Good news, there is updates to this one. He won the case against the ex gf and police tracked down the car in the scrapyard and got it back to him. The wreckers who took it got arrested for unlicensed and shady business as well as attempting to obstruct the investigation because they tried to hide the vehicle from police (ex gf tipped them off that police were coming). With the dad putting the lock on his daughters door, immediate and powerful NTA. Not only is the twins' dad hypocritically calling OP an enabler when he himself is making excuses for his daughters stealing from Zoey, but it is NOT his house, his daughters are thieves, he obviously doesn't understand the concept of borrowing vs stealing considering borrowing requires the PERMISSION of the person who owns the object, and it's suspicious that he's calling her make-up "adult make-up" and referring to it as a "defect". Dude is sounding like a predator. L mother too, she obviously loves her nieces more than her own daughter; only herself to blame when Zoey stops speaking to her altogether. The funniest part of the story with the surgery for the brother in-law and the inheritance is the sister's argument that 'peoples health is more important than education.' I mean, the OP is literally using the inheritance to study to become a doctor. No baby born almost 4 months early would ever weigh 9lbs! With the first one, I would've waited until the dad responded to see how he answers. Would he lie? Would he stutter? Would he refer to the son to ask him to answer? It felt like his son was saving him from the question. I would've just waited to see what the response is and stared while he either flat out lied or stuttered and stumbled to respond... maybe he would've pivoted? I just had my second child, and I mentioned in passing to my mom that my daughter doesn't care for formula (she's predominately breastfed, but my husband was trying to formula-feed her so I could nap). My mother replied, "Good, formula is just a scam made up by Nestlé." During my first pregnancy, we had to formula-feed because I had no supply of milk due to stress (it was the start of Covid, among other things), so I reminded her that the only reason she had a Grandson was because of formula. Follow by pointing out that "fed is best," and she should check herself before making shity comments like that because I'm not the only person in her life that has had to use formula to feed their child.

As someone who fed formula to a calf... I agree. It's a scam made up by big diary to convince farmers to stop wasting cows milk on the calves. Also, Nestle is a pretty crappy company... sold formula in Africa (through doctors [$$$] there) which forced mothers to use it for over a month... causing the infants get sick due to poor water quality... at which point the mothers had stopped producing milk... trapping the mothers on the Nestle formula... and having the mother watch their infants die from the bacteria in the milk.
@Nevertoleave
@Nevertoleave 9 месяцев назад
Oh boy. Fed is definitely best. My first was mostly breastfed, she ate more than I could produce so we used formula to top her off after a feeding. My second has Down syndrome and for the first month wasn’t strong enough to draw milk at all. We had to use a syringe and I never developed enough of a supply to fully feed him breast milk. I use to sleep only three hours a day because I spent an hour trying to get him to nurse, an hour feeding him just ounces of formula and trying to keep him awake for it, and an hour pumping. He wouldn’t wake up and the alarms couldn’t wake me either so I couldn’t even trust myself to sleep a spare hour at night. While caring for a toddler during the day. He lost a lot of a weight before anyone realized he needed to have a syringe to eat and needed a high calorie diet for like ten months before he was finally at a good enough weight for his age the dietitian felt it was safe to take him off it. He’s over a year old now and only recently had been strong enough to stay sitting up without being supported. People with Down syndrome don’t have a good immune system so he was sick about half his life until he was about ten months old, just colds and stuff but it was still heart breaking. I am unbelievably thankful for formula. He never would have survived without it

Fed is definitely best. I do think breastfeeding is ideal when possible. But it's not Holy. It's fine to supplement with formula. A note on the Nestlé thing, though: I had a teacher from Latin America who told us Nestlé would give formula to new mothers that was just enough to last them until their breastmilk dried up. Then they would have to keep buying formula to feed their babies. This caused a lot of economic hardship for these women who were usually very poor. So that's probably where the "Nestlé scam" idea comes from. Although it clearly doesn't apply to your context.

As a car guy that Impala story was painful to listen to. Project cars are a massive money and time sink and the fact your girlfriend sent it to the crusher is insane to me. The sheer amount of disrespect for OP and his Impala Saloon is baffling and I sincerely hope he wins his case and then some. Also that whole bs about "oh it's just some stupid ol' hooptie you'll be fine without it" is so sad to me. To not only end a car's story over something so trivial, but to be so nonchalant about knowing full well how much time and money went into that car is saddening. They don't make 60's Impalas anymore. It's not like OP can just find a new one super easily; it's not like he was working on a Camry. Also if he could somehow finagle a way to receive ownership of her car would be amazing. Some people think it's funny to say shit like "what's for dinner tonight bitch" and some people do not. My wife and I are fine with that and call each other bitches and cunts and whores all the time (which is funny because we're each other's first everything). But many of my friends have terrible associations with that word and I would never ever say that to them, even as a joke. I was friends with my wife and dated her for years before we started calling each other the names we do now, and *after* asking if that's ok (nothing big! Just "hey I call some friends bitch, is that ok with you?" "Yeah, bitch" "ok bitch"). He's absolutely the asshole for doubling down about it being a joke and not apologizing as soon as he realized he hurt her

