And now we go to the 1km dock run for drunk cruise passengers late to the ship. All competitors have been drug tested and are blowing at least 0.3 and have just eaten a burger of dubious origins. They are carrying the regulations weight of 10kg of overpriced souvenirs and poorly disguised alcohol and some have taken the risk of running in flip flops.
How entitled do you have to be not to feel even a twinge of embarrassment at holding over 3000 people hostage while you saunter along 45 min late? The same folks who go through life unaware their selfish actions cost someone thousands of dollars. Don’t expect an apology anytime soon either.
@@TheSeatrippers Easy to say, but I have been aboard when the REASON they were late--was not their fault. THEY paid the ship for one of their excursions--then the EXCURSION operator brought them back too late to make boarding. Then, know it all commenters talk--and talk about "they live in their perfect little world"--bunch of pricks.
It’s one thing if the excursion party made them late, there was a traffic accident, or something else happened beyond their control, but this [probably] wasn’t the case.
@@jimquantic ship excursions are one thing. Being an inconsiderate, lazy ass, drunk is a different story. It's easy to tell when it's an excursion that is late because people come back en masse. The drunken jerks come back one by one or even two by two (because they have to hold each other up).
I've mentioned this before, we travel by train when we vacation in Europe. When the conductors blow their whistle 3xs you have approximately 60 seconds to get on board. Then the doors close and we leave...PERIOD. Their schedules are precise and on time. Ships should be the same way, no exceptions.
I guess where a train ticket is about a hundred at a long journey and these guys are charging 3 grand for the experience they feel like half hour here and there doesn't really matter and they probably take this into account when making the "all aboard times"
@@dudtopics159 this is probably true but the cruise industry still has schedules to keep, and it costs them thousands to remain in port past their departure time, and to arrive late. But like you said they probably factor those fees into the cost of your ticket price.
@@TheSeatrippers just think sometimes a step back is needed. If planes are late past their spot in an airport like London Heathrow then it will cost them thousands. What do they do? Take off as soon as ready and not wait for late passengers unless it's not gonna affect the slot time. The same with cruise ships I'm sure but something tells me the time you are told and the actual "slot" are 2 different things and the model works because people rush back for a time where they've still got an hour probably. But yeah who knows ☺️ when I'm cruising I'll just be glad to be there
Europe and japan are down to the second when it comes to stuff like that Train pulls into the station you're on it and it's leaving to the sec Pisses me off as an american We have to be so gentle to people.
We don't get off 😂 We did once and have electric wheelchair that the crew bumped on every rung of the entry board hurting my hubby further. It was the ratio between the ship and the dock, the steepness of the gangway. Can't be avoided, so we stay put.
@@TheSeatrippers We just love being on board, we don't need to get off. We can shop at home😂 Totally a breeze compared to flying. I was the one that was truly against going on a cruise. We once had a bit of rough weather and we were 6 hours late because of it. We just loved it but I think sat in wheelchairs you may feel more grounded that the normal staggering person in a hallway. Always a bonus to everything. 😂🤣😂
A lot can be learned from this: if you are late and the boat leaves, you will NEVER be late again on future cruises. I’m sure it’s always the same people who barely make it on each time.
Your right we ran into a woman at the airport says she only Flys sprint cause she is always late and they will put her on another flight well that's great 😮
@@TheSeatrippersThey should charge these people that are late. They have their credit card information. $100. It hurts but not is to outrageous. Every port you make them wait in it goes up $100. Put it in the contract that you sign. These people are so disrespectful to everyone.
Agreed - The annoying narration/narrator convinces me to pass on any other 'Seatippers'' video. Couldn't even tolerate five minutes of this video. Thanks, but no thanks...
I worked as a showgirl and dancer on cruise ships. One one cruise, we had this big fat first class passenger who held up our ship twice. Granted he was only five to seven minutes late, but this guy was a pain in the ass. He even tried climb up on stage during one of our performances, and when we told him to please get off the stage, he says “But I’m a first class passenger!”.
