Everything you would ever need or want is in there. We've traveled in our for five years now and haven't regretted it for a minute. Air conditioned, heat, stove, refrigerator, shower and toilet, king size bed and cabinets - even an entertainment center. We love it! As seniors, we spend our time in national and state parks for maybe $20 a night.
I loved your story. My wife and I have been together for 28 years. We lived in a 32foot RV for about 7 years. We had to move in a regular trailer around 2.5 years ago because of Janet’s health. We both miss the RV so much. Enjoy your life together finding new things, places and friends. Wishing you both the best of luck.
I own a teardrop. I love mine. Go girls!! Enjoy your life. Get some solar panels and you can actually off grid camp and save some money on camp ground fees.
Thousand trails season pass or membership is best when full time and wanting full hook ups, or get some solar and off grid on blm etc, state parks too, monthly costs would drop to under 200 easily and save that money:)
I really like the layout of that teardrop. I've never considered a teardrop before because I have to have a bathroom with a shower. Looks like you ladies are happy which means you're doing this lifestyle right, you'll get better at saving money on expenses as time goes on.
wtf is that supposed to mean? ...if you guys are so insecure and/or afraid of how some people live their lives you should stay in the backwoods of Tennessee with your banjo pickin' cousin's...
Brian Bagby That is a really ignorant comment you made. Most assholes, such as yourself usually come from California or New York. See what I'm saying? Catch my drift?
I just don't get why you or anyone else has to comment on their relationship...It makes ZERO difference what or who they are..They seem like they're really happy. ..and maybe you're too far to the "Right" bro.
Minimalism is what makes life a lot more enjoyable, whether it be a small camper, a van, a car, a tiny home, or a smaller home and apartment. If you don't worry about accumulating stuff or competing against "the jones" then you will have less stress because you will work less and have more time. Time is the only thing you can't buy and all of us have a set amount of it, eventually it will run out.
Anything in moderate amount. Even with minimalism. Because if what really makes you happy is nothing, then are you saying homeless people are the happiest on earth? No.
True that. Plus the fact that you could do more with your life than working to live only a few years to RV around the country and then get too sick to travel. One of the biggest regrets of dying people is that they didn't experience more in their lives and wished they explored more when they were younger.
It's not about having nothing, it's about getting out of the illusion that things make you happy. It's like escaping the trap of consumerism that enslaves people into work/buying/debt lifestyle that traditional society dictates how you should live. Which leads us into differing political ideologies......so maybe it's not for some people. When you say homeless, are you using contempt ? Different kinds of homeless today. Homeless vs home less often, two different concepts actually.
who would dislike this video? This is the mine and my husbands dream! We both work remotely so that wouldn't be a problem. Also with our work we can work on our phones hotspot so no internet required from any other sources. Now .... to get the kiddos out of college and on their own! Congrats to both of you! What an awesome life :) PS.. you too are super cute together!
Excellent discussion about costs. I actually bought 6 pieces of land cheaply in different locations around the country and mostly travel and park at those locations for extended periods, otherwise I do the camp grounds and state parks.
I pay less for my apartment, and I have free water, electricity, heated floors in every room and fiber internet. on top of that I dumpster dive because there's just so much good food, especially in the winter when it's basically refrigerate for 6 month. Although... I don't have that freedom to move and explore like they do, it's comfy and convenient, but at the same time it restrict your freedom.
350 dollar a month for internet is really awkward as well. I pay (in the Netherlands) 35 euro a month for 12 Mbit down, 3 Mbit upstream (solid continuous speed). Pay 20 dollar for limitless highspeed internet, phone, sms on my mobile phone (including two full months in other European countries). And for the camping fee, 900 dollar seems rather luxurious. You could house sit, rent a backyard, boondock or things like that and save lots of money. But i guess they haven't really dived into those things because the luxury was good enough to them which offcourse is completely fine. Well, have been looking into this kind of lifestyle, but i rather convert and use a boxtruck or a moving van (or, as the Netherlands contains the worlds largest flower auction sites, an insulated boxtruck previously used for flower sales).