I'm 22, a guy, was living with my dad (parents split when I was young), and have 2 sisters and a half sister. I'm the youngest in the family, and was the black sheep due to being the only boy, and being left out on a lot of events (sisters were 2+ years older than me.) Family poor, parents had no credit, none of us had the means for college monetarily. In high school, I completed Freshman year no problem, from a good school, in a good neighborhood (we were the broke family, living in the nice area.) My dad worked out of state, my mom and stepdad went homeless, and my dad gave them a place to stay for free. Before this, it was just my and my sisters living in the house, and my dad would come home on weekends. THEN, it was my mom and stepdad, and my sisters and I living in my dad's house, and he'd come home on weekends. I was disenrolled at the end of Freshman year, and put into a mental behavior place for my disobedience and defiance (I had a problem taking orders from my abusive stepdad, and the way he treated my mom. He was a felon, was in and out of jail, and treated everyone poorly. My mom lied to these people to get me in there. You can imagine the shock when I walked in and they asked me if I wanted to hurt anyone or myself.) After a phone call with my sister, she told me what my mom had said to these people (that I had chased someone with a knife.) This angered me and I hung up, told the staff to not let my mom visit or call, and I punched a concrete wall in frustration. In hindsight, this made it harder for me to leave, as I did this in front of the entire staff. My roommate during this time said he had held a knife to his babysitters throat, and would constantly tell me how he'd finish the job when he got out. My dad ended up pulling me out AMA (Against Medical Advice), and I went to live with my dad in another state, in a poorer area. He shut down the house, and my mom, stepdad, and sisters all got a place together. From Sophomore year to the end half of Junior year, I was not in school. I worked with my dad from 8am to 10pm every day. I told my dad I needed to go back and complete high school or get my GED. We moved into a state that offers credit recovery. I was 297lbs. This worked out for my dad better than where we were (monetarily). After this time, I was enrolled at my age group. I was 17, a 2nd semester Junior, had to make up ALL credits for Sophomore year, and ALL credits for 1st semester Junior, keep up with my current classes, and I also played football and ran track. I hung out with the wrong crowd, and we lived in a trailer park, in a small city. I ended up getting all the credits I needed, and later found out that I was enrolled in College Prep classes, instead of General level classes. This made it harder to pass, but I still did, and walked for graduation. I joined the military 2 weeks after graduating high school. Instead of saying my goodbyes for college and enjoying summer, I was doing pushups, situps, running, and getting yelled at. Running track helped me lose weight, and football helped me learn how to gain muscle. This is what got me into bootcamp. I'm since out, and using my GI Bill, 34% done with my bachelor's in an IT degree (started in September, 2 months before this post, with an accelerated degree plan; I actually get PAID ~$1,000/mo to attend), have a girlfriend, own a house, own a car, and have a stable full-time job, and am a Reservist. While I was Active Duty, I competed in Powerlifting, Strongman, and 5k running events to maintain weight and fitness, talked to every Officer on board about college, where they went, degrees, etc. and got set up with a mentor who was a Lieutenant at the time, and is now a VERY young Lieutenant Commander that graduated from Princeton. He helped and encouraged me to write college essays, apply for every college I can, and create a plan before I got out. 2 years into my contract, I took leave and flew to MO to visit my sister for Christmas. This is the ONLY time that my family puts aside their differences and everyone gets together and exchanges small gifts and plays board games, and drinks together. This is my favorite holiday for this reason. My dad asked me if I knew what "Mad Dog 20/20 was", and I said no. I eventually ended up with 2 bottles of Mad Dog taped to my hands, and upon finishing them, got the courage to bring my mom to another room and tell her how I felt about the behavioral institution, why I felt betrayed by her, and why I haven't called, texted, or asked about her since I joined the service. We cried in each others arms, and she apologized after 6 years. This helped me forgive her and mend our relationship. I originally lived in MO, then KY, then OK, then OH, before joining. I'm now back in MO, and still obviously keep in touch with family, as I'm close with 1 of my sisters, and both of my parents, but I hope this goes to show that you really don't need to have people pay for your tuition or support you monetarily on MOST things. It definitely helps, but it is still absolutely possible alone, with the right mindset, and brushing shoulders with the right people. As of today, my mom is a hair stylist and my dad does doordash. The sister I'm close with is in college for a degree in education, and the other sister dropped out of college (she was pursuing Psychology), and constantly asks the family for money. I currently make a stable living from my job, make a good chunk per month from college, and make some fun/spending money from the Reserves, with a VA claim on the way (tinnitus, shoulder tear, etc. payments for life after claim is settled.) Instead of being told that I was going to be kicked out of the house, and that I needed to find a job and move out, I'm now going to be giving those same people a place to crash for the holidays. (I was told how my dad talked to the rest of my family about me, and how he wanted to kick me out since I wasn't employed during high school. The extra classes and sports didn't make this feasible.) I'm not going to hold this against him, as I understand where he was coming from, but you can bet when he's 70 he won't be living in my 3bed 2bath. My biggest tip is to know your resources, make a plan and stick to it, and give important things your 110%. At the younger years of my life, I was struggling in school, obese at 13 years old, playing videogames 24/7, lived with a single dad, made friends with the wrong people (I was frequently hanging out in the trap house), and not close to any of my family. You can completely flip your cards around if you stay consistent, work towards bettering yourself, and putting the B.S. down. I've since gone on to achieve more than anyone I know personally. I've lead teams in response to fires/gas leak casualties, assembled and disassembled mines, flown in helicopters (as well as given hand signals to land and launch them to pilots), been a security force team leader (leading a team to search spaces, people, make reports/arrests, etc.), been out to sea countless times, dropped anchors, lived in San Diego, helped other units in Seattle, and more. Long story short, civilian life is a peace of cake compared to military life. You might be stressed out or tired sometimes throughout the week, but mainly your biggest worry is "Am I going to get to work on time", or "God, this guy is so annoying, I wish he'd stop knocking on my office door", versus "I'm running on an hour of sleep. I hope this container I'm controlling with a crane doesn't smash into my teammates and crush them to death." or "I hope this tugboat doesn't pull my body through this chock and mince me". I say THIS, because from my personal experience and tribulations, civilian life hasn't been nearly as stressful or testing. I wish I had this mindset BEFORE joining. Now, if I'm stressed out in civilian life, I just say to myself, "people are getting shot at right now." Somehow this works. I also take a step back and DEEPLY analyze family events and things that are said. The whole point of this post is to encourage people to really try their best to accomplish their goals, as I'm literally living proof of a 180 degree turn, and was NOT supposed to be where I am. I was destined for a heart attack and death at age 16, or poverty for life, considering I was 297lbs at 13 years old, and was hanging out with drug dealers at 16, and have completely turned my life around and will be more successful than anyone I personally know. Drown out the "noise" and get to it. Nothing else matters. I hope this gives anyone reading this encouragement. I hope you realize that even if you're stuck in a rut, or think you're destined for less than you really are, that you can still make it out and be happier, wealthier, and more successful than you think. If anyone has serious questions, or needs guidance or support, reply, and I'll give what I can.