@@TheSeatrippers should i ever take a cruise, im going to have 2 watches , one for regular time and one for 'ship time' so if i decide to port , i will not have to do the 'run of shame' .
Why doesn't the ship just leave? There are always people who think the world is about them. They just don't care about being on time. The ship will wait for them and they'll know it. They never change their behavior
Well let me tell you. If 1 person book an excursion through the Cruise websites, and the excursion ends late for some reason. The cruise company have to wait for that 1 person, no matter what.
Even if you do book through the cruise line, the ship will not wait forever. They do have schedules to keep, plus they face hefty fines for staying in port longer than they're supposed to. And if they don't make it to their next port on time they face the possibility of not having a berth at the docks. In other words, the ship will leave at some point.
Well bless your heart that you feel that way. My Hispanic-German-Polish wife and my French-Scots-Irish self appreciate your "politically correct" condemnation of our right to free speech. GOD BLESS the USA!!!! P.S... thanks for interacting with my channel, your comment has been duly noted.
Drinking and watching for pier runners is quite entertaining. And it's our life that gives us the ability and opportunity to go on cruises and enjoy ourselves. Our life is our life, and your life is your life; so, just sit back - relax - and enjoy the ride. If you don't like it, then get off and try another ride.
what funny is when this happens. It Costs the ship extra money to stay in port of additional time. Cruise lines Pay port fees for specific Window of time to be in port. If longer? it will cost the cruise line more money.
I would do whatever is humanly possible to be early. I would just die of embarrassment 😳 to be 'runner' and I can't run anyway. And all those people watching 👀? and having to face all the people on the ship? I have purple hair. I wouldn't be able to hide...And the cruise isn't over😳😳
We always make sure we choose an excursion that'll get us back in plenty of time. We try to stay away from the 7-8 hr excursions. Go in disguise on your excursions. LOL
If I were the cruise line, I would not wait for even a single person. Sure some may say they won't use that cruise line again but so what. The ship would be able to leave on time and other passengers would not be upset. Another suggestion would be they could be late once after that they would not be able to leave the ship. Maybe take their passports.
@@laurakilner8373 well bless your heart, I've never been called a "pain in the ass" before. Your comment has been duly noted, and we appreciate the time you took to watch our video and leave a comment.
We make sure we're back on time because one, we don't want to get left behind and/or be that person; and two, because we want to watch for the pier runners (when we're docked at a pier).
Always remember, if these late runners booked an excursion through the cruiseline, they are guaranteed to not miss the boat. Can’t blame the passengers if something happened on the excursion.
Is this a thing? there seems to be a lot of interest in the "Pier Runners". I've never been on a cruise and probably won't if there's nothing better to do than 'hope' people are going to get stranded. How sad, I suppose its human nature to enjoy other's suffering; not for me!
They need to start treating Cruise passengers that Miss departure time the same way the Navy does when a crew member ends up missing ships movement. Trust me that same type of conversation with the Cruise ship's as you would have with a Captain on board a carrier or Destroyer would stop a lot of this real quick
Folks, you’re on a cruise where you can forget your cares for a bit. Why take so much time at every port taping latecomers and seeming to get thrills from criticizing people? Go do something more fun on the ship!
We do do stuff on the ship, but watching for pier runners is entertaining to us and quite a lot of other folks. So until the fun wears off people will continue to watch and cheer.
This must be a really laid back captain because I've seen other cruise ships just leave. This captain must've been super nice. I've been on 20+ cruises and never been late, but then again we don't do the excrusions :P
Those people should be embarrassed but if they are used to making thousands of people wait because they felt entitled then they should be left behind for them to learn a lesson, i find it no respect for other people
They should be left behind and forced to pay their way back home, or.... have a glass room on the Lido deck that they have to stay in so that everyone on board can go by and shame them. An old-fashioned Scarlet Letter.
