*NEW PRODUCT LAUNCH* I'm so happy with the quality of the line of gear from CazGear! Check it out at www.mwhoof.com and send me a pic or video of you in your MHT gear!
I'm grateful for the farmer's good-natured indulgence with the filming. He could have wanted no camera shenanigans, just focus on treating the cow and that's all. Instead he seemed quite content to have the entire thing filmed, so we got to see something rare. I hope the farmers know how grateful we are to them for their indulgence.
Yes! And with all the negativity that could come with an injury video he trusted that people would see that we are working to help and truly care about the cows. But he did put himself out there by allowing me to film an unfortunate circumstance and I'm grateful that you guys will get to see us do everything we can to help Pizz get through this and be a healthy comfortable cow again 😊
@@midwesternhooftrimmer6735 you guys are doing great work! you can really tell he cares about his animals by how clean it is there and its heartwarming to see family farms like this.
Bless Her Heart! I can't imagine the pain that cow must have felt when her capsule was torn off. Thank you for being so kind with her. The Dairy Farm and Farmer are nice.
I actually spoke with a Veterinarian after I shot this video and he agreed 100% with how we treated the situation. He agreed that he would rather try to see it heal 1st With a block and amputate as a last resort.
Good to see! This shows the amount of torque that the 1st cow puts on that claw when she pivoted. It was eerily clean for essentially being a large nail wrenched off her digit. Well done! The cow you showed when you returned to Pedro wouldn't have anything to do with you! She was pissed! She did the cow equivalent to "Aww, h*ll no!* She ran out of there as fast as her newly trimmed hoofs could carry her! That really shows the difference in personality of the cows, the last one was so friendly in comparison! Great video, I'm crossing fingers for positive updates from the Pizz cow. (I did hear that right, right?) The lineage was Pizza, Pizzazz and Pizz?
That’s crazy how a slip ripped her “toenail” off. That’s something you don’t see often. Glad you were able to film it and help her in her road to recovery!
Maybe, but not all that surprising, either. I broke the toenail on my right big toe in half just about every year when I was a kid, usually from tripping over something.
Aaron you don't have to defend your job duties to anyone. I think it speaks volumes when it's rare to find cows with painful dermatitis or whatever else could go wrong. I enjoy just watching the trimming and would rather you didn't find painful issues. I hope the Mama that lost her hoof capsule heals well. Thanks for sharing. 🙂❤🐄
Just seems strange to me that he'd feel the need to defend his duties of *caring for animals* in the first place, but I grew up in a rural community in the Midwest. I'm still often thrown for a loop and *very much* offended when people talk like keeping livestock and farming is evil.
@@brigidtheirish Down here in Texas, I cannot imagine any rancher or diary farmer treating their livestock with anything but exquisite stewardship. They care for their animals deeply, and they hold a deep respect for what they mean to us as a resource. The least evil people I've ever met are farmers.
@@brigidtheirish Every aspect of farming includes the word WORK, and idealism generally increases along with the distance from the issue. Great farms, great farmers, great care for their livestock. Their reliance on Aaron and Pedro has been earned, earned over many years.
@@thomasmleahy6218 Quite right. So many people have this Arcadian image of nature being harmonious and peaceful if not for big, bad humanity when reality is a lot more violent and messy. Then there's the ignorance. Dad got a call once from someone who was coming in for a meeting with Dad's boss and wanted to know not just if the roads were paved outside the metro area, but if he'd have to *rent an ATV* to get anywhere.
Poor mama! She's lucky she has a farmer that cares and someone to help take care of that hoof! Please keep us posted if possible and thanks for sharing!
She walked SO MUCH more comfortably (and confidently) after the block and treatment. Things like that have to really be rewarding for you. Hopefully, she can recover and won't need an amputation, however, just the relief you are giving her is huge. And a big thank you to the farmer for allowing us to see this!
