RZ M2 Mesh Dust/Air Filtration Mask
The Exhalation valve doesn’t filter it allows water droplets to freely exit the mask. It will protect you, but not those around you. The intent of the face mask orders in USA are to protect others. The RZ mask doesn’t prtect others from you.
This is the mask I'm taking to Europe next week. The Corona Virus is taking the world by storm. To borrow from the wisdom of the Boy Scouts, Be Prepared.

I got this from their website because I too wondered about this, not because im transmitting perse, but because my employer does not allow masks with air vents. RZ now has filter caps. I have the M2.5 and the F3 high-flow carbon filter. Very comfortable and breathes well even with the caps in place. The difference in flow between the standard filter and the F3 is pretty significant.

I just spray mine with dawn soap and let it soak then wash and air dry and it’s good to go 👍🏽

If you protect yourself by wearing a good mask like this and not getting infected, then you are in essence protecting others. Furthermore, it seems to me that although the membrane that fits behind the exhaust allows your breath to exit, it does "filter" it; your breath is not just escaping into open air.

All masks releases exhale air somewhere, whereas the air filtration masks releases the air in a controlled exhale valve, thereby making it more effective than non valve masks. The air filtration masks are getting a bad rap and the point that you brought forth in your comment is right on point.

So is there a way to disinfect the filter the outer layer after you have been breathing on it and how do you clean the entire mask step by step if you can please !

Just a heads up was looking around for mask, and managed to get a large and x-large at around 4am with shipping looking around april 17 and 22. Just keep an eye out regularly as they're back down to reasonable prices at $35 a piece. Stay safe everyone!

@@hardcorehom Sorry I cant believe I forgot to mention lol. It was Amazon. They sold out pretty fast, but because there are so many varieties I just reccomend looking throughout each style and see if they go back into stock each morning. Goodluck bud!

Rz mask has not been accepting returns or exchanges this year. I know I ordered for my gf and I early this year(February) hers was too big, no exchanges had to buy another.

The exhaust port is just a plastic membrane. No need to change them unless it’s lost or broken.

In September I will be returning to teach at my school. What respirator mask would you recommend that i could wear whole day. I would like a respirator that is reusable.

Good question, what are you wearing the mask for? I don’t know if wearing this mask all day is ideal if you want to protect others. If you are concerned about your own health, I like this mask

Mark Vasconcellos another viewer had a fix. Place a HEPA filter where the membrane goes. It requires a little hack, but seems like great idea.

Working on it. I had two issues. Price gouging, and then Amazon yanked my affiliate account due to lack of traffic. I just asked the folks at RZ mask for a link to their store. rzmask.com. We’re what comes of it. I do like the mask, I am just not comfortable linking to amazon with the price gouging going on.

I grabbed 4 of these yesterday ( got lucky and they had stock ) because I work in a prison and quite a few co workers are using them . I know it’s not 100% but at this point it’s the best I’m going to get . Kudos to RZ mask for keeping us safe !

I work at the Airport and was wondering if you had tried wearing the mask for a long period of time and if you found any issues with it such as breathability? One of my biggest issues with the 3M N95 Mask’s was breathability, since I have mild asthma my only real option was those half masks with the filter, but working at the airport I don’t want to instill fear let along look too excessive lol

I did and it’s not good for any kind of aerobic activity. Like breaking a sweat is not fun. But I was able to control my breathing and it got better. I found the mask to be very comfortable. The filters are good for 60 hours. If you isolate the filter between uses and give it 9 days, you could reuse the filter 7 times. Probably longer since you’re not dealing with sawdust.

You have 3 types od filters. There is one dedicated for athletes. You can use it for many hours. I'm using it often during biking.

My use of the mask shifted from protecting me to protecting others from me.That said, don't disinfect the mask. I am more concerned about getting others sick. I also have a strong suspicion that I picked it up on a cruise in January. I only head out for necessities anymore. I actually bought a half dozen masks from a local FB group. They are way more comfortable and just as effective at protecting those around me. I do like good design. I ran a design contest a few years back. Steele Wheels. Wow, I do understand the difference between self protection and protecting others. Sucks to hear of the cruise incident. I was sick late January this year. All of my 20some years I have never felt a sickness so intense. It lasted about 10 days. Started off as achy legs. Then achy legs and non stop headache. Then achy legs, headache, and fever. Then all the above and cold sweats. I would feel so cold my teeth chattered and I couldn’t sleep but was running 103+ temperature. I lost a few pounds. Once everything started getting better I had a sore throat and head aches here and there. The achy legs was unbelievable! I was with a foreman that was sick but still working. He stayed in his vehicle 90% of the time and told me he thinks it’s the flu but a really bad round for him. I never had the flu. I been around quite a bit that had flu and I never got it. Well any ways he never was sure what he was sick with and neither was I. I stayed home and rested. Thanks!

