't wait for the next video
It’s called Sharing the love community if some body does it better have money have some body fix it better so what helping that person out. Guys have each other backs.
Hey guys there's a company online that's called Classic 2 Current that you can get all new rocker panels just about all sheet metal for Jeep Wagoners check them out have a few old Jeeps myself and there my go to company for sheet metal.
Man I would LOVE to see the NPK car in white. I know your history with the black car but a white race car is beautiful. I let the guy who painted my car talk me out of white and I’ve wanted to go back ever since.
