As a 49ers fan, I couldn't care less if people think Brock Purdy isn't as good as Dak Prescott, as long as we're playing like we did week one and winning games. Purdy could be ranked 32 out of 32 for starting QBs in the league, as long as we're winning I don't care.
Your roster is so good that Purdy could be top 15-20 (which is where he probably is) and it would be enough to win big games with. I don’t know if I trust Shanahan in big moments in the SB so that’s a concern.
Purdy is getting disrespected. The guy does extend plays when Shanahan's calls don't work and keeps his offense on the field which allows the SF defense to stay fresh and be explosive when they do come in the game. That is complimentary football. This is part of what made Brady win so much. Long drives that eat up clock, tire out the opponent D while keeping your own defense fresh because they are resting between their drives. You need to watch Purdy before you put him in a "Game manager" mold with guys like JimmyG and Tannehill. He is still just 23 yrs old and can improve some aspects with more games. Also he's not the only QB benefitiing from a great scheme and players..Tua has a great playcaller and Hill+ Waddle who are uncoverable....Burrow has Chase+Higgins (Two WR1s), Mahomes has possibly the #2 TE ever and a top 3 playcaller ever, Allen has a 2 top 15 WRs in Diggs+Davis, Hurts has 2 top 10 WRs in Smith and Brown plus the best OL... It's unfair to put his success solely on the coach and team around him. It helps but he has also helped make them better...ie Aiyuk's career game yesterday and Kittle's best TD season last yr. Give the guy his credit
There should be a Stat for average yards per non scoring drive. It is so important for field position. Takes pressure off the defense and places it the opposition offense. Turnovers from your own 30 yard line are killers.
@@thomasblock1164 Yeah. Especially when you have the lead. You don't necassarily need to score...just stay on the field long enough..gain enough yards while eating clock and punt the ball FAR to the other team, making them have to go 80+ yrds with less time to work with vs a rested defense. I feel like few football fans understand how important ball control is in today's NFL where offense can easily tire out defenses due to the rules of this era
@micahkiyimba8641 Right. Plus, it probably reduces scoring likelihood by 50% for every extra 20 yds. If you have them starting inside their 10 it really reduces their scoring possibility and subsequently improves yours.
Haters gonna hate. If you look at the game and you can see Purdy made great decisions. He can find second option when the first option fails and deliver with confidence. And I don’t need a good QB, I want a winning QB.
Nick has embarrassed himself a lot already with the Chiefs failed perfect season and picking SEA over SF in the division. And it’s only been one week 😂
@@flash012234agreed. Their roster is just stacked and purdy looks legit. I didn’t know about him cus you know sometimes players have flukey seasons where they look great but then never reach that level again. But he looked so composed, he was extending plays left and right and slinging it all across the field. They’re a force to be reckoned with
Brock Purdy looked amazing from the moment he took the field in his first 2022 preseason game, and he wasn’t throwing to Deebo, Aiyuk, Kittle, McCaffrey then.
Nick should try watching the games. Purdy actually makes plays and dodges pass rushers and uses his feet, he doesn’t just stand in the pocket and deliver passes to the weapons like a robot
Hate to go racial here. Nick’s wife is a sister, so he loves the super black athletes. His take on QBs can be broken down almost entirely based on race… He likes or rarely says anything negative about: Mahome Dak Hurts Trey Lamar Fields Geno Even happy-ending Watson Trevor (the only white QB Nick likes) He hates or belittles or disrespects: Jimmy G Josh Allen Rodgers Kurt Cousins Purdy Staffords Daniel Jones Mac Jones Even Herbert and Burrow Kyler Murray (the only black QB he dislikes. BTW Kyler is like 1/2 Asian, so maybe that’s why) See a pattern 😂
@@nolanko1265he genuinely hates Russ now also even tho when he was at hawks he was praising him Nick pretty wishy washy when it comes to QBs but his takes are pretty accurate 95% of the time
@@nolanko1265 great way you said everything and I don’t think he watches football games for a lot of it takes. He says I just not accurate to not think Purdy is not good it’s just crazy.
I really want to know how many games an uninjured Brock Purdy needs to win in a row before he’s “Good”. We’re up to 8-0. How many do we need? 10-0? 12-0? 18-0? 20-0? When is Brock Purdy good?
Bro....last year during the streak in the regular season, they beat 2 teams over .500, and they were just BARELY over .500. Miami without Tua (9-8), and the Seahawks (9-8). The only good team they beat was the Cowboys and everyone agrees the Cowboys are choke artists...so yea Purdy gotta beat some good teams before he is crowned.
