only two things that make me personally not a fan of Apple products: 1. Cost usually 1.5-2x more than everything else 2. You literally HAVE to use iTunes for music, can't use anything else, at least before Spotify. When I tried to make a workout playlist for a buddy, I used Amazon Music instead of iTunes, so his phone wouldn't play the music I gave him. Basically have to go 100% Apple for streaming and downloading

Woz is a genuinely decent human being and top notch engineer; Apple would not exist without him. He's also the exception that proves the rule you are referring to... One thing I have to push back on is the false notion that making things in the US would cost substantially more. This is false. And it certainly wouldn’t come anywhere near “quadrupling” the cost of goods. Proof? Look up the hundred year old Jones Act that massively artificially increases the costs of goods for Hawaiian citizens. Also learn about the Commerce Clause, which the Jones Act violates. Global shipping is controlled almost exclusively by four shipping companies. What’s more is that not only would it cost very little extra to keep manufacturing in the US any increase in costs would be more than offset by the abundance of jobs created domestically. There are many good reasons why tariffs on imports are essential. Oh, and anyone familiar with Adam Smith’s Wealth of Nations will know that the US is not and has never been a free market. It’s always been a rigged market, precisely the kind Smith opposed in his works.

When Steve Jobs passed away everybody was shedding tears, and repeating like parrots exactly what Bill said: - He changed the planet, he changed humanity!! - Almost putting him at the same level as real geniuses like Tesla or Gauss. Now, a week after Mr Jobs departed, Dennis Ritchie passed away. Nobody said a word, and most people don't even know him. Turns out, Dennis Ritchie Invented the programing language C, and was a key developer of the UNIX operating system. In case you don't know, every friggin operating system kernel is written in C or in an evolution of C. That means, Windows, Linux, Unix, and Apple OS. On top of that, Apple OS operating system is based on a version of Free BSD, which is a UNIX-based operating system. Guess what? Linux is also an evolution of UNIX, and Android is a Linux tailored OS. To sum it up, Without Dennis Ritchie, there would be no modern computers, no Apple computers, no Linux, no Unix, no IPhone, no Android. Damn, even cars today, all the smart system and sensors they have are operated by a central computer that has again a Linux kernel running, so we won't even have modern cars, or smart appliances (also run Linux). But hey, Steve Jobs was a genius!!! F..k Steve Jobs.

Well, there’s a reason we remember Leonardo Da Vinci and not Jan Van Eyck (or whoever actually invented oil painting) 😉
@anthonymcrooster3703
@anthonymcrooster3703 Год назад
@@ac521 Nobody gave a f**k about Mona Lisa for centuries. I think Leonardo gained fame thanks to his sketchbook, which contained sketches way ahead of his time. Steve Jobs provided nothing revolutionary. He took the ideas already in circulation and gave them a fresh look, while exploiting EVERYBODY and EVERYTHING around him. A real American Dream poster child. People didn't start to buy Apple, because it was technologically superior to alternatives. Apple fad started, because their products looked sleek and cool. Apple fans are the victims of clever marketing. Cigarettes also became a fad, because of clever marketing, which made smoking cigarettes look cool, even though cigarettes are the worst way to enjoy/consume tobacco. Now we have Elon Musk, a new Jobs, except unlike Jobs, Elon only buys himself into potential startups' board of directors and then later hogs all the credit for all the progress those nameless scientists had made, before Musk was even part of these companies. People should stop celebrating people with money and glamour and start valuing people who actually come up with these revolutionary technologies. Actual work deserves more credit, than patreons' money. So in conclusion, Steve and Elon are marketing geniuses, but they didn't revolutionize anything. They both are the boss level of car salesmen. Lol, the latter actually is a literal car salesman. I rest my case, for now.

The reason people know who Steve Jobs and Bill Gates are is because they were better at marketing themselves and other people's products than they were at inventing things themselves.

As mankind gets more attached to those things, the more haywire everything is going to get. Apple definitely has great marketing. They have brainwashed generations of people. People buy new cameras attached to phones every year. Then these payers try to brainwash others into joining their new camera cult by saying something is wrong with our green chat bubbles. They have brainwashed people into buying clout over practicality. Everyone should use their phones for 3-4 years before changing. The only thing you lose by not changing is clout and an improvement in camera technology.

