Crabbing at Island Heights, NJ

The ones we use for drop lines we got on line (Amazon). The bigger ones we use for traps, we bought from Walmart. They are actually kite string holders, so you’ll find them in the toy section, about $ 1.99 each and you might have to change the string that comes with it.

We were there for about 5 hours ( the entire morning ). This is at the end of the boardwalk in Island heights. I think the water is about 4 to 5 feet deep by the boardwalk.

At first I thought Dunkin’ Donuts was a advertisement video lol loved the crabbing

​​​@@thandastones888 that is correct straight down the road from west end pier in island heights. It doesn't look like the Pier where they have the 2floor gazebo is it down further. Also about what time did you start there is the Pier open all hours

@@jakofall79 Yes. If you’re facing the gazebo, make a right and go all the way to the end of the boardwalk. That’s where we were crabbing🦀.

Drumsticks are the best. Easier to tie too if you’re using a drop line. It also stays in the bottom unlike other chicken parts that tend to float due to the amount of fat. Good luck! 🦀😊

Thanks 😊! We think they require crabbing badges. We were there last year and an enforcer charged us $10 dollars for the day. We didn’t see her on this day though. So just prepare $10 dollars, just in case. Crabbing areas open at 5:00 am.

It’s Island Heights Boardwalk, Island Heights NJ, 08732. Parking is on the street, right along the boardwalk and it’s free. There’s a fee for crabbing though. Bring $10 dollars cash for a day’s pass. If you want a crabbing badge for the season it’s going to be $25 dollars. Enjoy and Good Luck🦀!!!

They are different. Island Heights is $25 per badge, Pine Beach is $10. You can also buy a parking pass for Pine Beach for an additional $10.

I’m from the area not sure if you share badges for that . I know ya need one to fish in island heights but not sure cause I’ve never saw the guy selling them in Gilford Park. Maybe one covers all the bay spots .it would be nice.

I have the same concerns. I've been slowly checking out some places in NJ and making short videos of what they look like. I did Rt 52 causeway fishing pier last weekend if you want to see what it looks like, it's on my page.

Thank you! Thanks for watching❤️. You should give crabbing a try. It’s relaxing and a bit of an exercise too. Buy 2 or 3 traps. Bait them with chicken, set them in your favorite pier. Wait for a bit, listen to music, drink, read a book, enjoy the view. Check your traps and if you’re lucky, you can have crabs for dinner😊🦀. On this particular place, there is no bathroom, even portable ones. But there are nearby stores, an ice cream shop, where you can use the toilet. In our case, we went to a nearby Dunkin Donuts ( 7 minutes away). Good luck!🥰

Used to fishing on camping trips catching small fish. I’ll be grateful if you can send me info on saltwater fishing piers where restrooms/porta potties are available. Thanks again. @@riccogatchi4990 Oh Hello Kabayan😊! You can try Mantoloking County Bridge Park in Brick NJ. The park is open 24 hours and there’s a nice restroom by the entrance. There are no fees and parking is free. There are tables too. Best spot would be under the bridge where you can have a nice shade when the sun is up. You can catch flounder, bluefish and occasional striped bass. Crabbing is good here too. Enjoy and ingat🇵🇭😊!!!

😆If you’re not allergic to seafood, you should give it a try. Catching them fresh is really fun 🦀. Just don’t get pinched😊

Island Heights is $25 for a recreation badge. It gives you access to all their municipal piers for crabbing and or fishing. Makes more sense to get the badge than to pay $10 each time the badge checker finds you....she does make her rounds and so does the conservation officer so make sure the crabs are 4.5 inches minimum point to point.

We checked their website before doing the trip, yes they still require the crabbing badge. But on this day, no one went around to check. We were ready to pay the fee just like last year.

West End Crabbing Pier, Island Heights Boardwalk, Island Heights, NJ 08732. You can park on the street along the boardwalk. No meters. Kung gusto nyo, you can just take a stroll on the boardwalk and scout the place, good exercise. Enjoy!🥰

@@thandastones888 took my dad to Barnegat last Wednesday, quite slow. 15 keepers, 2 turtles and 1 eel. Gusto ko 55 din hahahaha

@@FishWithMhei 15 crabs is not bad for Barnegat😊. That’s about the same amount of crabs we catch when we go there. Usually, you get more crabs in the river than the bays. Crabs love brackish waters.🦀
