Cowboy took everything that was wrong with the Boss and corrected them with the Outlaw machine. I'm a proud and happy owner of an Outlaw. I noticed Tippmann put out a video comparing the Boss with the Outlaw..with comments turned off, of course. If Tippmann had built more quality into the Boss rather than rely on nylon and aluminum parts within..much cheaper to make and far less reliable..then perhaps they would have not lost Tandy Leather as an outlet for their machines. I do love the increased throat room of the Outlaw over the Boss and heat-treated steel parts within versus aluminum and nylon is a no-brainer..congrats on owning a fine machine! :-)
I was kind of wanting a sewing machine powered. Then I figured out craft fairs it will be much easier to not have to run power. Built well? Good lord and how! There are videos of people sewing leather to the tune of almost an inch think. I’m still figuring out the tension but even that is pretty straight forward.
I agree. So far this machine is very consistent if you use the right thread, needle, and tension. I have tested 3 different needle sizes and thread. I tried sewing webbing to....it works.
Your so happy dude! Honest to God 🙏 because of your vid. I’m saving up for one of these instead of buying a knock-off or even saving thousands.. thanx dude ..!!!👍🏾👍🏽👍🏻
Welcome, I was going to get a cobra class 26 but so far this has done everything I need it to do and I’m still learning new things about it. I noticed there are no used ones out there so people must be happy with them. Reminder to get the smaller needle and smaller matching thread to work on lighter materials and thinner leather 👍🏼
Be patient with it and if you don’t get perfect stitches in 15 minutes, call Ryan Neal at the manufacture. It’s probably shipped and set up for very thick leather so keep that in mind. Maybe run some thicker leather through it first. Order the thinner needless and thread for thinner leather. Don’t forget to adjust the tension on thinner leather. Plan on waisting a little leather so you can practice and get used to the tension knobs but once you get some common settings, set it and forget it.
It really doesn’t make errors and gives a perfect stitch. Practice your starting and ending points on scrap leather. At least one other RU-vidr has a great technique for locking in stitches. I switched to his technique because the videos were made when I hardly knew anything about the machine. Since then, I get perfect needle position/back stitches start and finishes.
It’s pretty much human error that causes a non perfect stitch. When you are making turns on stitches, I know realize you can stop, squeeze the handle, move the leather, pierce the hole “exactly “ where you want it, then cycle the arm to finish the stitch and repeat. Instead for doing it quickly on a rhythm if that makes sense for precise work. Don’t forget Ryan Neal knows this machine so we’ll and can guide you through problem solving on phone. He’s the best in customer service.
Nice! I have a tippmann boss, and although it does work well for me, I have a few issues with it. Throat room, I like making backpacks and messenger bags, even my hats I have to work around sometimes...just not enough room. I also don't always like the way it damages the bottom side, not as clean as I see the cowboy 4500 for example.
Hello I have used all 3 different sizes light, medium, and heavy, the thread sizes are: .138, .207, and .277. You have to use the corresponding needle that matched these thread sizes. It’s easy to change out the needle.
Neal (Ryan Neal) is the owner of Cowboy outlaw sewing machine. He gets back to you and I give him a great review for his customer service and follow up. I explain that on the follow up RU-vid review.