Agreed! So much better! And Bruce could be a stand in for a crush, big strong man, and he loves his girls. Super video, thanks Bruce and Aaron. Glad you have the experience to drive sensibly in that weather. It can be tricky in a pickup with no weight in the back. I had some experience driving an El Camino, I felt it rode best carrying a refrigerator in the back.
It’s so nice that the corium is left intact! Hopefully she grows back that hoof and it isn’t distorted. If she’s really lucky it could be like nothing happened in a year or two
Did not look as bad as I was expecting. Hopefully since she had such a “clean” injury, it will be able to heal and regrow properly! 🤞🏻 Thank you for taking such good care of these animals!
Just found your channel, youtube suggested because I watch The Hoof GP (the guy in Scotland)! I've never seen this happen before. Thanks for doing such a good job helping her. Sending best wishes from Memphis, TN! Happy Weekend!
Me to and this was the one they told me to watch!! My grandfather owned a dairy in Idaho. Saw this happen once before and people don’t realize how serious this can be. Great job.
Ouch! Poor Pizz! I'm glad the farmer noticed it soon after it happened and was able give her appropriate care til you were able to get there. You can tell he cares about his cows - and she was so well behaved while you treated her! I hope she has a quick and easy recovery!
Oh, poor mama Pizz! She was so good while you were working on her. I'm glad she has a box to herself for a bit. Hope you can update us in the future on her progress. Well done , Aaron !!
She appeared to be a lot more interested in watching what you're doing then being uncomfortable. Pedro always does such a good job when he trends he's so efficient. And I sure hope that that poor white cow ends up feeling better I know she was definitely walking better by the time you guys were done with her great job as always thank you for the video
I’ve had my big toe nail removed a few times because I suffer from ingrown toenails and I can only imagine how much pain that cow has been in. I think it’s awesome that you’re so knowledgeable and able to help these cows.
I've lost the nail on my right big toe twice due to injury (dropped stuff on it) and both times it grew back okay. I hope Pizz's hoof capsule grows back well too!
I've had my large toe toenails removed multiple times for bone spurs growing up under and ingrown toenails. They are thick now and not so pretty. Had one injured twice last year and still black underneath. Some of the nerve endings in my left big toe has been damaged through all this. Poor cow. So glad there's a solution to help. Hope it works.
@@teresatrump8366 you can have them permanently removed so they don't grow back if you've needed to get them removed multiple times! It doesn't look weird unless you look closely. My mom had one of her chronically ingrown toenails removed and from a distance it looks totally normal
Get your doc to pull it out and apply some sodium hydroxide to the cuticle and it won't ever grow back anymore. Has no negative effects except you no longer have that toenail. That's it. It sounds drastic but it's better than an ingrown imo
@@batfurs3001 I had this because I have a nail bed that is bigger than my can allow without it becoming ingrown. After I had this done my toes actually still look normal because of how wide my nail bed was.
The amount of sarcasm and salt you dished out this upload is the reason I subscribed. Some people will never be happy unless they are making others unhappy. Y'all absolutely know what your doing with respect to the cows well being and safety. 👍
I feel for the cow and can just imagine the pain she is in. I'm glad the vet feels that going the simple route first is best to start. It was wonderful how you went to help this farmer as quick as possible.
I’m still watch on my TV while I comment on my iPhone, I really wanted to express the emotions I’m feeling about this poor Pizz. The fact that there is a possibility that she will probably heal after your help (and her farmers) and not have to loose a limb or life. This is such an important job you have maintaining the health of these ladies feet. (We all know the trims help prevent worse health issues) I look forward to all and any updates on this pretty girl. Thank you Aaron and Pedro.
That is quite impressive! Bruce was so generous to let you share this with us. Great job, Aaron. His instincts to get that wrapped quickly were spot on. I hope she heals up quickly. That looked painful.
That poor cow. I'm impressed at how well she was moving. I'm really glad we have our finger and toenails on the top. P. S I loved the pile of cats you walked past. Best summer of my childhood was when we had three litters of kittens on the farm before I went back to school. Calves and kittens, two of my favourites!
