The late Roberto Bolano wrote "Third Reich", which involved the AH game and served as a means to both unite and divide the various characters. The novel is about the encounters between strangers over a period of weeks and, in portraying the protagonist as a wargame champion, is attentive to and quite accurate about the game 'Third Reich'.
Panzers Last Stand is easily my favorite wargame at the moment. Solo, oppoosed, scenarios, campaign, doesn't matter it's all spectacular. Might even buy a backup copy in case I wear this one out
I've chosen depth over breadth for the next year (Der Weltkrieg) because life has been too busy to learn more rules, sort counters, set up. My interest in other systems has not dissipated, I just need something on the table to play for when I have a spare moment. It's actually a huge relief to at least have this part of my life figured out. Excellent stream!
Great vid again, your knowledge of Games is tops. love Noble Knight although i live in OZ and shipping is massive but worth it. p.s. i adore Zulu wars & English civil war. keep up the good work.
You're probably making a good call not getting into the "wargames can't be realistic" debate. I would suggest "it's all hypothetical after the first move" falls in the same category. That is, it's not WRONG, but it's not particularly useful. We all know what we mean, in context, saying a game is realistic or hypothetical.
