I agree. It's POSSIBLE to make friends at work. BUT that's NOT WHY I'M AT WORK. I'm at work to get PAID. I made a few friends at work, but I had to REALLY get to know them FIRST! People get coworkers and friends twisted all the time, and it's sad. It's almost desperation.

There was a coworker i got a little too close with and eventually some conflict arose between us. Thankfully she didn't escalate things but that kind of scare will make me extra careful from now on.

Hello! Thank you for sharing your truth. I shared my lessons continuously with a coworker last year and she didn't save any of the information to use this year. It was very disheartening because I didn't do much time building everything I shared. I'm a fourth year High School Spanish Teacher. I'm soft spoken so it's been hard to set boundaries yet build connections. Thank you for sharing this information!

I'm glad you found it helpful. It happens so often that it becomes a normal part of school culture which is really sad and frustrating. You should totally consider uploading your lessons to Teachers Pay Teachers. It's a fun, low pressure way to make some extra money.

I agree. I had a co-worker who asked to borrow money. You have to be very clear. By the way I have grown to love scripted curriculum with a little tweaking for students who are below proficiency.

Asking for money..wow! You're right there are some benefits to scripted lesson plans, especially if you're permitted to tweak them.

A veteran teacher stole my lesson plans and tried to take me shopping! She was my mentor so I had to report her to my program supervisor. She got removed from the program but continued to call me. I had to change my number!

Hello again. I just had this conversation this morning with a co worker and I alike you have had a overwhelming week thus due to co- worker's not completing their workload which in turn leaves me picking up the slack. An example of tasks left unchecked is as simple as a door being left unsecued.

I currently work as a security guard overnights, I'm one semester away from completing my bachelor's degree in business management. I'm strongly considering teaching English abroad or possibly joining a fellowship type program for recent graduates to become a teacher in the US. I'm very thankful for what you are doing, you're obviously a highly intelligent and beautiful spirited person. I will continue watching and communicating with you.