@@williamblackfyre4866 Yeah, cause everyone knows Any Given Sunday is actually a crock and you don’t actually have to play well to beat bad teams. Anybody can go 8-0 in their first 8 uninjured starts, look at how many QBs have done tha-oh wait, the list is 0. Nobody but Brock Purdy has ever managed it. Ever.
This crew is awesome. I love what Nick and the guys have done with this show. When they first started it, the tone was much like that of a serious sports commentary show where each topic is meant to be debated. Now, it's almost like the topics are more or less the background for a sketch. No other debate show brings a credible guest on for five seconds just to clown. No other debate show would actively play with and encourage the biases of the host, even when they're wrong. I mean, Nick predicted the chiefs would go 20-0 and got a tattoo on his arm of it. They lose game 1, and the guys unveil a banner for Nick's wrong prediction. Whenever Trevor Lawrence does literally anything good, nick has a live horn section come in to play a coronation song for the "prince that was promised." The hosts openly clown each other, and everyone knows it's all in good fun. Super entertaining
I don't understand Nick's take on Purdy. I feel myself being skeptical, in my opinion, but I believe in Purdy much more than Nick does. He's a good decision maker and he seems phenomenal under pressure. I do think you put many of those QBs Nick mentions and it goes worse. Purdy genuinely seems like a very solid QB. I say I'm skeptical because part of me still expects the whole situation to just implode, but there's no realistic argument for that to happen.
Purdy is costing next to nothing, Cowboys will either have to pay Dax a boatload of money for an average QB or go with Lance. The only reason they brought him in was to get leverage. You don't need a great QB to win. You need a good cheap one so you can build in other positions. Also why they 49ers let Jimmy G go. He was getting too expensive and they had Purdy.
His take on Purdy is less confusing to me than his worship of the Cowgirls and Dak Prescott. Prescott has never played a decent game past Wild Card weekend, and I'm supposed to believe he's gonna suddenly become a Super Bowl winning, MVP quarterback, when he hasn't even proved as much as Purdy has and he's had 6 more seasons to do it. It's just asinine
They are good but Dallas has the best D. The speed and depth of the defense of the Cowboys is sickening. Don't forget Donovan Wilson and Jourdan Lewis were out with Injuries and will be coming back soon.
@@JP-hj3ioI'm an Eagles fan, Hargrave is a very nice piece, because he pushes the pocket and let's the EDGE guys hunt because the QB can't step up. That being said, Hargrave is garbage against the run, he just is. I think a 2nd CB in this league is a little more valuable.
@@williamblackfyre4866thanks for your scouting report but our linebackers and safeties aren’t soft like the eagles. We’re the best team against the run for the last two years combined for a reason.
That point at the end was EVERYTHING. Dallas on offense has had weapons for days and BROCK PURDY took his team to the NFC championship while also beating the Cowboys and that defense.
His best running back got hurt in that game. Gallup wasn’t 100% coming off ACL injury only good weapons Dak had was ceedee and TE Shultz and well Shultz on his new team had 2 receptions for 4 yards week 1. 49ers had way more weapons.
@@KingWZRD93okay and deebo Samuel left in the third Christian McCaffrey only had 10 I guarantee you if they all would have played even if Tony but I have played the 49ers would still won
What Nick fails to mention in regards to the Brock Purdy debate, is that we also saw Josh Johnson get thrust into action last year with these same weapons and look pedestrian at best. Brock may not end up becoming an All Time Great but he's shown that he's a quality starter with plenty of room to improve.
Trey Lance didn't impress either and the 9ers wasted so much draft capital on the guy. If anyone can make it work like Nick says then why didn't lance? That was their guy that they went all in on.
Let's list all the things Jennings and Brou said would lead to Giants victory: 1) Jones is better than Dak 2) Dabol is a superior coach 3) the Giants O-line is good 4) the Giants D-Line will keep the Cowboys from running the ball and pressure Dak 5) Jones is past his days of turning the ball over Not one thing on that list is correct.
49ers play well and they get a couple minutes of Purdy nonsense, but the Cowboys get 15 minutes of absolute BS? How long before Nick finally admits Purdy is a good QB. Is it going to take the entire season?
@@wjpost1967even tho Lance pretty much never played in the NFL(one game against the Texasns his rookie year and a game against the Bears in a monsoon) not sure why Nick hopped on that bandwagon so hard for a guy that pretty much hasn't played in the league
It would be good if Nick could enumerate the limitations he saw in Purdy's play yesterday, because it definitely wasn't sloppy and included some tough passes.
