Hello Miranda, I believe when the market was good companies over extended themselves buying more equipment, etc. Now that things are slow they are not able to sustain themselves hence the closeures and bankruptcy. Great video again ✌️

Segmental economic conditions can exist opposite of macroeconomic conditions. Logistics and trucking conditions are definitely in negative growth conditions that will continue to exist, the impact to the overall economic growth has not had a significant impact so far but it’s still to early to rule out a possible recession from the industry’s recessive economic condition. Hopefully the bottom is near and we can see a turnaround soon.

Unfortunately I don't see this "turning around" anytime soon, because inflation and higher prices aren't localized issues in the United States, but global ones. And I know a lot of people here don't want to hear this, but Biden has done a fantastic job. If you don't believe me, compare the currency conversion rate of the Euro and British pound during 2021 and today. The Euro used to be worth $1.18, but right now it's worth $1.07. The British pound used to be worth $1.37 in 2021, but right now it's worth $1.28. Similarly the Chinese Yuan was worth 15.5 cents each in 2021, but are currently worth around 14 cents each. What we're seeing is late-stage capitalism running it's course. Larger companies are gobbling up smaller ones, then using their combined market presence to dictate rates. Taking it a step further, they're also building their own fleets to eliminate overhead. Walmart is the largest private employer in 22 states, and they boast a fleet of 9,000 power units and 80,000 trailers that's only growing. They have figured out that it's cheaper to pay their drivers 100,000k a year than it is to pay $2-3 dollars a mile on their freight, which in turn has reduced the amount of freight they need pulled by outside entities, which has resulted in more capacity than demand. As large corporations continue to consolidate the market, prices will go up, wages will go down, and consumer buying power will decrease, resulting in less demand for freight. This isn't going to turn around unless capitalism is regulated, and corporations are taxed at 90+% to insentivize better worker benefits and pay. If people make more, they spend more, which means more work for us. Anyway, great video, but this comment section is next level.

I do believe that some of this is due to companies starting to run their own equipment and companies starting to handle their own freight is part of why they are going under and or being sold

Remember back during the contract talks and they decided to “help” . Yellow closed shortly after then UPS announced that ridiculous contract with the teamsters. Was Coyote folded into that mess? Did they shed a sector even short to have some quick liquidity? Those other companies that the equity companies are looking at are they publicly traded? If you ever looked into what Bain Capital and Mitt Romney started with the vulture capital funding and putting in an incompetent board making poor decisions while stripping assets along with short selling that could be what happened.

It could just be that brokerage is a dying sector of trucking and UPS is getting out while the getting is good. I don’t have any idea if it’s growing. There’s nothing wrong with a 14% bottom line if the top line is growing. UPS isn’t going to hang on to a business that isn’t growing. I’ve said it 100 times… if I had freight to move I sure wouldn’t call a company that doesn’t have any trucks

Due to this poor economy, we are experiencing significant company consolidation. XPO and its associated companies just keep expanding. I am sure you would agree; we have too many brokers bottom-fishing for rates. Is it good that equity companies are buying transportation firms to make a quick turnaround profit for stockholders? I am personally surprised that UPS gave up on Coyote; they were a good source for moving their nonunion cargo.

I'm 53 year old I remember back in 1990 the up and down it will turn when everyone thinks it will never. The more you see drivers giving up and going company drivers and is only few owners operators left it will is my guess

It appears to be a game of Last Man Standing in our trucking world. On a more pertinent note people need to understand that economies don't always obey real world factors. Instead they can obey perception. If the common perception says that everything is pretty good, people will spend money regardless of what is actually happening in the economy. Conversely if the common perception is negative when in fact things are actually good, the people won't spend liberally and this in turn will drive down the economy. So what do you about this perception problem? You have to work on confidence. The government has long known this and if the media likes the government they will play along. But then you have to have a public that trusts the media. So what do we have now? A public that largely hates the government and has an ever deepening contempt of the media. Combine that with the worst inflation in the nation's history and it all adds up to very little consumer confidence which means reduced spending and an economy that is grinding to a halt. Politically a bad economic condition almost always means that incumbents will be voted out. However in a world where we know that elections can and will be stolen, it is anyone's guess what the future holds and because of that we are immersed in a irony that we can not even get consumer confidence jump started until the next election is actually done and registered. Lastly if the current regime "wins" another election, expect a total economic crash in the form of a dollar default. If the current regime loses, the dollar is still heading for a default, but that default will likely be delayed and possibly even halted.

Trucking companies will continue to drop until all those that bought trucks & trailers when trucks & trailers sold at there highs are still in operation. They cannot survive do to the huge costs involved in their equipment. They cannot sell their equipment so they are left to have to loose it in all the ways there is. They cannot get back into business because they lost their equipment by giving it up. I just don't understand why you and others don't get this; unless the equipment costs are some how much less than is suggested when taking into consideration there high costs & the Rates offered. Until know, it has not been totally clear as to what's happening in trucking; we're seeing what appears to be massive numbers of big trucking companies, etc, shutting down. If they can't make it then small one truck and up companies can't either unless you have older equipment, if it's 5 to 10 years old or older you. And there's two problems with this, shop costs for those rediculous trucks with DEF that kills engine's and if you have an older truck you can't get into CA. If you can get into CA you pay huge cost in everthing. It seems to be a lose, lose situation. 😮😢 but people can't believe what they're seeing. You being a newer company may be able to shead more light on this, but plz take into consideration what I've said here and other comments. Try not to let wishful thinking into this. Thx 4 your vids.
