Right? I rewatched the pilot where Greg talked to Logan like a boss and he didn’t even realize how much respect it earned him. Love that moment Something only really noticeable upon second watch.
When I first watched that episode I was literally crying of laughter....that excruciating yet also wonderful back pain of laughter. It was absolutely hilarious. "I mean they can waft gas in here".
Talking about how Nazis are the worst while literally using a human being as a piece of furniture is the perfect summary of this show and its brilliance.
Nicholas Braun actually said in an interview that Jeremy Strong wanted Greg to join him on stage at one point cause he thought that Kendall probably would’ve run the lyrics by him before. They didn’t do it in the end but they did add the few shots of Greg cheering from the audience and trying to sing along, like he already knew Kendall was gonna do it.
i saw that the creator (he’s from the uk) was a writer on the thick of it for the first 2 seasons. it explains so much to me why i love the humour in this haha, it’s really similar but this is just a bit more serious in an american context. then omfg the dundee episode was mad to me as someone who went to uni in dundee. the fact that a big american show like this had an episode in DUNDEE,,, omg that whole episode was a pure overload on the senses man hahaha. even the little hibs/hearts purchase was so funny, i knew that was gonna happen. little jokes in the writing that shows they’ve put in the effort to have a wee nod to scottish things, it makes me happy that the writers must have asked brian cox for some input on that episode 😆
“Greg, you’re a criminal mastermind. What polyglot genius could ever hope to crack your impenetrable code.” The look that Matthew gives him after that...I just can’t 😵😆
Greg is already angry that he was put into that situation by Tom so it’s a literal situation of adding insult to injury. I hate Tom so goddamn much. I run into so many of these tiny kings on their tiny hills that I just struggle to empathize.
Hahahaha!! Tom Wambsgans (even the name kills me dead) is one of the funniest characters ever conceived and acted on any show. My favorite is after the Tomlette line and him saying it was just a joke with that nervous little self loathing laugh. Every scene is dripping with it. Except when his repressed anger is finally unleashed and he goes “fuck it” like when he ate Logan’s chicken 😂😂😂
Greg is basically what would happen if any random viewer was suddenly inserted into the scene. You vaguely know the tone people take and what legalese/businessy words people use, but would sound like an idiot trying to make a meaningful sentence out of it
Can anyone explain how he's being called cousin and refer to logan roy as his uncle?? I mean if his grandfather ewan is the brother of logan, then doesn't it mean that logan is also his grandfather?, And kendall shiv and roman are his uncles and aunt??,like i don't get it, do i miss something
Somehow my favorite line in this still ends up being Tom's "Ooh, but they're not in fact receipts!" The delivery is soo good. All of Greg's stuff is great too of course.
He’s old school. I find the older I get, the less bullshit I can tolerate. If I continue on this trajectory, I could definitely see myself getting to Ewan levels someday haha
@@jsghetler exactly that’s what no one seems to understand about Logan. The only person Logan has even remotely shown any respect for in the show is Matsson, which is why it makes so much sense for GoJo to run Waystar. In the end everyone’s so delusional with aspirations of greed & pride that they don’t understand how little respect Logan has for all of them.
In season 7, when roman has taken over the company by betraying Kendall, and Shiv helps get Connor impeached from the presidency, The family is meeting again. Cousin Greg is nowhere. Suddenly, the light flashes and an attack child stabs them all. and Tom realizes that Cousin Greg did it.
I love the pink lacoste he's wearing on the yacht; as if he found his mother's weathered old copy of The Preppy Handbook to try to figure out what the privileged class of NYC chooses for casual wear.
I totally get the Cousin Greg fandom but I still admire Kendall most: despite occasional ingrained moments of douchery, he's ultimately a fragile and vulnerable soul, and an instinctively kind and sympathetic person. Jeremy Strong acts the SHIT out of him.
@@tak3aw4y6 He really didn't. He dove twice into the lake to find the guy; he tried. Yes, he was driving; but they were both high on ketamine. The waiter accepted some degree of risk. It's a terrible situation but it's not fair to say Kendall killed him. This, by the way, is based on the very real Chappaquiddick incident involving Ted Kennedy. Senator Kennedy died in 2009 a hero; like Kendall, he was a good man who was involved in an unfortunate accident in which he made some bad choices.
@@slashdisco also the dude is the one who took the wheel and swung it off the road. When there’s a deer in the road, you hit that shit head on to avoid a worse crash
@@slashdisco why are people defending Kendall so hardly I’m so confused... you can say he’s an interesting and nuanced character without stanning him. He was in fact reckless and tried to escape taking responsibility for a boys death
Just saying that Tom had a more dramatic and emotional response to his underling possibly leaving him than he did when he found out his wife ON THEIR WEDDING DAY couldn’t be monogamous.
mainly because he fears shiv, but he thinks of greg as someone under him and thus he feels more comfortable to react to him as he really would and should
@@gudetamaenthusiast8315 I don't think he fears her, I believe he desperately doesn't want to lose her but can't really do much about it, so he leaves it out on poor Greg
The joke of this show is, everyone else speaks nonsense with rakish confidence, and Greg speaks common sense cautiously. Everyone thinks he's a fool, including himself, yet he's usually the smartest guy in the room.
He’s not necessarily the smartest but his lack of confidence makes him unassuming enough that he gets away with a lot more than other people in terms of being sneaky for his ambitions.
@@samanthadilillo3585i second this. you don’t have to be smart to be a successful capitalist, you need connections and the balls to use others for your own gain. greg has all of that AND the upside of not being his own worst enemy like the roys are to themselves
‘Fuck man I just turned down a quarter of a billion, and now I’m going to jail forever, because of this fucking guy!’ is the most underrated line in this video 🤣🤣
Cousin Greg will get to the top in two ways. Either by, being executive assistant to Kendall if he becomes CEO then maneuvering to a better position OR Grandpa Ewan dies and leaves him voting board shares with which he maneuvers to chairman. Can't wait, season 3 babbyyy!!!
This is the first realistic prediction I've seen of Greg's ascent. The whole "he's gonna run the company" thing annoys the fuck out of me, people should know by now it's not that kind of show.
What I love about Tom the most, is that he's the bravest of the whole show, but he does it in the most awkward, nervous way possible. Honest to God, I aspire to be like that