Saying this as a niner fan: it felt like Purdy lost a little velocity from the surgery, which is worrying b/c he never really had a fastball to begin with. But the decision making and the "sneaky athleticism" are 100% still there
Purdy is the definition of mid. His weapons and defense will continue to carry him. Shanahan never wanted Lance, the owner did. He can't develop QBs and Lance getting hurt bailed him. Now he's got the low ceiling QB of his dream with the best weapons in the league.
To me the most impressive thing Purdy had going for him this game was his processing speed. Didn't look like he was panicking, he was absorbing the information and diagnosing the defense as it happened. Made little to no mistakes and made the throws he needed to make. This is still kind of his rookie year, but his progress should only improve. You don't need to have a strong arm or run fast. A QB's job is to manage the ball while being accurate and to make sure the other team doesn't get a turnover. Purdy is doing that AND making plays. He bought time for his receivers making himself look like Russel Wilson for a bit for a few of those drives.
So what is Nick's point? Purdy isn't good because he has weapons? Yeah Purdy would look different on a team like the Panthers or whatever, but that's irrelevant. After all, how did mahomes play with no help last Thursday? Can the 49ers win a Superbowl with Purdy? Yes they can. And that's really all that matters.
@@abc_12333 for sure, but I mean that's what happens when a QB has bad weapons. Purdy isn't throwing ints or making bad decisions. Why does Nick hold the weapons against him?
Lmao Nick gone die on this Purdy hill all season can’t wait for the superbowl when he holding up #6, also he’s already beat Dak in the playoffs and went further in year 1 than Dak in 8 years, so yea we got the second best QB in the NFC… for now
Imagine getting up early, getting yourself together, setting up your computer and camera, finding your airpods you lost in the couch last night, just to be on for 5 secs to let the world know you were wrong 😂😂
The only people who still thinks we need more games on Purdy are the type of people who can stare at the sun and not know whether is day or night time.
Awful take. Stop it. DJ has had nothing to work with EVER. No coaching, no receivers, no oline for the first 3 years of his career. He then gets Daboll, still has no weapons, and wins a playoff game last year. Stop acting like danny is holding the giants back. He's not. Last night was a perfect example. Pressured on 2/3 of his dropbacks. 13 percentage points higher than the 2nd most out of all qbs sunday. Htf is he supposed to prosper
Knew we were gonna run it down Steelers throat with accurate precise passing. This team is an oiled machine and incredibly professional, fast, efficient on both sides of the ball and it showed.
So I am sitting here working on my laptop in bed next to my wife at like midnight and I decided to catch up on the show and the Jennings segment made me laugh so loud I woke her up. Absolutely SAVAGE
I don't know if they are the best defense, but the Cowboys have 2 excellent corners and an excellent pass rush. The pass rush got to the QB in less than 2 seconds off the ball after the first drive.
It wasn't just raining it was a friggin monsoon and heavy downpour. BOTH offenses passing games were effected as ANY teams passing games would have been no matter who's at QB. Plus the Cowboys had absolutely no need for a deep vertical game or a pass heavy game plan so the two combined contributed to Daks low statistical output.......oh yeah and the TEs dropped a sure TD and another that could have been a TD if caught. Dak was fine and looked calm and confident. Next Sunday the Jets will see a much more potent/explosive Cowboys offense especially in their home opener.
The dallas game wasnt some shocking reveal. They beat a team they should beat and their defence was great. And it does nothing against the fact that Dak is a fair weather qb. He will manage a game but he wont make plays to get you back in one
The Giants avoided Travon Diggs like the plague yesterday, yet he still: (1) Forced a Pick-6 (via a hit on Barkley); and (2) Forced a Fumble in the Red Zone (securing the shutout) If Dallas can get Travon to keep hitting folks (or even tackle them), they're gonna be even better than last year.
if if if it's the thing every year with the cowboys cowboys have not had the #1 defense since the 90's and my 49ers have been #1 defense or been top #3 defense since we drafted bosa
I’m a huge Cowboys fan, I don’t fear the 49ers, if Dallas makes it to the NFC Champioship I WANT IT to be against the Niners, I miss the days of the 90s! Let’s do 49ers 😤
I agree! Nick is an ____! Can't stand him; he gets on my last nerve! Doesn't give my 9ers credit especially the QBs. Go 9ers!! And good luck Jimmy G!♥️🏈
Nick says he trust Dak over Purdy. Why didn't anyone bring up the playoff game last year? The difference in the game was Dak crumbled under the pressure and Brock Purdy did not.
exactly. making all these excuses for Dak with a stacked roster yet he’s choked his whole career. Purdy dodging and outrunning defenders all game and throwing absolute dimes extending the play, but apparently it’s the players around him doing all the work
