Do we need to know for the current AQA spec how sigma/pi bonds work? And in more complicated questions if both compounds have a spare pair of electrons how do we know which compound donates their pair and which one receives it?
+Ashleigh Knowles Not particularly, just have to remember the general reactions really. They all follow some kind of pattern e.g. acid + carbonate will produce salt, carbon dioxide and water. Keep practicing. Exam papers and you will see that many of them you will become familiar with the general products.