That OP acting like their dad is NTA. The DID try different ways to convince him that his behavior is bad and they didn't work. Talking can only do so much. The story about the girl who installed a lock 🔒 on her door to stop her entitled cousin entering and abusing her cosmetics was deserving. Boundaries should be in place even in families. Then the one who threw out the baby formula was simply out of order. How dare she throw it out without permission and is unable to replace it. Then case of the 2 sisters who inherited money from their dad after his passing, the other sister was financially irresponsible overspending her money on unnecessary expensive goods knowing her husband wasn’t well. All of a sudden the sick husband needed surgery, she’s spent her inheritance while her sister saved hers. Now she wants to dig into her sisters money 💴 and calling her mean and wants to hold her responsible if he dies. I’m sorry it’s not her sisters fault she overspent. Instead of being entitled to someone else’s money 💴 she should be selling the material goods she bought. In many of these stories there is a lack of boundary setting and moral clarity.

@theflyingspaget
@theflyingspaget 9 месяцев назад
Eh, depends on how the kid said it. You can hear intent usually and I'm willing to take OP's word that it wasn't a warning about the cat but rather a "warning" for the cat. We can't know cause we're internet strangers, but I feel like the kid would have explained it wasn't even a joke before having to write a whole essay on it.
@Nox.x_ART
@Nox.x_ART 9 месяцев назад
@@theflyingspagetyeah. Since it’s a text post tone can’t be discerned without either tone indicators or a description of how someone said it. The only way we can assume how it was said is by other text surrounding it or how other people are described reacting to it. If the delivery guy was upset then that’s can give the impression that the som said it in a tone that indicates more of a racist approach to the joke than ‘the cat likes to get in the food’. And based off of the essays the son was made to write we can assume the son had at least some understanding of the ideas the essays were about, which doesn’t make the joke better at all and certainly not for the son claiming he did no wrongdoing. We can make inferences but can’t be for sure.
