They're able to find the money to help "asylum seekers/refugees" into places like this, but can't find the money to help our own homeless? Such a disgrace!!

In my findings the councils across the country have been preparing for this for years. My local council purchased their first house about 6 years ago, a small town house. Now they are buying mansions with walled gardens. Im also wondering how many of these house are been rented from estate agents?

Even if it were 27 homes in the text of the article , then that £333k per home There’s an empty Sainsburys superstore in stoke , you could place 50, 3 bed park home units in the car park for £40k per unit … value for money … There are 3 park homes for over 50s near me at £60k been on sale some time. There is a demolished power station with outline permission for 1,500 homes just had its planning application withdrawn because the infrastructure contributions were astronomical , not just the road but the onsite and offsite art, orchards , schools sports blah , blah blah.

If they mention £9 million, I can say without a shred of doubt that it will be upwards of £10 million, easily. Councils are experts in hiding true figures, as is the civil service in general.

I work for a local council as a street cleaner and can only afford a bed sit yet yet refugees can go into the council refugee centre get a credit note for 3 thousand pounds for furniture free phone free laptop free vouchers for food i think what is the point in me working

£9 mill for 5 flats, really, why not just buy new builds, would be cheaper and would probably get 18 apartments at say £450000 each? Then to balance book, why not demolish redundant office building and sell off land for development?

So this sort of money can be spent by councils on Migrants, who have not contributed to our tax system in the first place, and yet spending money on the indigenous population is problematic at best,! Our roads are in a mess, council properties needing repairs, street lighting either not working or switched of in phases to save energy/money, long waiting lists for council housing unless a young pregnant female or fresh out of prison, the list goes on!!

As council tax payers you do have a legal right to object. If you dont get out and say something then they will continue as planned. Im saving up and leaving uk, its in serious trouble..pension age will be 73 in no time at all🤷‍♂️

Some yrs ago went into my then local council office and asked about getting a council flat, I was told that I had no drug issues and had no kids at that time so a single bloke with no medical, mental, kids, gay, vulnerable or drug issues told me I had absolutely no chance of being considered for 1 bed flat.

Mainly because they’re built cheaply and get discounts for large material orders. So 180 homes for £9 million…….. and yet a building refurb for 5 flats is £9 million!!!!!! When i was homeless i asked Manchester City Council for advice i was told they could not assist me. But if i had just got off the banana boat i would have been given a Council House.

Our taxes paid for it, and will go on paying.

If I ever found myself without shelter, no food I would be inviting myself into the house and food of my councilor. They can put me in jail. I will get 3 Square meals a day and shelter.I don't care. I'm 78 and I come before any non citizen.

I’m 22 always wanted my own shot at life the way my family before did it now I’m struggling to see the point in myself working horrible jobs such as construction work in hopes of finally getting somewhere but the reality is I’m only earning money to survive not thrive and gain a home, car and living yet all I see around me is immigrants with everything handed to them all while they lift no finger for it and still get to do scummy shit like fraud and abusing benefits while people like me try and work to the bone in a hope to be somewhere in this crap nation I’ve been working since I was 16 yet it’s done nothing to help me out when it comes to having things set up in life because our government expect too much from us and so less from immigrants the only thing I can appreciate is that I’ve got off my ass and gained a few experiences in construction so if I put my money into courses I’d earn better money and a better position but to have to use that money for that while I’m struggling finding a place to live is near impossible when I have my home it would still be impossible to put my money into a course because of all the things I’d now have to pay for and maintain

You should look into the letting companies buying up houses and filling them with immigrants.... not just from afghanistan and ukraine either, I see it daily, an estate of new build houses in walsall and most of them are filled with Africans....

Blocks of flats are being built all round Cambridge, where 20% would be alloted to migrants. Guess how many of these many flats went to indigenous people, the 20% if lucky, most are full of non English speaking migrants!

With 9 million they could have built quite a lot of family homes for Brits to rent . Bring back the old council house system when they were available for decent families and you had to look after them or you were out. Later in life if you could afford to buy you did if not you stayed there then moved into a council bungalow later in life so your house was available for families. It worked well they never should have sold off the council houses we are still paying the price for that as they were never replaced.