This comment section is sort of a bummer, I understood the video to be about how HAPPY YOU BOTH ARE. Didn’t get the impression you were trying to convince anyone of the cost efficiency or that this lifestyle is better than any other lifestyle....I really enjoyed seeing how you guys have found something that works for you, and how it works! So thanks, please don’t let any negative remarks bring you any negative feelings😁
Aww you're both gorgeous 😊💕 I'm happy I found your channel. I have been a minimalist for years now but I'm living in a rental and my dream is to break free. I adore your tear drop home it is ideally what I want. Freedom means not having to lug a huge heavy mobile home around too so i feel you found the perfect solution. 😊
I love that you guys were honest about the good and the bad. This lifestyle is something me and my boyfriend have been off and on talking about. Thanks for sharing!
Nice to see a REAL video of REAL people, who are living tiny! I am so wanting a camper to go places, ok let me get real here, GLAMPING! My husband would like one that drives, full contained but the cost on those, unless used maybe, is unreasonable. We never go camping/glamping but the small rv camper has been something we are looking at. Unless your’e retired and maybe with enough money, working still is sorta inevitable. My husband is a consultant and I am a Licensed Medical Massage practitioner. Easy for him to do remote work, a slight bit more challenging for myself! Just wanted to thank you for this insight you gave into “Tiny Living”.
Great camper. $900 camp ground fees, $300 Internet. GOOD THING YOU GALS ARE FROM SAN FRANCISCO. Anyother place and it would NOT seem like a "saver." Enjoy yourselves.
They are spending more per month than I spend on a 3 bedroom flat. Something is wrong with this. Living in hostels or AirBnB would be cheaper, than what they spend on camping fees.
I kind of get it that they used to live in a very expensive city. They could just have moved to a cheaper and smaller city, and then make road trips. They will get to this conclusion one day, but for now they seem to experiment and to enjoy their trips.
epSos.de- I Totally agree. I don't understand where they are getting all this money from? They aren't selling things on ebay. I mean there are a lot of employers that are utilizing people at the house and allowing them to work remotely. Even so, I imagine they have to be working round the clock to earn that kind of money. I own a house and am spending way less than them. I also make fairly decent money and I'm unsure I could or would want to afford $1250/mth on fees for internet and campground fees. I mean it kind of defeats saving money. And they aren't even getting equity. It'd be one thing if they were spending less than $500/mthly for ALL their needs then it would be the life. I just learned I never want to do this, LOL!
@@colleenbrown4292 that would be for the higher end newer models. Nucamp is expensive but a used one wouldn’t be over $20k. Unless these women bought theirs new a few years ago, they definitely didn’t pay that much. The 2021 model is beautiful, though, if you can afford it.
Thank you for sharing, and you tips! My husband and I are starting the same thing in 1 more year, when our youngest child goes off to college. We are going to live minimal while we pay for college. We have been planning and saving for this for 26 years now. 😊
@Eddy Jin Who is lying? It is true modern society influences us to stay in debt. I just got a credit card purely to improve my score. Capital One. The welcome letter excitedly informed me to start an online account so that I can "start spending immediately". I will not be doing so. The entire collective consciousness for modern living involves debt. You have to make a specific conscious decision to avoid it. If you just go with the flow, the flow is debt. This is why credit education has had to crop up to help counteract too many of us unwashed masses from going bankrupt, a necessary problem in such a society, but TOO many of us in bankruptcy is bad. You have to make a specific decision to avoid debt in order to participate in modern society.
I live in San Jose, so silicone valley, our rent is low because of how long we've been here but the neighbours pay $3600 for a 2 bedroom 2 bathroom rancher. I lived in Fresno for $900 a month for a huge lot and a 2 bed place years ago... California is very expensive (not a fan of CA 😩) and a very irritating place to live. Counting down the days to when leaving becomes a real option ⏳
Love the camper, I"ve shown these video's to my husband, something to think about. The freedom, simplicity, and it has all the comforts of home, just in a smaller space.
Stephanie Young Verizon is expensive period! I changed my wireless and tv triple play service by 1/2 the price! They need to shop around for a better carrier!
