I love how your DAA cardigan is turning out. My daughter taught English in Japan a few years ago and when we visited her we included a week in Kyoto (my personal favorite place in Japan that I have visited. But we also went to lots of other places. We loved the Chinatown area of Kobe, too. Great podcast, btw.
I’m going to have to knit some cables das mitts. 😊I love your podcast, Mel. Thank you for recording and putting the time in so that we can watch and hang out with you while we knit.
Love the idea of the matching socks and booties, and the matching hat for your little one! That's going to be too cute! And I love that your using minis for the DAA cardi. Its looks great :)
I love your new format 🤗. Yes, I have made tube socks. I used leftovers and did a freestyle Colorwork sock. It was so much fun! I knit it cuff to cuff and the difference between cast on and cast off totally bothers me 😂🙈.
I am so glad you'll be including snippets of our outtings. The intro was so fun and so much like a ghibli 😍 Your sweater (especially the 1st one ❤)is so incredible! And I adore your crochet blankie. Ooo that skein is so pretty caked up. I hope your dr. visit goes well❤you may be sleeping alot but you look well rest and so pretty😍
Hi Mel!! The stripes on that cardigan are so beautiful!! Drooling over all the delicious food you showed in this episode. I have not knit tube socks before but I think I would use the same method as you since BO and CO definitely feel different. Thanks for sharing as always and take care! ~Stephanie ❤
Your thoughts on knitting a sock tube and adding afterthought heels is interesting. While knitting the tube is fantastic for travel or waiting, I totally agree that the afterthought heel while it looks good does not fit nearly as well as the heel flap and gusset heel. I read the link you left about the afterthought heel modification and it's interesting and certainly worth a try. I have heard other podcasters that knit 3-4 rounds plain once they've picked up the heel stitches before beginning the afterthought heel decreases. That method would add depth all around the heel. I think I'll give both methods are worth trying. I have seen but not tried a method in do an afterthought heelflap and gusset, maybe also worth trying out.
Hey Mel! Happy New Years! I just have to say I fully gasped when I saw the Grenouille Co Advent Calendar full skein. It is just stunning. Loving how your DAA is starting out. Hope you're feeling well and having a lovely start to 2022~! Oh and I cannot wait for your next update. I really want to snag some of your beautiful yarn!
I just found you on youtube and really like your content! Love to see your outings in japan. I'm from the Netherlands so thats interesting to me! About tube socks; i just knit a cuff en cast off with a cuff, it doesn't show when you are done with them. I grabbed a couple of socks i did this way and worn them for years, couldn't even see the difference. Just be carefull with the cast off to do it loosely. So to me thats not a problem at all. I would be so put off with picking up that provisional caston again,.. but hey, thats me! I'm looking forward to see yout next episode! Sandra
Thank you for watching and for the sock tube tip! I guess I'll just have to decide on how I feel about that cast on 😅 but it's good to know that you can't really tell the difference if you just knit cuff on/off!
I've done one tube sock, and I started it as a cuff and ended on a toe 😶 then I split the tube and knit another toe, and the last cuff was knit bottom up. So while they don't match in cast on/bind off, it's the only part of the socks that aren't the same and I don't notice
I just use it using a regular swift and ball winder! It's actually quite boring 😅 but there are lots of videos on youtube showing you what you need and how you can do it!