We agree with you; however, it is fun watching them try and run back to the ship. Especially the ones that are having a hard time walking a straight line.
Because my wife is part Latina, and we're in Cozumel, Mexico, and some of the runners are Hispanic or part Hispanic, and most of the dock workers are Hispanic, and so we're therefore following the inclusive mantra.
Cause that's the way my mom yelled at me, en Español cuando era una niña. My Indita ama didn't yell in English when we were in trouble. I guess it's habitual. And my hubby has immersed himself in my culture.
Definitely something that bugs me why when the world do the cruises waste their time on Go over the loud speaker when you're Going into the port "we're leaving at three thirty be here or you're out" At 3:30 on the sec ramp goes up we're leaving. I don't know why they waste their time for runners. They can go to the cruise office on the pier book a flight on their own time to the next stop or back to port and wait for the ship to return.
I definitely think they should start leaving on time. If they say back on board at 4:00pm, then they should close the pier, stop the tenders, etc. Wait for those in line to get on board, and then set sail.
watching this 6 yrs later....sooooo sad.....NO ON LEARNS!!!!!! PPL STILL DONT LEARN!!!!!!! i don't get it!!! WE ALL HAVE PHONES WATCHES!!! GET WITH IT PPL!!!
We don't get it either. You'd think that with smart phones and smart watches people wouldn't be late but apparently that ain't happening. Society has gotten too lenient on tardiness.
If they are first time cruiser I can see why they might be late. It would be easy to forget to set your watch to ship time or an excursion that went wrong. But an experienced cruiser should know better.
You'd think that was true but if you book with an outside tour/excursion group then there's no guarantee of getting back on time. Also, if you can't hold your booze then going to places like Margaritaville, Mr Sanchos, etc may not be a good idea either. As Forest Gump said, "Stupid is as stupid does."
I know. I can't believe the audacity of those who are making thousands of people wait for their drunk ass to get back to the ship. Every ship should have a wall of shame, and the pier runners pictures should be posted on that wall.
For that many crew members to be out on the dock this is for sure an excursion that returned late. They probably got dropped off at the end of the pier.
I have been on a lot of cruises and the stupidity of some passengers. When the captain tell you what time he is departing that is what time he is leaving and he even sounds the horns.
@@ozzydozzy1 you are correct. Some people's comments are better when they are muted. Muted videos can always be sent to @SteveInman for non essential commentary.
It's Schadenfreude, and it's a shame that people have to try and put a stigma on everything. Do you laugh at slapstick comedy? At the pie in the face routine? The wedding cake in the face schtick? The slip on the banana peel? Or even old Warner Bros and Hanna-Barbera cartoons? If you do, then you are just as GUILTY of Schadenfreude as many people are. Well bless your heart, and thank you for your reply. It has been duly noted. We also appreciate the time you took to watch our video(s),
Is anything said by the crew to these passengers as they’re boarding? Do they get a letter sent to there cabin voicing displeasure at how they cost the ship thousands in late departure fees. It seems like they just saunter up with a fake “sorry “ , giggle and head up the ramp.
20 laps of the jogging track on the upper deck as punishment lol. Most carnival cruises have a jogging track. Or they should be made to stay in their cabin for that evening
When I’m on holiday I just relax. Seems unnecessary stress on holiday getting angry at late passengers. I’m busy sinking Glass after glass of gin and getting fat!
I would love for someone start getting comments from the late runners. What were u thinking, where doing what, why ???? U got cell phone watch for time. No one can lose track of time like that, unless at home n pj's
Why cheer them? They'll just do it again at the next port. They are holding up a huge ship that has to pay more in port fees the longer they are there. They should have been booed!!
I know they're being rude by making a ship full of people waiting but booing is not as entertaining as cheering for the fact that they "FINALLY" made it back to the ship.
If you see anyone taking their time, pull the ramp, and then they will run. I wouldn't have patience waiting for the people who can't tell time. If you're not here on time....bye bye inconsiderate people.
