Oh my god, the memories this car brings back!!! My younger brother and I riding in those way back rumble seats are some of the greatest childhood memories of all.
Lime Gold on Ivy Green - My folks had this exact 1969 Country Squire in this color with air conditioning. Bought new was 4500 in SoCal. Nice to see it this morning in my feed.
WoW! I don’t know how this found me but thanks for the review. I remember going to the dealership with my family when we picked up moms brand new 69 Country Squire! Ours was Champagne Gold metallic, otherwise identical. We loved it, taking many long road trips. The only problem I remember is that it rusted out after a three years, before the days of rustproofing. A sad side effect of driving in Michigan winters where they used too much salt… Ours was replaced by a Mercury Colony Park wagon. Thanks for this. Wish i had a place for it. Cheers!
What a sweet ride. I have a 69 country sedan bought from original owner a dentist who life close to work. 52K miles on a 429 with AC. Not garage kept. So the dash on your ride and the back interior panels are spectacular.
One time I was in desperate need of a car and one of those was for sale at a garage I knew. I just needed a battery for it. It was white with a red interior. All I needed to do was buff out the wood with armour all. Otherwise it was in excellent condition. I didn't think a station wagon was for me but as I drove that car it grew on me. It really was a classy dependable car. I traded it back for my old pickup truck and sorry I did that. That car ran a lot longer than my pickup. Very comfy to drive. 390 engine. That car was the best $200 I ever spent. Wish I had another one.
The Brady bunch should have had one of these but they got an old Plymouth or Dodge wagon to use Mike Brady made good money as an architect he could have Afforded One of these or a Colony Park or Town & Country or Custom Cruiser LOL
My family had three, I think a 61 that every summer we loaded with camping equipment and spent two months traveling in the West. Completely covered the drivers side back window with those decals you could buy at National Parks and other attractions and even started on the opposite side. After that it was a 65, I learned to drive in the 65 and took my first dates out in it. The last before going off to college was a 1970. After that was a disastrous early generation Toyota Landcruiser.
My favorite Long Roof !😎🇺🇸 Nice that they put the radio left of the driver ! That way your passenger isn’t screwing with it! Had a 2 Door coupe back in 78 !😎🇺🇸
Too me 69 & 70 the two best model years for LTDs I don’t know if they used the terminology of ergonomics in those days but 69 & 70 the finest dashboard instrument panel layout of any generations of the LTD model line up period that personalized driver cock pit just screams welcome to drivers this is all about YOU !!! then after 70 they went backwards what the heck went wrong ???
i spent lots of time in the back of a '68 Country Squire facing my brother and kicking his feet! The back opened like a door or swung down like a traditional tailgate. We went from a '64 Impala wagon to the '68 Ford to a '72 Plymouth Fury wagon. I did a lot of making out in that Plymouth!
Fan blade broke off and struck they bottom of the hood on mine! Probably what happened to the shroud! Common issue with Fords of this era ! Use caution when working under the hood with engine running! Throws the engine off balance, you know when it happens! Nice survivor!
We had this exact car in the same color until I was 5 years growing up in Maine. 2 adults, 3 kids and a St.Bernard. Dad decided it would be best to trade for a yellow 73 maverick 2 door during the gas crisis of the early 70s.
When we were kids in early '80s Colorado, my buddy's family down the block owned her sister, a '69 Marquis wagon in "fair" condition, to put it nicely. Funny thing is, they had a '79 Buick Estate that they used all the time, and I rarely saw the Marquis move. It just sat and sat with severe rust perforation on the rear quarters from the road salt. I have no idea when they finally got rid of that thing.
Ok we will try again late summer 1970 I went with my parents to look at new cars we got to test out a new 70 Country Squire it was a Red I liked it it was a Demo I was a excited kid I said Can we get a Purple one just like my new Sears bike everyone laughed we liked the car but my parents really liked the new 71 style so they order in dark green it was nice we were a fortunate family but I sure liked that Red one I believe it had to do with the front and dash board were like my Grand Mas New 69 LTD she just got year before man those were the days let me tell ya
@@garyblanchard1084 sales of wagons say otherwise. If people wanted them, they'd have bought them... once minivans and SUVs came out, the wagons were history. Don't shoot the messenger...
@@garyblanchard1084 ...and I'm sure the percentage of people buying wagons to drag race was so great it could have kept the wagon business going... gtfo lol
