Thank you for info, I lost lot of money for grading my counterfeit coins. For altered coin ,or too much dies Etc.. Couldn't this happen from mint ? Then why stated in the red book, 1943 steel penny bold die on RPM?

I have a 1914 D and the coin store man told me it was counterfeit because the top of the 4 is rounded . But he still wanted to give me a dollar for it. I kept it.

Brett Bowcutt sounds like he was trying to get over on you if you ask me... Just my opinion but if it's counterfeit why would someone still want it much less want to buy it haha ?!?!?!?!?... Not exactly sure on the federal laws but it's definitely a federal offense to make it and or alter it to try and sell it for a profit ... Not sure if it's illegal to just own it or not but I wouldn't want a counterfeit coin anywhere near me or have anything to do with it and seeing how the coin shop collects coins I'm sure that person is some what knowledgeable of this and if it was a counterfeit why would they want it enough to offer you 100 times it's face value knowing they couldn't get it graded and resold at auction ... 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔Haha I think you made a great decision to keep it ... You should take it to several not just one or two but get as many professional opinions as possible and do not mention that you were told it was a fake and see what they say .. just a suggestion but I would hate to hear of you losing a possibly very rare and valuable coin to a con artist ... I don't want to falsely accuse anyone either so maybe it wass fake and they still wanted it anyways who knows ... Just get several opinions before making a decision okay ... 👍

Whatch out whit the "new counterfeit" they are extremely well made. For exemple Iccs, ( a very respected third party grading company in canada ) have graded counterfeit coin ; one have the observe of Edward VII ten cents (1902-1910 ) whit the reserve of an 1912 10 cents ( george V ) . The coin looked perfectly legit but this mule is impossible.

Great information ..this just popped in my head just now so please just hear me okay. These are the mess ups used to detect counterfeit coins right ? Alot of the tell tale signs are the counterfeiters mistakes right? Well now your actually showing them their mistakes and how to make their counterfeit coins practically undetectable ... We all truly appreciate the time and energy invested in your videos and thank you for revealing the things to look for so we don't waste money getting fake coins graded or getting excited over a fake coin but truth be told I would rather lose $40 - $50 on occasion or get my feelings hurt over a fake coin vs giving the counterfeiters a shot at making a perfect fake coin.... I was just typing this as I was watching the last few minutes of your video and then you said there are alot of other ways to tell if the coins are fake and it's just my own personal opinion to maybe you should NOT reveal them ...like I said I think you and other people making these types of videos are trying to help but may actually be unintentionally helping counterfeiters perfect their fake coins ... In fact I would be willing to bet my last dollar at some point or another one of them have watched these videos looking for ways to make higher end and even more undetectable fake coins ... I wouldn't reveal all the ways to spot them because that may be the last thing standing between fake coins crashing the numismatic market ... I could be way off and completely wrong but I myself use to be a thief before dedicating my life to Christ which is what really lead me back to collecting coins again but anyhow I use to look for ways to perfect my crimes ... Criminals aren't always dumb and some are actually very brilliant people and pretty good at what they do and learn from their mistakes and not in a good way but learn to be worse criminals ... Thank God I learned my lesson after a 5 year prison sentence for stealing $28 worth of scrap metal .... Sorry for the long book but I just wanted to share some honest information and my thoughts on the whole counterfeit coins subject and would hate to see honest people get took over some theifs fake coins and then even be teaching the thief how to be better at what they're doing ... Well I hope everyone has a blessed day and just ask Jesus Christ and our Heavenly Father to forgive is of our sins and ask our Heavenly Father's will be done in our lives ... Im not God or Jesus and once again I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure God's will for us doesn't include being stolen from... Or Well at least I don't think so ... Okay guys thanks for reading my book haha and have a blessed day

Is there a way to tell if a coin has been stamped or made in a mold? I've seen a few on eBay now that just don't look right. (indian head cent) I've heard that in china they have people that reused old stamps from the mint. Some that I've seen look too new, like, just came off the press. Toning may off for what they say about the coins. Exampled, 2 coins that have different dates have the same new look. I love to collect Indian Head Cents I have to go for the lower priced ones because it's hard to tell if they're real or fake.

I don't understand the concept. many coins won prizes because their dates had spaces between them. others won awards for having or missing details in their manufacture. here they tell you that those details make a false coin. dates with false separate numbers? different fake letters? 🤔

OK now this throws out variety errors.. The mint marks were hand struck pre 1989 or 79. But the older coins as was mentioned by a psgs certified dealer mentions on one of these shows.. But always look out for different variations but it still throws out detecting errors and varieties.. Another reason why I don't trust someone else grading my collection.. ..im just saying... It's like they're the only ones that know.. Educate yourselves if your a true collector

I have a 1955 that the date is not doubled but it looks as if it had a worn out die, the liberty sits lower than most other pennies and the L has shifted to the left that it's not recognizable, the coin is sharp brilliant but the leaves on the back look like the die was just worn out,, you think someone would counterfeit a 1955 and not double the date?
@iccoins6705
@iccoins6705 7 лет назад
Big John It's unlikely someone would counterfeit a 1955 non-doubled, but it is possible. It would most likely cost far more to make the coin than what the counterfeiter could make off of it.
@bigjohn1154

Cox Coins one thing I also noticed on the penny is it looks as if it had a ,I call it, a die shift, when you flip the coin the back is spun around,,, could this be a type of double die without the date being doubled? Obvious the 55 was a bad year for this coin
@iccoins6705
@iccoins6705 7 лет назад
Big John Coins are sometimes not struck straight on and that's normal. I am unsure exactly what you mean without a picture, but if you want, you can always send it in for grading.

Big John Sounds like your describing a rotated die. If you place Lincoln where his profile is 90 degrees in between with your thumb and forefinger at 3 and 9 o'clock and spin the penny vertically so that the reverse shows the Lincoln Memorial should be perfectly oriented as well. If it isn't this is a rotated die error. It is measured by how many degrees it is off from what it should be.
