Love the tone of Keiths guitar; Fantastic. And oh my Gadd!!!! He doesn't need to do anything flashy just his signature apparently simple fills and makes everybodies jaw drop.
The best rock guitarist currently playing country music! I'm 55 & have seen them all, & I am convinced that had Keith hit the scene 35 or 40 years ago, he'd be a mainstream FM rock star. Now people with his sorts of talent seem only to find acceptance in Nashville. If the Eagles hit the bricks today sounding the way they did in 1972, they'd be pigeonholed as a country band, period. Country's gain is rock-n-roll's loss.
You say all that like Keith Urban isn't country. He is very country. He grew up singing country music. Being a country artist wasn't some kind of plan B for him. This is what he was born to do. Just like Elvis Presley and Fats Domino influenced Hank Williams Jr. Keith Urban was influenced by Mark Knoplefer and 70's/80' rock. But make no mistake he is country.
This vid made me go out and buy a Telecaster. That's inspiration. After seeing him Live at the James Brown Arena, we walked away having witnessed the real deal, a Rocker cloaked in a Country genre. Keith Urban is Legit.
wow, first time I ever heard anything by this "Keith Urban" and I am mighty impressed. I don't like contemporary country music but I'd enjoy a show by this guy. I have played guitar for many years and this guy is for real.
James Taylor by Keith Urban. Incredible performance, Keith, I believe you can do it all. Fantastic, you have it all! Mightier than I ever imagined. You pass the ears and head straight to the heart and soul of your mighty talents. Thanks for sharing.
in the 70's James Taylor was a fave of mine who I listened to all the time ... 40 years later Keith Urban has weaved his way into my music constant and never ceases to amaze me ...
When you have to pay homage to a Rock and Roll legend, do it Keith Style! I love this mans version and play it all the time. The respect that he showed on stage in this event shows how a true musician treats a legend! Well done Keith!
Wow, I'm not familiar with Keith Urban, but he can play some guitar, geez !!! And on his left side there is a guy/genius named Mike Landau who knows a lil' about guitar, and in the back, I think that it's Dean Parks, so well done Keith !!!
Yes it’s Dean. He was there to fill the guitar part in case of there being any singers not playing guitar. He also filled in when JT broke his finger in South America a few years ago.
WOW & DANG !!!!, sorry James - this is my new favorite version of your exquisite "Country Road"..................LordHaveMercy that man can make a Telecaster sing!!! If Keith was feeling poorly this night, I'd love to see him turn it plum loose when he's feelin' better...............again, WOW!!
Man can he play that guitar or what? I’m fairly new to Keith Urban’s music and I have to say I haven’t heard one single song that I don’t like? Thank you for sharing this amazing clip/ 🙏🏻🇬🇧
I keep revisiting this video, as I believe Keith did a cover that was at once respectful of JT's life's work, but in some respects he made it his own. That's the sign of a good cover in my view. However, what I find most engaging is Steve Gadd's drumming. He's been a favorite of mine for a long, long time, and watching him you can just see that loves his work. It's wonderful to see people who really enjoy their jobs. We should all be so fortunate!
🥀What an Awesome Job Guy's on this amazing tribute to James Taylor I love all of his song's🥀And who else better than Keith Urban to sing his song, Perfect thank you for sharing this video I love it🥀🤘🎸
Unfair to compare to James so I thought this was good listening. I had no idea Keith Urban was such an accomplished guitar player. He showed some chops!!!
You got that right Andre, nobody does bridges/breaks and the like quite like Steve -- very cool stuff. He's the backbone of the best touring band you're ever likely to see....................whatAband !!
Agree on the band. A great element in what makes going to see a James Taylor concert so great--that terrific band that's playing with all the artists at this tribute.
