A Piri is a type of Korean flute with two reeds often compared to an oboe. The song is roughly about the anxiety and fear of being alone and the Piri is like an S.O.S for help. The lyrics can get pretty dark once you understand the meaning behind the song.

This was the first time Gahyeon rapped in a song and she kills it! I love to imagine the producers being like wait.. you could do that this whole time?!

Well, we _do_ call Dami "Prince Dami" a lot, and this video just contributed harder to the nickname lol. This was Gahyeon's rap debut! She continued to rap going forward; you've heard it in "Scream"/"BOCA"/"Odd Eye" already, as well as in "MAISON" and a _little_ in "VISION." But she also raps a ton in their b-sides~

Fun facts about Piri: That iconic whistle melody is a sample, so you might have heard it in ads or maybe even on a different song, still cool how Leez and Ollounder built everything around that sample. Fun fact #2: IIRC this might be one of the first, if not the first song where Gahyeon raps (then rapping in Scream and BOCA seeing the success she had) Fun fact #3: Apparently Handong dislikes outfits from this era, we don't know which specifically and I sincerely don't know why she doesn't like them XD I am SOOOO EXCITED for Deja Vu, you will love it!! This is Gahyeon's rapping debut. We all freaked out when that happened. Also, the Double Jiu shot? That's precisely why Yoohyeon has the same hair, so they could film that moment. That's some good shit right there. Also watch Breaking Out, it's an alternate version of this story. This is the Bad End, Breaking Out is the Good End. Technically this is the end of the Nightmare Series, but Breaking Out is an alternate ending.

I love this mv too, no it's not as fancy but it has a haunting beauty to it, I find I really like DC's lower budget mvs because with low budget you can go two ways you can either go "eh it's a low budget mv no one's gonna expect much from it" and let it be just that or you can utilize everything at your disposal to enrich the storytelling knowing you can't just rely on fancy visuals and create a more subtle, eerie horror (my fav genre) and that's something DC does SO well.

Both of them coming from a small company without the massive support of the big producers, they have followed their own way against all odds. Because these ladies are more than pretty looking dancers, they are able to perform in all circumstances - every single one as a true soloist and even better together as a group. Piri have been my ring tone for the last 2 years and probably many more to come.

Piri is the first full song I heard from Dreamcatcher. I saw Dami's Boca rap in a couple compilations so I looked them up and Piri was the first MV to pop up.

As far as Korean Language songs, this is the last of the Nightmare Series. However, on the YT channel called Pony Canyon, DreamCatcher has some Japanese Language releases. One of them, 'Breaking Out', is said to be the 'alternate ending' or also sometimes called the 'true ending' to the Nightmare storyline. (I personally think it ties things up very nicely). All of their Japanese releases are HEAVIER than all of their Korean releases. Even with me telling you this, you might still be shocked. It's all AWESOME! If their Korean stuff is 'Light Rock' music, their Japanese stuff is Rock to actual Metal. Have fun. Luv ya both!

I'm so glad you guys finally made it to Piri, I've been waiting for this reaction since I started following your DC journey. Piri was the first DC song I ever heard and I was immediately hooked, and it remains one of my favorites to this day (though with Deja Vu next you might need to prepare to have your mind blown). One thing about Piri, the whistling sound you hear throughout the song is because the Piri they're referring to is a traditional Korean instrument like a flute. Blow the Piri is somewhat like Call out to me. BTW: Currently getting caught up on your DC livestreams on Patreon. I love how it takes you 2-1/2 minutes to actually get past the intro to the song. I hope you watch the Dance Video. The Choreo is always missed in the MV's. And yes, Prince Dami - Official Title. This was my first DC song that I listen. I have to say, that I fall first for the rock/pop sound. The drums of this song are amazing and fun to play. After listening almost every day, I fall for Jui and Yoohyeon, and after her comeback from China, Handong.

You guys will not survive, DejaVu. It’s arguably the best DC title track ever. I love all of their title tracks, but DejaVu is honestly on a different level. You’ll see what I mean. MV wise is also one of their best! Its just a whole master piece. It should’ve gone viral.

Some information for you... If you Google Piri the majority of the responses will tell you that it's a traditional double reeded Korean flute. However, it goes a little deeper than that. "Piri" literally translates to "pipe" and is used in Korea to generally refer to any pipe-like wind instrument such as a flute, recorder or even a hollowed out animal horn (see where this is going?). You called it. The piri in this case, according a statement SuA made during an interview, is the animal horn Yoohyeon picked up from the chair at the beginning of the MV. In the days of yore, before the invention of radio, Korean soldiers used to carry a piri. They would use this to call for help or sound an alarm. Hence the lyrics "Blow the piri" and "Emergency emergency". The story in a lot of Dreamcatcher's MV tends to be two-fold, one based on the song and one based on the imagery. Most of the time they overlap. Based on a statement made by SuA during an interview, this MV is primarily about loneliness, being separated from loved ones, etc. You might recall that at this point in the story line Yoohyeon has been stuck alone in the nightmare, separated from the rest of the group for some time. Another aspect of the MV is depression and anxiety, which is depicted in a lot of imagery within the MV. For instance, the clocks represent the passage of time, getting older and possibly never having enough time to do the things you want to do. The dolls represent the loss of childhood and innocence. My best guess about the telephones would be responsibility (work / parenting / etc related phone calls) and interruptions. And obviously the depression and anxiety brought on by loneliness. Knowing this, "I've had a gun for a while" takes on a whole new, much more ominous meaning. As for the song and MV... Well, we all know that, in the overall scope of kpop, Dreamcatcher is an S-tier group. For me, Piri is one of Dreamcatcher's S-tier songs and MV's. It's easily in my top 3.