Finally found one in stock for $34ish. Came with two filters. No luck getting extra filters yet tho. They seem to come into stock randomly. Just gotta stay on top of it.

Valve masks(with filter) are perfectly safe if everyone is wearing a mask.

Not exactly. If everyone wears one, valve masks will only offer a single layer of protection, whereas if everyone wore regular N95s, everyone would have two layers of protection.

@@catatoblob8598 for work, I have worn every type of mask and respirators, masks with exhaust are easier to exhale, obviously plus some pollution type filtered exhaust masks are rated at N99 or R99. And if everyone is wearing at least an n95 they should be highly effective. They do have their drawbacks for long term use like any mask.

@@jabufrik4063 yea, but there's no filter over the exhaust, otherwise it wouldn't be easy to exhale. Thus if everyone wore masks with unfiltered exhaust, everyone would only have the net protection of 1 mask, instead of 2. If you put a filter over the exhaust, it would no longer be the path of least resistance, which would make air would be come out in all directions and fog up your glasses, instead of being vented downwards.

According to the CDC it’s no longer an epidemic, it’s a pandemic. Border controls based on countries are no longer that effective. Control is switching to self isolation. The big issue happens when Healthy people hide in fear. The Dow Jones Index has lost over 10% in 3 days. This is just the beginning, but I think it’s a mistake to live in fear. I’ve been planning this trip for months. I have to return on short notice, it’s only money.

I got one as a gift when the Columbia River Gorge was on fire a year ago or so. I actually forgot about it until a week ago. I see from this video that my friend who gifted it to me swiped 3 filters and the two breather knobs. His bday is coming up, I'll make sure I swipe something that I'll gift him. Hahaha! This make is definitely great.

Agree that it's extra work. Even more when you consider disinfecting the outer shell. But for fit, comfort and 99.9% particulate filtration it does a good job. I have yet to use mine. I thought it might come into play in a situation like what happened at O'Hare, but it shouldn't come to that. In studying how this virus works you learn that the mask only helps in specific situations. And the only good use of the mask is by a health professional. If you're sick, or you think you might be, you need to stay home. Also, there are so many ways to screw up with the mask. It's a lot of effort, but even the disposable ones should be reserved for the health care people online. You can't buy one through me. And there are no affiliate links tied to this video. Stay healthy

@@steelemedia I already ordered one from RZ's website... They just ordered a statewide stay at home law here in California but I work Firewatch. My job is considered "Essential" so I'm exempted from this law and I need a mask for my firewatch graveyard and swing shifts.

I had a n95 mask, my glasses were dogged up, it was hard to breathe, and I got coughed on today by someone “not confirmed” to have it virus but I’m super worried so I upgraded to this mask. It’s NOT comfortable because it doesn’t attach to your ears and keeps sliding down. It is a little more secure around my eyes. Also I only got 1 extra filter. And it’s not black . But it’s the only thing I have rn to “protect my life “ thank you very much

It's intended for wood working. So attaching to the ears wasn't a consideration. I didn't find it very comfortable either, but I have issues with CPAPs anyway. I'm glad it gives you a sense of security in these uncertain times. In two weeks, I traveled 12k miles with it in the bottom of my luggage. I didn't once consider putting it on. I would give it to a doctor, but doctors need disposable masks, so, I'm stuck with it. If I need to sand something, I'm covered. Stay healthy, and don't let people cough on you if you can help it.

if you buy the M 2.5 not the M 2. it has a extra strap that will also be by your ears and it fits better and is more comfortable for longer periods.

Ummm yeah...if these masks we so good and filter 99.9% I think we would use them in hospitals,etc. just saying not sure of the literature or research behind this product

They are not disposable. They require maintenance. And I think there's an issue with the construction. These masks are actually filter 99.9% of airborne particles. Much more than just the amount of filtration goes into approving products for medical use.

The masks don’t protect others. The diaphragm lets air freely exit the mask.

@@steelemedia Although you are absolutely correct in that the air coming out is not being filtered. The diaphragm does block the spittle, and droplet spray for the most part that comes straight out. If there is a true airborne element it won't help of course, but it's got to block as much as a piece of cotton that some people are using. With the benefit if at least filtering your air. PS: The workaround for this problem is just to put a piece of HEPA/HVAC filter in front of the diaphragm.

I haven’t used it yet. Unless you’re a doctor, there’s no good reason to use it outside of being sick and going somewhere. Which nobody should be doing. If I a,m forced into a line like they had O’hare it will come in handy.