I can’t imagine her pain. Thank you to the farmer and the speedy and sensible care given right after the injury. Excellent hoof care and excellent video. Best possible outcome from the best possible treatment. Well done to everyone and big prayers for the lovely Pizz that she recovers fully.
Thank you for taking us to Pizz, the cow who lost her shoe. Poor love. But I'm sure you'll see her to right. Amazingly neat capsule. A love see all the kinds of barns and farm infrastructure.
I was expecting an absolutely horrible sight and am glad it wasnt that bad! Do an update video for us please! Im glad the vet was happy with how you have handled her foot!
I love how much you teach as you go. I will probably never need to trim a hoof, but learning the how's and why still feels like an enriching experience.
You just ran the whole gammet of emotions through me with this video. Wow, great "Oreo cookie" blending of information, IE: good, bad and good (positive, negative, positive) and this is why I'm sure you're our favorite channel! Thank YOU for always being YOU.....Cheers from Texas Ohhh, if possible, please keep us posted on that beautiful Yazz!!
I love how you explain everything you are doing in these videos plus recording the cow's reaction to the trimming. I can tell you really care for these animals and love what you're doing. I hope Pizz made a full recovery. Thanks for sharing!
Its going to take about a year for full hoof wall restoration to occur from the coronet band (human cuticle). In the meantime, the internal structure of the claw needs to be protected from injury and infection. Healing this could go south quickly. It'll be interesting to see how this works out. Thanks Aaron!
Great informative video. I liked how you commented on you end of day cleaning of your equipment. And your emergency call was also very informative. Good to see those old style barns still being used! I'm a wausau boy so I know what our wisconsin winters can bring day in and day out. Both of you stay warm and keep the videos coming!
Nice work! Please give us a follow up on Pizz! That was a rough accident and I hope she is able to recover completely!! As for the bellowing mama, she says "get that thing outta my face dude!" LOL The last mama would have let you pet her all day! Stay safe you guys and keep the videos rolling!!! Best wishes from Kentucky!
Omg. That POOR Cow 😢 Thank you so much for the care you provided. My heart breaks for the farmer. He obviously loves his cows, and is suffering alongside her. ❤️
My grandpa had a small cow farm when I was little girl (60 years ago). I am amazed how much work goes into maintaining feet. He did all of his cows by hand. Must have been a real chore.
Aaron, I subscribed a couple of months ago after watching a guy in China trimming donkey hooves....your channel came up and for some reason, I find this work you and Pedro do fascinating 😀 it's not too difficult to see the care and compassion you gentlemen display. I'm pleased when you drop another video ! Thanks again and stay warm !
I know it’s a “normal” thing but I think it’s hilarious that while he’s showing the hoof cap there are like 4 different cows shitting in the background🤣
I hope you can give us an update on her when you check her again. Good job on how you treated her, how gentle you tried to be with her and even double checking yourself with the vet.
I didn't expect all of that horn to come off like it's a shoe. You literally have to see the hollow shell of a hoof to believe that that is how this injury happened! And I agree 100% with your decision to block the girl first. It gives her a shot at natural recovery and saves her from the dreaded Reaper-Mobile for a time. If she recovers from this, then we can say "This cow had pulled her whole hoof off by accident, and cheated death in the process."
I’ve been on the trend lately of watching cow hoof trimming videos, and this is really interesting. I never knew how stressful, or satisfying trimming a cow’s hoof could be. I love watching the time and care put towards these incredible animals just so they can live a comfortable life.
What a great farmer to let you film! That didn't look as bad as I was expecting it to be. I'm so glad you were able to help her. It's great the farmer also gave her a chance to be helped. It was amazing on how she was walking after you put a block on her. Thank you for taking care of her ❤️ and thanks to the farmer that gave you a chance to help her before discarding her 😊 ❤
I watch Nate the Hoof Guy and this was recommended to me. This is my first time watching, and I look forward to more of your videos! Is there an update on the cow? I was really concerned for her and I like that you took care of her.