Apple hasn't invented much... They have taken ideas from other vendors, thrown their own spin on them and marketed them hard as new and amazing and revolutionary. Which they rarely were... It's just the brutal truth. Though you are not wrong that the whole mobile industry is stagnating at the moment and only getting incremental advancements. There has been very little real innovation on the mobile phones in the past 3-4 years if any and from any of the vendors. Loved the reaction and Bill's take on Jobs is on point... Jobs was good at marketing. In the early 90's he gave schools for free or at a reduced price, computers to teach children on. Both lessons and how to use his computer system. In the process he created a perpetual market, one that still works today. He created users as children, who as adults stayed with his products. Then he made his system proprietary, and made a fortune.

I’m 58 and the only skates we had were like a Tonka truck with a shoe on top! If we had inlines, we could’ve moved on to ice skates seemlessly! When I was a kid, we lived in northeast Texas. When they built D/FW airport, only South West airlines stayed at Love Field. In part of the terminal, they built an ice skating rink. On a visit to Dallas, we tried it and I wasn’t used to keeping myself up on a blade! Besides learning that, we had to get used to not letting our skates slide out from under us and bust our rears or face plant!

The whole point of this roast was that Jobs *DIDNT* invent those things... atleast not most of them. Coming up with an idea and having others make it happen is not something you should have credit for. I just this moment got the idea of a lighter that never runs out of gas, if I tell you to make it happen and you somehow manage it... should *I* be called a genius? I never got why people are so obsessed with apple anyway, its in a *best* case scenario on par with the other developers, mostly its actually inferior, still costs like 2 or 3 times more than anything else. Youre paying 70% for the logo, its ridiculous. Outside America, Apple doesnt dominate, most people in EU and Asia has Android. Mostly for the exact same reason PC crushes Mac on the computer scene. Compatibility, price, repairs and flexibility. Apple *SUCK* on all counts in comparison and anyone how doesnt admit that either never owned a PC or is a zealot fanboi... cuz its not even an opinion, its an objective fact.

That sad truth is that people would rather save 10% than buy from companies that don't use sweatshops. The price is all people seem to care about any more. Any PC of any brand you buy, is compatible with each other. Their formats are shareable amongst each other. Apple decided to do the opposite. You must have apple to share Apple. Even the Iphones are a pain in the ass if you need to borrow a charger. It's USB C type for Androids, but Apple decides to use their own specific type. This has been going on for a long time even with the Macintosh back in the day. Intel and AMD made the PC CPU, and Motorola made the Apple/Mac CPU. That one friend who had a Mac, was always left out.

That's a hell of a score for a 12 year old. I would of flipped my shit if I'd won something like that at that age!

The fact that Bill Burr can openly insult his audience and make them laugh at the same time is great. We know damn well there were some pissed off people though. It's actually insane how some people defend apple like you killed a relative of theirs or something for saying the products are garbage.

My mom bought me some blades when they first became popular. We lived at the top of a mile long hill which was probably 13-15% grade. I wiped out more times than I could count. You ever get going so fast on those you decide to veer of the sidewalk into someone yard in order to slow down and tumble for a good 15 20 feet? I found skateboarding and never put on a pair of blades again. 😂

I live in Mobile, Alabama , one street over from a roller skating rink and no one ever wore roller blades in there and you only saw one here and there outside of the rink.

I met jobs years before he died and I can state categorically that while he was a very creative person he was a POS human being. Ego out of control and as Burr says most of his success came from what other people did. He was creative though. I do also believe in karma and people don't get that rich, famous and powerful by doing good things and earning good karma so there was a reason why he died as young as he did. Dude EARNED it. And yes, he changed the world but so did hitler so maybe that isn't such a good thing to have done.

for decades I have been saying that. It was the other Steve that deserves all the credit, hmble Steve, "The Woz" Steve Wosniak and Spinoza created the hardware and software of the Apple IIe and Xerox gave them the Star (became the MacIntosh w/Lisa interface) and the mouse. Engineers hated Jobs the turnover was crazy they stayed only because the stock options and the stock was splitting. He did not invent a thing there is not a patent where he is the creator of anything. he just had an idea right out of his butt and he had the money and gall to believe could do it... sic sic... meaning some brilliant engineer he lured from Varian or Hewlett Packard
