Cowboy Junkies "Five Years" (David Bowie Cover) Latent Lounge 

I ran out into the night right after an Iggy show at the Harvard Square theater in 1977. I was alone in front of the theater on Mass. Ave. A limo pulled around the corner and stopped at the traffic light in front of me. I knew. I ran up to it and knocked on the smokey windows. And then....then....Iggy...David Bowie...and Debbie Harry all leaned forward and waved earnestly ....teeth gleaming. The light changed...the limo sped off ....I was alone with that moment no one saw. When I hear " 5 Years", I think of that slow motion dream moment. Only...it was real.

As a Bowie fan for 50 years, it's great to hear a band treat a favourite seriously, and do such a good job.

This is my favorite video on RU-vid hands down. I grew up listening to cowboy junkies, fell in love with their sound, and they’re one of the bands that inspired me to do music as a career. And David bowie has had the same profound effect on me. So when I saw this video, I just cried. And listened to it ten, fifteen more times. I need this on an album!!! 💕💕

Holy FUCK-- this song, in particular, is Bowie personified and I hate ever cover I have found but this is masterful, sung with so much passion.

If you ever have an oppo to see this band live, take it. Theybare super tight and Margo's voice just gets better with age. She's stunning and her stage manner, while humble, is somehow very compelling.