Aaron, on behalf of that Mama, I can't thank you enough for how you helped her. I'm recovering from knee surgery and when I saw her foot, my knee ached.
What a nice cooperative cow! I am very interested to see the healing/progress. Can you let us know? Looks very good fo far. She walks much better with the block.
Oh that looked so painful, poor girl looked in so much pain before you treated her. It was wonderful to see her using that foot afterwards. I hope she made a full recovery ❤
Poor Darling Pizz!!! Please keep us updated on this one! Thinking of her pain made me cry. Losing the entire capsule would be lie us losing all but the last layer of skin on our feet…of worse!🥺 ♥️🐄♥️🐄♥️
Aaron, you are brilliant to show a shot of the cow’s face as you are trimming. First time I have seen this done. She did look pretty comfortable. I hope the emergency cow has a good outcome. I’ve had a toenail ripped off and the cow must have had ten times my pain because she had to put pressure on it when walking. Would an amputation, if necessary, be just that damaged claw?
Very pleased w your gentle, professional way w this babe! Hurts my soul, to see! You know that she's in pain. I thk God, for peeps, such as yourself, willing to do this. Not an easy job! Thk u again! ❤🙏🙏😇
From the 1st day a person starts trimming, how long does it take to be able to trim and feel comfortable doing so? I know it depends on the person but like a week, month, year, years?
My buddy worked with his boss for a couple years before he ventured off to his own hoof trimming bussiness. Not sure if its the same everywhere but i believe as an apprentice its a year usually
Great job. I've watched the hoof go for several years. Just found you guys. Wanted to thank you for all you do. Definitely needed work and the cows win win.
I love hoof GP and have learned a lot about cows that i didnt know before. This was an interesting medical case. Thank you and the farmer for sharing this with us.
Poor mama! I'm so glad you could get there and fix her up! I know she'll do great under your care! Thanks for taking us along! And no gloves doesn't bother me! 😉
I don't see why you keep having to explain yourself. IF they would pay attention, they would know how serious you take their welfare and your job! So annoying for the rest of us that they talk without having their story straight.
It was nice to see how much you enjoy the cows they certainly can pick up on your calm and caring. Nice you showed how it picks up the front foot, I have thought that too that it appears to twist her leg, thank you for that.
What a wonderful farmer! Accidents happen all the time, especially with a lot of animals, but you can tell he really cares about his animals. Their setup is really nice, and the fact that the foot is so hard is super good, it means the girls aren't standing in a wet environment for too long. Plus he seems like such a good natured person.
That poor baby!! I know you did all you could and I was glad to hear you were treating her for pain as well because you know that was extremely painful. I grew up on a farm so things like pain and bandages I pay attention to because when I was growing up that wasn’t always the farmers focus and I’m so happy that has changed over the years!! They deserve to be cared for just as much as any other animal because they really do a lot for humans and it always breaks my heart when I see any animals in pain so it’s great to see you and other on this platform helping care for the cows that ultimately benefit humans. This is the first time I’ve commented on your channel but I had to cuz that face of hers was so sweet and I hope she’s doing better even tho I have no idea how long it’s been since that happened but I’d love an update on her as possible unless I’ve missed them and, if so tell where to go to watch please! Thank you for your videos I really love seeing the cows as it takes me back to my childhood and even now my youngest grandson loves the moo cows 🐮😁🐮
So glad the farmer wrapped her up so well. He clearly cares about his animals, you can see by how healthy and calm they all are. I imagine with an injury that severe, if she didn't trust that farmer, no matter how big he is she is still bigger, she wouldn't have cooperated so nicely having her foot tied up and just standing there while you dealt with the foot. Also glad to see how quick and attentive you were in getting that wound cleaned up and getting the block on.
Omg she must be in so much pain. I hope she's healing well. I love she has a name and not just a number. You were so good with her. New subbie. Good job.