Agreed! Unfortunately though Verizon is the only company that reaches certain remote parts of the us (I'm not personally familiar with where these ladies are, but my parents have lived in the appalarian mountains for about 15 years and pretty much any other phone or internet hookup just doesn't work properly)
Laughter. Such a classic - in multiple sense. How many times have I watched this in latter years?? Thank you, for what is probably the most uplifting video of this 'genre' to be found!
Trini Gyal You can't get an apartment in California for $900/month, at least not in the Bay Area, they would have to move to a non desirable location in California
I learned from my personal experience that's not really true. I had a one bedroom place just one block from the beach in Long Beach for 825. And my gas and electric bills were never over $35 dollars. New upgrades on everything. I looked in the area for about 2 weeks. Places close to there are more expensive and also more cheap. I took what I found at the time and later discovered there was more. Some where crappy and more cheap. Some where crappy and more expensive. Some where better and more cheap. Some where better and more expensive. At the end of the day it taught me the best way to look for a great place that you want is using every tool consistently every single day. Either way I would do just fine in a tiny house or a regular house because I know how to look and shop. So think about it next time you may look for a place. Oh and this crazy old man laughed at me when I told him my price range and he told me I would never fond anything in that area cheaper or better. That place had no upgrades right on the beach and I would be embarrassed to have guest there. My place was just a few hundred feet away and much much nicer. Also I could just cross the street to walk on the sand. So check better next time you look. There's nice places and affordable everywhere. Just don't listen to people. Use all the tools. Penny saver, leasing offices, and their list, and their website, online, your feet, and driving. I learned that most nice places that are affordable don't publish everywhere. The way they do it is almost as if they get the right person in that they want to rent to. Without having to tell a bunch of people we don't want you to live here. While I lived there I even heard of nicer communities like Naples near by that had cheaper places too.
Furby Gender you are not considering their other expenses like insurance fuel repairs maintenance 350 just for the internet and many other cost water propane dumping fees and much more.
Why? Full size showers with endless hot water that don't require propane. Also there is the issue of grey water. It's illegal to dump your grey water in most places. Campgrounds are also better for security.
They are spending an average of $900.00 / month on camp ground fees, that is why! Grey and black water? There are plenty of inexpensive dump stations all over the US! Security? Yes camp grounds are more secure, but not worth $900.00 / month in my opinion!
I am shocked by how many people make van life about money. All I read is "900 dollars on campsites? 300 dollars on internet? I spend less living in my apartment, bla bla bla". Some people here are really missing the point. It's not about money and THINGS , it's exactly about the opposite.
Awesome ladies enjoy life , why don’t you guys get a cell phone plan unlimited and connect your laptop through your phone it would cost you less than half of what you are spending now on WiFi. Keep exploring and be safe. God bless. 😘
Nothings unlimited there or so what I’ve been taught it always gets slower and slower the more u use a month of ur data there hooking it up like that. I could be wrong ur probably smarter then me .
I used to have TMobile data for which you can have "unlimited" connection ince your paid speed runs out. But it was slow as heck. But I really liked that plan but I cut it off last year. I just went back to see if I could buy in again, but they ended it. Only grandfathered accounts can have it. 😭
I"m amazed by how large the camper is inside, that is to say, how it has a kitchen, a bathroom, a bed, etc...You wouldn't know that from looking at it from the outside.
This is a great tour of the TAB trailer! I think it’s because you two are actually living in it, as opposed to having an RV salesman show it to us. Thanks for this, and I think you look like great neighbors to have at a park!
We've ran across this video and see it as a mirror image of us ! Jessi and I laughed to hard! The only difference is yall are taller and we bought a scamp! We love that yall did this hope for more updated videos !
HOTSAUCE the area they live by is expensive payments are over 2500 for a small apartment. I’ve known people in the San Francisco area that pay mortgages of up to 3200.
why would anyone thumbs down to this? They did such a lovely job describing everything about the trailer and they are soooooo happy! I have lived in Los Angeles my whole life and have been looking for an apartment I can afford and guess what in two years I haven't found anything or otherwise I would give a whole paycheck to just have space. That is not living. Paying up to $900 sometimes to have the freedom of traveling whenever you want? sign me up :) Love this, be safe and well girls!
