i see 7 ppl dont like real music, that is perfect harmony... not to many groups can do it like that, without 200,000$ worth of electronics... peaceful and heart felt, thats real music...
A BLESSING to have been given a wonderful group like "THE COX FAMILY", Willard YOU are missed!!!! This is REAL music.... TRUE sound.... God is pleased.... And so am I.... Beyond words....
Susanne Cox makes singing this powerful old song look so effortless. It now appears the Cox Family has made this song their own; and rightfully so. A most beautiful voice, from an incrediably talented family.
Wow. I absolutely adore their sound. Her emotional intent reminds me of Jerry Garcia. She really imbodies the soul of the persons she sings about. The whole band is beautiful but wow, she is special. I am the most nonreligious person ever, and it's one of life's ironies how much I enjoy music rooted in the Church. This is great music, and human experience.
Hands down one of the greatest performances of all time. Susan has such a angelic voice and when they all sing together yes, it is very tear inducing. Not out of sadness but out of sheer joy. Yes indeed, God has blessed them with a great gift. God bless them for sharing it with us all. I highley reccomend buying the DVD "Down from the mountain". That is where this was filmed, it was a tribute to the movie "Oh brother where art thou". :)
I'm not a fan of country or bluegrass but this song is just lovely. I think its because the nature and essence of this song are true as can be. The voices sing gorgeous feelings we can all relate to. Fabulous. Just fabulous.

Suzanne Cox has the perfect face and voice to match the Genre of this great song. Looking at earlier videos that she has made makes me believe that as he ages, she only gets better. Thanks for presenting this video.
I try to sing along but can not without tearing up, I am not a Christian but it doesn't matter because this song is beautiful and I can't listen to it enough. Thank you Cox family
No matter how many times I hear this its like the first. To the mother and family of the little girl who pass away at seven, my heart goes out to you and tears from my eyes.
I wanted to play this at my mums funeral but my dad would not let me, it brings tears to my eyes everytime I listen to it & think back over her life & the fact I never got to say goodbye.
I bought the OBWAT DVD quite a while back. At the time, I hadn't really heard of the Cox Family. All I can say is, I'm totally blown away by this woman's voice. She literally brings tears to my eyes. It's absolutely amazing. Effortless and angelic.
Just wanted to say I discovered you today. I was listening to music that would be so perfect for the series I am writing called Waccamaw. It is a project I am developing for the access channel in Charlotte. Had I the money, I'd have your music for the soundtrack. Your voices are beautiful and bring such spiritual peace. While I am writing and doing my art today, I am listening to your music. Hand to heart to you all. Thank you for sharing your God given talents.
It does not matter what conotation or politics you put to this it is simply beautiful and it shows great respect for talent and appalachin tradition. I bought the Cox family CD after hearing this.
i was lucky enough to have seen the "Down From The Mountain" tour in Atlanta. best concert I have ever been too rock or country. I was in ahh of the great musicians that were in one place.
@Mikeflycast It is a DVD called Down From The Mountain: A Film Celebrating the Music from the Movie O Brother Where Art Thou. You can find it on Amazon. This is my favorite song from that movie. I love it!