Just a thought Exploring Alternatives when ever you interview people living in something like this why not talk a little about the tow rig and how its working out for them. Just a thought and another good video :)
As long as we're making suggestions, I would LOVE to see a few cutaway photos of your subjects during their voiceovers, typically referred to as B-roll. Ideally, they would provide you with snapshots of themselves packing, buying their trailer, on the road, etc: helps to show us their personality and why they chose this lifestyle. Love your channel.
Brad Cornelius for that they would have to ask if the interview subjects have a social media account they'd like to share, then perhaps you can see those types of things.
Wow thank you ladies. I am going to retire first quarter of next year. I've been thinking about doing this. I also will be going over to Vietnam a country that I love to spend time on the beaches but not with the teardrop camper lol. I want the teardrop to be here when I come back. This is great encouragement
Great message! I have been looking at downsizing from a 1,012 Sq ft house, to a tiny house. I hadn't considered a teardrop until now. Thanks so much for sharing your experience! Safe travels :)
Well done video, thank you for sharing. I am only 5'7" so I would not have the problem that "poor Jessie" has. It's nice to see people enjoying life together. I wish you both all the best.
Awesome !!! me and my girlfriend have been talking about getting a teardrop trailer, it'd be so awesome living in a tiny home :) By the way my name is Jesse and my girlfriend is Valarie :) Thanks for your awesome video :)
Woooowwww can't believe you have all that in a teardrop!!! My goodness... Have you got the mesures of your bathroom!! Im a just amazed : a teardrop + a couple + 2 dogs all travelling!! And seeming having enough space... wooooww!!!
Wow wow wow I love it. This is really tiny. I didn't expect it to have a bathroom and toilet. It looks really small on the outside. Lol. So cute. Now I realize that a truck is better than a van (somehow). Coz you can utilize the back of your truck.
Yah mon! This is the way to reduce stress as well as contribute less to consumerism. I lived on boats and in campers for all of the 90s, and I’m about to embark on the gypsy life once again and I’m STOKED!
I'd love a follow up. Are they still living full time in their teardrop? Beautiful home and so nice to be so free and paired down. I'd love to see the addition of an outdoor screen dining/lounging tent and leave the bed made up when the weather is nice enough.
I have a completely traditional life and have my expenses down to 85 cents a day for have too's. Grow most of my food, make raised or grown most of the things I have. This is a 1200 square foot home that took me a year to build. I did all the labor. When people say they pay 900 a month a say I could buy 5 acres with that in a year and another house the next year with that. Food is free, you dont have to have internet electric can almost be free once you start making panels and converters and wind power from all the free material that people just through away. Living debt free allows a person to save almost 100% of ones increase.
Well done ladies. I am surprised by the negative and critical comments. Perhaps from people boxed in by debt and feeling a little bit envious of your freedom to explore, dance in the outback and live!
@@BearClawAK47 I have done that for five years straight , with NO concerns, except one day i had a bad splash back from the runs:( had to take another shower:)
Ur trailer is so different and unique I quite like it never seen a trailer in a teardrop shape before its so cute this type of living is good for u guys as u dont have kids it looks so cozy
Im asian, and in my culture, we often have relatives who come to visit and also sometimes stay over. So when we plan our lifestyle, its always not just focused on what brings us the most joy, but also what is best for the family as a whole. Not that I live in a mansion, but my home is planned in such a way that it accommodates our small nucleus family as well as our large extended families.
We just purchased this trailer used as a part of our retirement plans, same year I think (2017?). We got the model with the outdoor kitchen. We were sold on the size/storage. Glad to hear how much you are enjoying it. We are not prepared (yet?) to give up our house of 30 years and accumulated “stuff”. My thought, replace our battery with a longer life high performance lithium battery and add 150w of portable solar panels. We want to do a low cost National Park tour. My research says we can get internet via my Verizon phone plan; I know the hot spot works but haven’t tried to stream a movie.
